3. INSTALLATION
3.1 xtremeDB INSTALLATION
ThextremeDBblockscanbemounteddirectlyonaninstallationpaneloronamachine.Themodulefeaturesthreemounting
holesforthispurpose.Itmustbeassuredthatthemountingsurfaceissmoothandattopreventmechanicalstressinthemodule
housing.
Proper installation and operation of the xtremeDB blocks requires the use of all ground connections. This includes
Ground (A) for module power and Ground (B) for port power on the 18 pin conguration and power plug.

4.2 CONFIGURING THE NODE ID
TheNodeSourceAddress(SA)isconguredbyjumperingthematchingCong-AtoCong-B.TheNodeSAstartswithabasead-
dress of 224(0xE0h)withnojumpersinstalled.TheosetisconguredwiththeuseofBinaryCodedDecimal(BCD).Apowercycleis
requiredwhenchangingtheNodeSA.Ifaduplicatesourceaddressisonthenetworkonapowerupourmodulewillstayinaddress
arbitration mode and will not function.
Please note that all devices on the same J1939

4.3 POWERING THE MODULE
ThemodulerecievesitspowerfromtheCANports.Themodulepowerislimitedto13ampsandisusedtopowerconnectedmodules
downtheline.Thispowerisalsousedforallinputportsaswell.
The network must have a 120 Ohm
terminating resistor at each end
Please note that module power should NOT
be used to power any output devices
The connection between CAN1 & CAN2 for
the power feed is not fused (protected from
short circuit current). During installation
the module power wiring on CAN1 & CAN2
pin 1 should have a 10-12A fuse before the
modules
