Step 1: Align the eyepiece for the eye
Loosen the two rear mounting screws and slide the telescope right or left to align
the eyepiece directly above the eye that will use the telescope.
For use by the other eye, loosen the rear mounting screws a little further and
slide the telescope off the bracket, flip it over and reinsert it on the mounting
bracket.

Step 2: Adjust the nosepads
Adjust the nosepads so that the bottom of the eyepiece aligns with the
top of the patient’s pupil

Step 3: Align the viewing angle
When the patient lowers their head to look through the telescope, adjust
the viewing angle of the Falcon so the patient’s line of sight is parallel to
the seam on the side of the telescope.

Step 4: Attach the battery
It won’t work unless it’s plugged in! You can use either port. Once
plugged in the lights on the battery illuminate and the Falcon starts
automatically.

Step 5: Set the eyepiece focus
Have your patient look through the Falcon at the center of an eye chart held
about 20-40” (0.5 to 1.0m) away. Choose print several sizes above their best
acuity. Insert the eyepiece focus adjustment tool and rotate it to move the
eyepiece in or out until the image is in focus for the patient. Now confirm the
focus at distance and refine the adjustment if needed. The adjustable
eyepiece will correct for refractions up to +/- 8D. Focusing the eyepiece ‘in’
corrects for myopia, ‘out’ for hyperopia. The indented ring on the black
eyepiece when touching the case is approximately the neutral focus position.
DO NOT OVER-TURN THE FOCUS TOOL!

Step 6: Lock the eyepiece
When dispensing the Falcon to your patient, use the Allen wrench to lock
the eyepiece in place. DO NOT OVER-TIGHTEN THE SETSCREW.

Step 7: Close the focus port
Close the focus access port by inserting the plug provided. It can be
easily removed if the Falcon needs to be re-focused.

Step 8: Demonstrate the focus
over-ride button
Review the instructions about how to use the focus over-ride button to
lock the focus in place at distance or any near position.
