Setup Guide
NHT's Classic Series represents our best efforts
to date in passive loudspeaker design. Classic
starts with the design fundamentals that have
contributed to NHT's reputation for accuracy and
high performance, and then adds new driver and
cabinet technologies that reduce distortion and
improve dispersion. The benefit to you is a more
articulate and musical listening experience.
All Classic Series models share a similar "voice"
or tonality so that you are assured a matched
system no matter which models you decide to
add while you build your system.
Use this Setup Guide to help you unpack,
connect and place them your new Absolute Wall
Speaker system. If you are interested in more
information about these and other NHT speakers,
please visit our website at , you
will find complete owner's manuals and other tips
to make the most of your installation. If at any
time during or after setup you require personal
assistance, feel free to call our Customer Hotline
at 1-800-NHT-9993 (800-648-9993).

Satisfaction and Warranty
We hope you enjoy the sound of your NHT
Classic speakers as much as we do. Warranty
terms and conditions and service procedures
varies by country of purchase. For USA and
Canadian customers (and any worldwide
customers who make their purchase from the
NHT Web Store) please refer to the NHT website
for warranty details and service procedure. If you
bought from an NHT Authorized Dealer in North
America, think about registering your purchase
(and warranty) with us - not necessary for
customers who purchase directly from the NHT
Web Store. For other countries, please refer to
the dealer and distributor in your country for
warranty terms, warranty registration and service
needs – you can find them at www.nhthifi.com.
Once again, if you have any questions or
problems, please call us at our Consumer Hotline
- 800-NHT-9993, or [email protected].
Wall Speaker Applications
Unpacking your Speakers and
Assembly
There are a variety of placements and
applications possible. You can find the full
owners manual on line on the Absolute Wall
Speaker page or in the Service Center.
As you unpack your Absolute Wall speaker, you
will notice we have included some rubber pads
with adhesive backing (Fig. 1). You will need to
decide how you want to orient the speaker on the
wall, tweeter up or tweeter down. That will
determine where the keyhole bracket is to be
located. Then peal off the backing and stick
these near the two corners on the rear of the
speaker on the opposite side of the Keyhole
bracket as shown.
Mounting your speakers to the wall
The metal keyhole bracket (Fig 1.) on the back of
the speaker is designed to hang the speaker off a
single screw that sticks .20 inches (3/16") out of
the wall. The key hole mount can be moved to the
opposite end of the speaker if you need to invert
the speaker to get the tweeter closer the ear level
– this is particularly beneficial when mounting the
speaker higher on the wall.
WARNING! The speaker is HEAVY, be sure to
find a stud (the wooden kind) to fasten the screw
into. In absence of a stud – use suitable
hardware rated to support the Absolute Wall
Speaker's weight. Consider hiring a professional
to mount these speakers (and hide the wires).

Placement
The Absolute Wall speaker is designed for easy
placement. It is important to know that small
changes in speaker positioning can have an
effect on sound quality. Placing the speakers
closer to corners will increase bass output, but
also may make them sound "boomy." Placing
them farther away from corners and ceilings will
tend to flatten response and improve the stereo
imaging.
For stereo systems or when using the Absolute
Wall Speakers as front main speakers for your
home theater system try to position the speaker
1.5 times as far away from you as they are from
each other. (Fig. 2)
Here are some tips for incorporating your
Absolute Wall speakers in a surround system:
Place whatever center channel speaker you are
using either immediately above or below the TV.
Mount the rear or back speakers in as close to an
equilateral triangle as possible with the listening
position and at the same height, or higher than,
the front channels.
Please be sure to run your receiver's speaker
setup and optimization system. Usually a
microphone is included. Use it and check your
work when possible. Sometimes small changes
in microphone position and room furnishings can
make huge changes in results.
Connections
Grilles
Before connecting your Absolute Wall speakers
to your receiver/amplifier, turn off the AC power
to avoid potential damage to your components.
Take a look at the terminals on the back of your
speakers. They can accept raw wire, banana
plugs, BFA, banana or spade lugs. Note that
these terminals should be tightened only by hand,
as excess force can break them. We recommend
your speaker wire be at least 16 guage.
If connecting with bare wire, prepare the wires by
stripping 1/4" - 3/4" of insulation from the ends
and tightly twist the exposed strands. Make sure
there are no loose strands that could touch the
other terminal.
Finally, connect your speakers to your amplifier or
receiver, making sure that the speakers are "in
phase", see the online owner's manual for more
detail.
We have included grilles with the Absolute Wall
speakers. To attach them, carefully line up the
four pins on the back of the grille with the rubber
grommets on the front of the speaker. Fig.3
