Cynema Soundfield delivers both unobtrusive appearance and high performance. We created the new
term Cynema Soundfield to describe the system because it is more than just a soundbar or a collection
of independent speakers. Much more versatile than a traditional soundbar, speakers can be placed in a
variety of configurations to optimize audio performance. Aesthetically, the Cynema Soundfield’s virtually
flat appearance complements the latest flat panel displays perfectly. Its unique in-wall mounting system
dramatically improves the ease of installation and contributes to dynamic audio reproduction. Thin flat
panel televisions must use thin speakers. Thin speakers fall short of our standards for high fidelity. Niles
Cynema Soundfield is the solution that brings the aspects people appreciate most about flat panel TVs,
unobtrusive appearance and high performance, to the world of installed audio products.

INSTALLATION CONSIDERATIONS CONTINUED...
IN-WALL MOUNTING SYSTEM
The Cynema Soundfield In-Wall Mounting System includes two rails that are connected together using up to
four Screw Down Slide Brackets as shown in Figure 2 on page 11.
There will be installations where the right and left end of the rails do not fall directly on a stud. Two Clamp
Down End Brackets are included to secure rail ends that fall 3 or more inches from the nearest Screw Down
Sliding Bracket by clamping the drywall as shown in Figure 2 on page 11.
SPECIAL INSTALLATION NOTE:
In some installations the ends of the top and bottom rails will fall too close to the side of a stud to provide the
Clamp Down End Bracket with enough drywall for clamping and, at the same time, not fall close enough to the
stud to use the Screw Down Sliding Bracket (Figure 5, A.).
When this occurs, attach a wood furring strip flush on the side of that stud (Figure 5, B.) and use the Screw
Down Slide Brackets screwed into these furring strips to secure the ends of the rails (Figure 5, C.).

IN-WALL POWER SUPPLY BOX (POWERED MODELS ONLY)
All Powered Cynema Soundfield models (CSF48A, CSF55A and CSF65A) include one In-Wall Power Supply Box.
The In-Wall Power Supply Box incorporates the Amplifier Module power supply in a flush mounted electrical
box. It includes a removable AC power cord on the front face plate, outside the wall, that plugs into a standard
AC wall outlet.
A 24V DC cable on the rear side, inside the wall, connects to the Amplifier Module that installs in the In-Wall
Mounting System with the Speaker Modules.
The In-Wall Power Supply Box is installed below or directly behind a wall mounted TV next to an AC outlet
(Figure 6 A, B).
A: Located Below the TV B: Located Behind the TV
IMPORTANT INSTALLTION NOTE: Because the 24V DC cable provided is limited in length and cannot be spliced or
extended, you must locate the In-Wall Power Supply Box as close as possible to the Amplifier Module.
In some municipalities, conduit is required. For a trouble-free installation, low voltage wire must be in accordance with the National
Electrical Code and any applicable provisions of the local building code. If you are unsure of the correct installation techniques, wire
jacket, or type of conduit to use, consult a professional audio/video installer, building contractor, or the local building and inspection
department.

CYNEMA SOUNDFIELD™SOUNDBAR SYSTEMS
INSTALLING THE SYSTEM
Niles Cynema Soundfield Speaker Systems are designed for installation in existing walls built using standard
construction (drywall attached to wood studs spaced 16” on center).
NOTE: Walls constructed with studs that are not accurately spaced 16” on center may prevent proper installation of the three
Speaker Modules and the Amplifier Module.
Install the included In-Wall Mounting System below and centered with a wall mounted Flat Panel TV.
Wall cutout templates are supplied to mark the drywall and cut the proper size rectangular holes which
accommodate the Cynema Soundfield In-Wall Mounting System and In-Wall Power Supply Box. Use the
outside dimensions of the included Speaker Grille to determine the final location of the Cynema Soundfield
Speaker System (see Page 11 Figure 2 for dimensions). The design of the magnetically attached Speaker Grill
provides plus or minus 1” of left and right fine position adjustment after it is attached to the In-Wall Mounting
System for precise center alignment with the TV.
NOTE: Create a rough sketch that diagrams the exact position of the wall studs, TV and proposed speaker location to identify any
unforeseen installation issues before cutting the drywall (see Page 12 Figure 3 & 4 ).
CUT THE DRY WALL OPENING FOR THE IN-WALL MOUNTING SYSTEM (ALL MODELS)
1. Locate all of the studs in the wall below the TV location using a stud sensor or by hand-knocking.
2. Drill a 1/8” pilot hole just barely through the wallboard or dry wall (1/2” to 5/8” deep in most homes) in the
vertical center of your proposed speaker location and the horizontal center of each stud bay the mounting
system will cover.
NOTE: BE VERY CAREFUL NOT TO DRILL THROUGH EXISTING WIRES, PIPES, OR STRUCTURE. IF YOU FEEL ANY EXTRA RESISTANCE AS
YOU ARE DRILLING, STOP.
3. Cut a piece of coat hanger equal to the width of the stud bays. Bend the wire in half creating a right angle.
Poke the “L shaped” wire into the pilot hole and turn it in a complete circle. If it turns freely in all directions,
repeat the procedure for each stud bay of your proposed speaker location (See below). If the coat hanger
wire movement is obstructed by a pipe or cable, fill the hole(s) with spackle or other patching compound
and consider a different location.
4. Once you have determined the correct position for the speaker grille,
center the supplied In-Wall Mounting System cutout template vertically
and horizontally with the proposed grill location. Tape it to the wall surface
making sure it is level with the TV and trace it using a pencil. Drill the four
corners of the trace with a 1/4” drill bit.
5. If you are cutting a painted or wall papered drywall, use a sheetrock or
keyhole saw.
NOTE: BE VERY CAREFUL NOT TO SAW THROUGH EXISTING WIRES, PIPES, OR STRUCTURE.
IF YOU FEEL ANY EXTRA RESISTANCE AS YOU ARE CUTTING, STOP.

INSTALLING THE SYSTEM CONTINUED...
INSTALL THE IN-WALL POWER SUPPLY BOX (POWERED MODELS ONLY)
1. Choose a location to install the In-Wall Mount Power Supply that is
either behind or below the TV and adjacent to an existing AC outlet
(page 14 Figure 6), Perform the steps listed on page 15 at the proposed
power supply location. Use the supplied In-Wall Power Supply Box
cutout template to mark the wall for cutting if there are no
obstructions found.
2. Route the 24V AC power wire on the rear of the power supply into this wall cutout and then out of the wall
at the speaker cutout location.
3. Fold in each of the four mounting clamps and insert the Power Supply Box into the wall cutout. Tighten each
of the four wall clamp screws inside the front edge of the power supply box to secure it in the wall.
DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN.
4. Screw the supplied finish faceplate on to the In-Wall Power Supply Box.
Important: Do not plug in the AC power cord until all other system connections are complete.
ASSEMBLE AND INSTALL THE IN-WALL MOUNTING SYSTEM (ALL MODELS)
1. Determine the number of Screw Down Slide Brackets needed for In-Wall Mounting System by counting the
number of wall studs that are exposed within the drywall cutout.
2. Slide the Screw Down Slide Brackets onto the Top and Bottom Rails as shown in Figure 7 and position them
to align with the exposed wall studs within the drywall cutout.
3. Insert a Clamp Down End Bracket, as shown in Figure 7, on the ends of the Mounting Rails that fall more
than 3” from a Screw Down Slide Bracket. See page 13 Figure 5 when the left or the right end of the
Mounting Rail falls too close to the side of a wall stud to provide the Clamp Down End Bracket with enough
drywall for clamping.
4. Align with and place the assembled In-Wall Mounting
System into the wall cutout and loosely screw the
Screw Down Slide Brackets to the wall studs with the
screws provided. Final tightening of these screws will
occur later in the installation procedure.

1. Prepare the speaker wire by stripping 1/4” from each conductor (see Figure 10 on
page 18). Twist the strands or tin the leads with solder to ensure there are no stray strands that could
short and possibly harm the amplifier.
2. Connect the speaker wires and the Amplifier Module power cable to the Amplifier Module using the
supplied two phoenix connectors and a small screw slotted screw driver making sure to connect in the
proper order and polarity.
3. Connect all the other wires and cables routed to the Amplifier Module and SW-T as depicted in the system
diagrams starting on page 24, that best matches your configuration. Important: Do not plug in the AC
power cord until all other system connections are complete.
NOTE: After ensuring all the connections are made correctly, plug in the AC power cord and test the operation of the system
before completing the installation in the next steps and snapping the modules into the rails.
INSTALL THE IN BETWEEN COVERS AND JOINERS (ALL MODELS)
The empty spaces that are created in the In-Wall Mounting System “in between” the installed
Speaker Modules and Amplifier Module are filled by the supplied In Between Covers and
Joiners. In Between Covers are pre-scored and designed to be broken into the sizes needed
to fill these variably sized spaces. In Between Joiners are designed to cover the seams of
adjacent In between Covers. A 3/8” overhang is included on both sides of the Amplifier and
Speaker Modules to make sizing the In Between Covers easier.
1. Identify and measure all of the spaces left in between the Speaker and
Amplifier Modules.
2. Run a razor knife along a pre-scored marking on the back of the In
Between Covers and break those into the sizes needed
(see Figure 12).
NOTE: You must include a space of 3/8” to 1/2” between any two In Between Covers that will be installed adjacent to each
other. This will allow room for an In Between Joiner to be installed and to hide the seam.
3. Install the sized In Between Covers by snapping them into their respective empty spaces
(see page 21 Figure 13).
4. Install an In Between Joiner by snapping it into the 3/8” to 1/2” space left between any two In Between
Covers (see page 21 Figure 13)
