Description
Device description
The BSR-2143 unit is used to inspect and program
the addressable devices of Olympia Electronics.
The devices that can be programmed using the
BSR-2143 are:
-BSR-6055/A Addressable smoke detector.
-BSR-6060/A Addressable temperature detector.
The device operates with batteries and can be
switched OFF in order to preserve the batteries
when not in use.
The adjacent figure shows the device switched OFF.
The device under inspection is placed on the base
of the unit located on the top side taking care to
align the side lines with the side lines of the detector.
Rotate the detector clockwise in order to secure it to
the tester.
The ON/OFF switch is found in the center of the
base and is blue in color.
In the center of the tester is the keyboard and the
LCD screen.
The keyboard consists of the keys :
- 0 to 9 : which are used to enter numbers. Also the
keys 2 and 8 are used to navigate between the
menus
- Enter : Is used to enter a menu or to verify a
selection.
- ESC : Is used to exit from a menu or to cancel a
selection.
- LED : Is used to change the state of the indication
LED of the device under test.
- REMOTE : Is used to change the state of the
BSR-2143 Programming and inspection unit
for addressable devices

external LED/ remote led of the device under
test.
Operation of the tester
To activate the device, use the ON/OFF switch.
When the device is turned ON the screen is lit
and the main menu is shown.
Install the detector under test on the testers
base as shown in figure 2.
To highlight a different option use the keys «2»
and «8» and to select it press «Enter»
The options available are the following :
- CHANGE ADDRESS (Figure 3). Using this
selection we can change the address of the
detector under test.
In the area with the label OLD we can see the
current address of the detector.
Now we can enter the new address using the
keys «0» to «9».
For example, if we want the address 10 then
we must enter 0-1-0.
- COMMUNICATION (Figure 4). Used to test
the communication with the detector under
test.
This option contains the address of the detector
under test, its type, flag and value. If the value
is above 100 then the detector has issued an
alarm.
Finally there are counters that are used to
show the good or bad communication between
the tester and the detector under test.
With the «Enter» key we can reset the
counters.
Keep in mind that a detector is considered to
have good communication if it has at least
1000 good packets and 0 error packets.

-BATTERY VOLTAGE (Figure 6).
Shows the battery voltage. If the voltage is
below 13V it must be replaced.
-SELECT LANGUAGE (Figure 7). Select the
language of the device (GREEK - ENGLISH ).
Use this to change the language of the menus.
-KEYBOARD SOFT VERS (Figure 8).
