TheNCR5932–66xxUSBCompactAlphanumericKeyboardisapoint–of–sale(POS)
keyboardthatprovidesmaximumflexibilitythroughitscompletesetofalpha,
numericandprogrammablefunctionkeys.Italsoprovidessuperiorcompatibility
throughitssupportofthelatestObjectLinkingandEmbeddingforRetailPOS
(OPOS)andJavaPOStoenableuserstosupporttheapplicationandtheoperating
systemoftheirchoice.
Itsprimaryuseisinhigh–performancecheckoutareasofgeneralmerchandiseand
fooddistributionsales.Thiskeyboardisdesignedwithsealedmembranesthatare
specificallycreatedtorepelspilledliquidsandwithstandextremeconditionsinretail
environments.
ItissupportedonthecurrentlyreleasedNCRRealPOSterminals.

Note: WhenthekeyboarddisablestheexternalUSBport,thekeyboardcutsOFFthe
USBpowerbus;therefore,whenaself–poweredUSBdeviceisattachedtotheexternal
USBport,thedevicemaynotbedisabled.

Keyboard Status Indicator
Thekeyboardstatusindicatordisplaysthecurrentstateofthekeyboard.The
indicatoriscomposedoflight–emittingdiodes(LEDs)withthefollowingfunctions:
NumLockIndicator—Emitsgreenlightwhenthenumberpadisinnumber
mode.
CapsLockIndicator—Emitsgreenlightwhenalphakeysareincapsmode.
ScrollLockIndicator—Emitsgreenlightwhenthearrowkeysareinscrollmode.
PowerIndicator—Emitsgreenlightwhenthekeyboardisgenerallyworking
properly.
ThestatusindicatorLEDsdonotemitanylightwhenthePOSterminalisoff.
Glide Pad
Theglidepadprovidesamouse‐typepointingdevicethatisinternallyconnectedto
theUSB2.0HUBcontroller.WhentheKeylockisin“L”position,theexternalUSB
port,MSR,andglidepadarealldisabledbydefault,andcanbeenabledbyflash
configurationoptionorUSBHIDclassrequest.
Magnetic Stripe Reader
TheMagneticStripeReader(MSR)isanoptionalfeaturethatprovidessupportfor
readingmagneticallycodeddatacards.
ThekeyboardssupportthefollowingtypesofMSR:

JIS–IIandISOTrack2
Note: For5932–6670,theMSRheadisconnectedtothekeyboardcontrollerboard
throughtheMSRconnector.Thenecessaryelectronics(hardwareandfirmware)for
theoperationoftheMSRisprovidedbytheon–boardkeyboardcontrollerthat
equippedaMagtekASICchip.TheMSRsignalsfromthereaderheadarerouted
directlytotheMagtekASICchipsupportedbythekeyboardcontroller.TheMSRdata
ispassedtothehostsystemintheformofkeyboardmessagesembeddedinthe
keyboarddatastream.
Note: For5932–6674,thekeyboardcontainsathirdpartyMSRmoduleandis
connectedtotheUSB2.0HUBportinternally.WhentheKeylockisin“L”position,
theexternalUSBport,MSR,andglidepadarealldisabledbydefault,andcanbe
enabledbyflashconfigurationoptionorUSBHIDclassrequest.
