Step 5: Set the eyepiece focus
Have your patient look through the Falcon at the center of an eye chart held
about 20-40” (0.5 to 1.0m) away. Choose print several sizes above their best
acuity. Insert the eyepiece focus adjustment tool and rotate it to move the
eyepiece in or out until the image is in focus for the patient. Now confirm the
focus at distance and refine the adjustment if needed. The adjustable
eyepiece will correct for refractions up to +/- 8D. Focusing the eyepiece ‘in’
corrects for myopia, ‘out’ for hyperopia. The indented ring on the black
eyepiece when touching the case is approximately the neutral focus position.
