NVX smart battery isolators are microprocessor-controlled dual battery isolators
used in dual battery systems. They are designed to be used as a solenoid priority
system to protect the start battery from excessive discharge, while allowing the auxiliary
battery to supply non-essential loads.
The dual sensing smart isolatorshave the added feature of allowing charge both
ways where the auxiliary batterymay also be charged by an external source such
as Solar panels or an external AC batterycharger. They will also allow the start
batteryto be charged by the external source once the auxiliary battery reaches
13.2 volts to help topupthe start battery.

The Smart Battery Isolator is designed specifically for use in multi-battery applications. The XSBi series
of isolators primarily monitors the main starter battery voltage. Once the starter battery voltage
reaches 13.2 volts, the solenoid automatically connects the auxiliary battery to the charging system.
When the whole system drops below 12.7 volts the solenoid opens and isolates the starter battery from
the auxiliary battery. This ensures you should never have a drained starter battery again.

SPECIFICATIONS
INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
Make sure the auxiliary battery negative is properly grounded to the vehicle chassis.
Connect the Smart Battery Isolator ground terminal to chassis ground.
Connect power from the main battery to the input of the isolator.
Connect power from the output of the isolator to the secondary battery.
Connect the cables in the order shown on the next page.
(Optional) Plug in the manual start switch into the 3.5mm jack. To manually operate
the Smart Battery Isolator, press the manual switch and the isolator will manually
operate for 60 seconds.
Remove any paint to ensure a good ground connection.
It is recommended to install a fuse holder or a circuit breaker to
the power wire going into the isolator
It is recommended to install a fuse holder or a circuit breaker out of
the isolator to the secondary battery.
Note: A good ground will ensure correct switching voltage.

FAULT INDICATION
Dual Sensing Smart Battery Isolators monitor both the start battery and the auxiliary. If the
unit detects that either battery has exceeded 13.2 volts, then the isolator will be connected.
The benefit of the dual control enables the user to charge the main battery from a solar
panel or battery charger on the auxiliary battery.
The LED may stay ON for a period after the vehicle is turned OFF. Should a fault occur, the
LED on the manual switch is set to notify the operator of the fault. The LED will flash with the
following sequences:
