THE MOTIVE SX3 LOUDSPEAKER
INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
Congratulations on choosing the Neat Motive SX3 loudspeakers. Used correctly, they will provide a lifetime of eautiful
music. Please read the following notes in order to get the est from them.
RUNNING IN
A 'running in' perio of at least 200 hours is necessary to stabilise performance. After this perio , a further
gra ual improvement will occur over a perio of several weeks.
SETUP
The Motive SX3 should e used on rigid stands, etween 45 & 70 cm in height, and fixed with lu-tack or similar adhesive
putty. They can also e placed near the front of a solid shelf, mounted on some kind of isolating pads/spikes.
CONNECTIONS
The Motive SX3 is usually supplied with a single set of terminals for 'normal' (single-wire) connection. Just connect the
ca le from the amplifier to the terminals, ensuring correct polarity.
NB: The Motive SX3 can alternatively e supplied with i-wiring terminals. This must e specified at the time of ordering.
For i-wire terminals.
Bi-wiring is effected y running two sets of ca le from the amplifier output terminals. Connect one set to the lower and one
set to the upper terminals on the rear of the speaker. Take care to ensure correct phasing (i.e. red and lack connections
maintained at amplifier and speaker). Bi-wiring can ring a out a significant change in performance and this should e
evaluated on an individual asis. Some amplifiers will respond etter than others, and personal taste is also a strong
factor.
Bi-amplification is also recommended and generally rings enefits in scale and dynamic contrast. It involves the use of
2 stereo amplifiers (or 4 mono loc amplifiers). When this i-amplification is eing considered, please consult your dealer,
or Neat Acoustics, for advice.
POSITIONING
Important note: Best listening results will be
obtained without the grilles!
Due to huge variations in the acoustic properties of different rooms, there are few hard and fast rules governing
loudspeaker positioning so experimentation is recommended. Generally, ass output increases as distance from the rear
wall, or side wall, decreases. Stereo depth improves as the speaker is rought away from room oundaries. Start with the
Motive SX3 at approx. 20cm from the rear walls, with at least 50cm from side walls if possi le, and make incremental
moves in different directions, noting the changes, until an optimal position is reached. Remem er that sometimes very
small movements of the loudspeaker can ring a out huge differences in performance.
