For optimum performance, the ability to detect objects such as smoking devices, inattentiveness sleepiness and drowsiness,
the Sensor camera should be installed at a location that meets all of the following requirements:
1. Inside the vehicle interior –the Sensor Camera is not designed for use at the vehicle exterior
2. From just below driver eye level to no more than 18 inches (45 cm) below driver eye level when the driver is in the seat
looking forward towards the road
3. No more than 39 inches (100 cm) distance from the sensor to the driver’s head
4. A clear unobstructed view of the driver’s face and upper torso
5. Within an arch that is 25 degrees or less to either side of the driver’s typical head placement
6. More than 4 Inches (10 cm) distance from the SR4 Sensor Bar
7. There isn’t a blind spot into the road or obstructions to the ability to safely operate the vehicle
8. The AI Sensor camera can be swiveled to point at the driver’s head
*Note: The company may elect to place the sensor camera at a location that is above driver eye level, such as at the top of
the center of the windshield near to where the forward camera is placed. Sensor camera placement above driver eye level
will result in non-performance of drowsiness and sleepiness detection which will be disabled. Inattentiveness and object
detection will still function. Always verify that this alternative mounting location is company approved prior to mounting the
sensor in this manner.

Mounting the Inattentive Driving camera
Mount the camera in one of the approved locations as described in the
previous slide. Camera is aimed at the driver’s face.
Camera must be below the visor.
1. Using an alcohol pad clean the windshield and wipe dry with a clean cloth.
Do not use shop rags which contain grease even when clean.
2. Starting with top, slowly roll the mounting brackets of the camera on to the
windshield, keeping the Inattentive camera mount level and press firmly.
3. After mounting, you can view the camera from the exterior of the vehicle
(when mounted to the windshield). Dark spots on the bracket indicate
proper adhesion and light spots indicate poor adhesion. Pressure needs to
be applied to the mount in the areas that don’t show proper adhesion.
4. The left camera lens is the AI sensing camera used to detect inattentive
driving. At the top of the housing is a screw, loosen this screw and adjust the
AI sensing camera lens to point at the area where the driver’s head is likely
to be when seated looking at the road ahead
5. After aiming the AI camera lens secure the screw at the top of the housing so
that the lens can’t be adjusted outside the installation process

Controller Connections: Inattentive Driving camera (ETH)
Connect the Cat5 Ethernet connector into the (ETH) port on
the back of the controller to connect the Inattentive Driving
camera
The sensor camera has a three-wire cable that connects on
one end to the Sensor Camera, and at the other end to
vehicle 12v constant power, chassis ground, and the SR4
controller’s Ethernet port. Once the camera is mounted:
1. Run the camera cables to the SR4 Controller using the
same path as previously used for the former driver
camera or the SR4 Road camera.
2. Ensure the cable is secure under the headliner. Secure if
needed to avoid the cable from sagging and becoming a
hazard to the driver.
3. Remove the backing plate from the SR4 controller and
connect the Ethernet (RJ 45 connector) from the cable to
the Ethernet port of the controller

4. Reassemble the controller and place it back into its
normal mounting location
5. Route the Red and Black power leads from the Sensor
Camera cable to the vehicle and connect them as
follows: **
a) Red fused lined is to be connected to the 12 Vdc
constant power source
b) Black line is to be connected to a chassis ground. Be
sure to use the same ground plane as the SR4
controller
** Note: As with all Power connections,
verify operation with a Multimeter
and all connection methods should be
following Omnitracs installation best practices

Calibrate the Inattentive Driving camera
Before you start the calibration process:
Document the SmartDrive Controller Serial Number and the
Vehicle ID for future use
Turn on the vehicle before using the App
You have 5 minutes to connect to the Controller via
Bluetooth
If you don’t see the controller’s serial number in the App,
turn the ignition ‘off’ and back ‘on’ to restart Bluetooth
Refer to the Diagnostic Mode and Self QA section for
additional SmartDrive Technician App instructions.

Calibrate the Inattentive Driving camera
Sensor Camera Calibration
After the installation of the camera a quick calibration is required to ensure the sensor is
aimed correctly
1. Using the SmartDrive M4 Bit loosen the lock screw above the Inattentive camera (Left
camera). This will allow the camera lens to be moved left or right.
2. Log into the SR4 Unit using the SmartDrive Technician tool (Version 3.9 or higher)
3. Select “Verify Installation”
4. Select “NEW INSTALL” on the Work performing tab.
5. Select the following under the “what are you working on today” tab SmartDrive camera
and Sensor Camera. The rest can be unchecked. Then select the arrow at bottom right
corner to advance to next screen.
6. This screen is the Driver Camera page. Press “Generate Test Image” To confirm view. Select
arrow at the bottom right to advance to next screen.
7. This screen is the Sensor Camera (Find Head) Page. While sitting in a relaxed driving
position you want to adjust the camera left or right to place the X as close as possible to
the NOSE region of the face as shown below. Once the aiming point is set you can secure
the Security M4 screw and select the arrow at the bottom right to advance to the
calibration page

Inattentive Driving Calibration Steps
8. On the Sensor Camera Calibrate page, select the “Start Calibration
Count Down” Tab. Once you do this “DO NOT MOVE YOUR HEAD”
as the camera is calibrating. At the end of this cycle, you will hear a
shutter sound from the application and the calibration is complete.
You will receive a notation stating, “Calibration Successful” If you
received a Calibration Failed then repeat Step 8 until you received a
Successful Calibration.
9. Select the arrow at the bottom right to precede to next screen.
