This Data Card comes with O2Connection Manager software which we have
developed to help you get the most out of your laptop and Data Card.
The software allows you to control your card as well as your Wireless LAN
connection (either built-in to your laptop or as a PC Card). You don’t have
to use Wireless LAN to use this software though – you can use it just for
your O2card.
The software can be used as your control centre, to launch your web
browser or email program, as well as to find the nearest O2Wireless LAN
access point to connect to. You can also track your usage on 3G/GPRS or
Wireless LAN for the day or across several days – usage is approximate only.
1. Set up your laptop
Before you can use your card, you need to install O2Connection Manager on
your laptop.
Insert the CD in your CD Drive. The installation program will autostart – if it
does not, select Start,Run,D:\run.exe where D: is your CD-ROM drive letter.
Follow the instructions to install the software – your machine will be
restarted once this is complete.
You will need to read the licence agreement and click Yes if you agree to
the conditions. You will not be able to proceed without agreeing to the
licence agreement.

Your O2card is tri-band and is designed to work on GPRS networks – as
used in many countries around the world – and 3G, the new networks just
becoming available. The card can be set to automatically swap between
GPRS and 3G – you will see this by the change in the flashing light, from
blue to green and vice versa.
In GPRS mode your average speeds will be equivalent to a dial-up connection
from your home PC.
In 3G mode you can achieve speeds close to home broadband.
The speed of your connection is affected by several factors including
coverage, other users, and what network you’re connected to.
And if you have a WLAN enabled laptop, why not sign up for O2’s Wireless
LAN service allowing you broadband access to the Internet at key locations
across the UK and Europe. Contact your service provider for more details.
