The new Engage range of Subwoofers are made from heavy stamped steel
baskets and one piece custom tooled cones, and will work just as well in
ported or sealed enclosures.
Since its awakening back in 2004, Car Audio has been

subwoofers can be used in either sealed or ported applications,
depending on your music tastes and specific requirements.
We recommend using a minimum of 3/4” (18mm) MDF for constructing your enclosure. Also be sure
to glue all joints with a high strength wood glue and once assembled, all joints should be sealed
with silicone sealant.
You may wish to experiment by placing your enclosure in different positions in the boot. You will
find that by changing the direction the subwoofer faces, the bass response will alter.
Note that all measurements need to be internal measurements (If they are being taken externally
you will need to subtract the width of the wood from each measurement accordingly.
To calculate the internal volume in Ft3, multiply the Height (A)
x Width (B) x Depth (C) in inches, then divide that total by 1728.
To calculate the internal volume in Litres, multiply the Height (A)
x Width (B) x Depth (C) in centimetres, then divide that total by 1000.

Minimum and maximum sealed enclosure volumes are given.
The minimum enclosure will yield high impact bass and is suitable for applications where space is
at a premium. Any sealed enclosure between the min and max recommended sizes can be used and
will exhibit characteristics more similar to that of the enclosure size that it is closest to in volume.

If space is not an issue, the maximum enclosure will yield greater amounts of low end bass
(between 25-35 Hz) and also has a ver y smooth response, ideally suited to sound quality
applications. However, this can be at the expense of some power handling capability. We
recommend using a subsonic filter set to 25Hz.
The minimum enclosure will have a greatly increased output over a sealed enclosure, at frequencies
between 30Hz-75Hz.
The port opening should not be against a solid panel such as a seat back or side panel, and there
should be at least 6 inches free space in front of the port.

Check connections on subwoofer are good and connections at amplier are good.
Check that gain levels are correct at all ampliers and processors.
Check that the enclosure is totally sealed (except for the port in ported enclosure
types) and that it is within the minimum and maximum recommended enclosure sizes
and that in the case of a ported box the port is of the correct length and diameter.
The subwoofer may have been damaged due to incorrect enclosure parameter or may
have been driven by to small an amplier causing a clipped signal to be sent to the
subwoofer which may have damaged the voice coils.

merchandise at no charge. Discontinued products may be replaced with more current equivalent products.
The warranty excludes damage or abuse caused by customer misuse. All warranties are to be handled by the
original retailer where the goods were purchased.
This warranty is valid only for the original purchaser and is not extended to owners of the product subsequent
