1. Safety and Maintenance Instructions
•Only use DC Power Sources provided or approved by Optilia.
•Only use accessories provided or approved by Optilia.
•Keep the equipment clean. Use damp cloth or Isopropyl alcohol for cleaning
surfaces of the device.
•Never use Acetone or other similar solvents for cleaning.
•Never knock or drop the device.
•Keep the device away from the direct sun-light, heat and extreme humidity.
•Store the equipment dust free environment when not used.
•Device is designed to use indoors only.
2. Description
State of the art external SD-card Capture device with industrial grade aluminium housing for
professional applications. Capture, save and display still images from any Optilia HD
Inspection Camera Microscope without use of PC. Overlay CAD drawings, Images and
Custom Designed Patterns as Digital Graticule on live image of the streamed video.

3. Connections and Power-On Sequence
1. Connect the HD Component output from the Optilia HD Camera to HD Component In of
HD-CAP.
2. Connect the HDMI cable to HDMI out and HDMI input of the monitor. If you are
connecting to a HD-TV please set the screen mode to “Auto Adjust”/ “Under Scan” from
the TVs menu system.
3. Connect the footswitch (optional item OP-006 401).
4. Insert the SD Card (SDHC Card up to 32GB, highest speed recommended).
5. Turn on the HD Camera.
6. Connect the power to the DC-IN of the HD-CAP.
Within few seconds Optilia logo is visible on the screen and red LED lights on. After another
few seconds, live image on the screen will be visible and LED should switch to blue before
using the buttons. To power off simply remove the power connector.
Note: In ESD protected environment, connect the ground connection point of the HD-CAP to
the earth if needed with a M3 screw.

4. Controls
Capture: Captures still image to the SD-Card.
…Confirm: Applies the Digital Graticule on the live image.
Menu: Displays and scrolls throughs still images on the SD-Card and other menu functions.
…Graticule : Displays and scrolls throughs digital graticules on the SD-Card.
Run: Runs live image.
...Sleep: Hold on 5 Second to put the device to sleep mode. The video and LED will switch
off. Hold on 3 seconds to wake up the device from sleep mode. The LED will light and in few
seconds live image will be visible.
Status LED: LED will light blue when the live image is on and device is ready for interaction.
LED will flash green when a command is accepted. LED will light red when device is booting
up or busy.

5. Capturing and Reviewing Still Images
To capture a still image, press on the Capture button or footswitch. The image will be
saved to the SD-card in “JPG” format with a sequence number.
To review a captured image, press on the Menu button. A list of saved images will appear
on the left side of the screen. To scroll through the list either step through one at a time by
pressing on the Menu button or fast scroll by press and keeping the Menu button pressed.
Current highlighted image will be displayed.
To go back to live image, Select “Live” on the image list or press the Run button.
6. Displaying a Graticule on Live Image (OP-009 081)
A transparent or semi-transparent picture can be blended with the live image by HD-CAP.
Start with CAD file of your part or product and generate your own ”Digital Graticule”
containing measurement lines, geometry figures, patterns, annotations, etc. and move them
to the SD-card.
Graticule images are saved on SD-card in PNG format and automatically recognised by HD-
CAP for superimposing on live video of your HD inspection camera.
To review and select the desired graticule press and hold the …Graticule button down
until the list appears in the top left of the screen. To scroll through the list either step
through one at a time by clicking the Menu button or fast scroll by press and keeping
Menu button pressed.
To select the desired graticule, press the …Confirm button. A confirmation message will
appear. Toggle between “Confirm” and “Cancel”with the Menu button and select with
…Confirm button. Select “Live” on the list or press the Run button to close the graticule
list.
To go remove the digital graticule, press and hold button …Graticule and select “Live”
from the graticule list.
Note: The digital graticule must be “PNG” image with transparent background and the image
resolution should match the HD Camera’s resolution.

7. Transferring Images between the HD-CAP and a PC
Captured images can be transferred by moving the SD-card to a computer with a SD-card
reader or via USB connection without removing the SD-card. The reference images or digital
graticules can be transferred to HD-CAP from a PC with the same file transfers methods. All
images should be in root folders. Images under subfolder will not be detected by the HD-
CAP.
8. Displaying Reference Images to an External Screen
HD-CAP allows you to access still images on the SD-Card and simultaneously display them
on a second monitor that has USB input. This function is extremely useful when you need a
“reference image” next to the live image of your inspection object using two monitors.
Connect the USB output of the HD-CAP to a USB compatible monitor, and select desired
image via monitor.
9. Software Updates
Users can update the software of the HD-CAP. Please check regularly www.optilia.eu for
software updates. Instructions of software upgrade will be published with the upgrade
package.
Getting Help
Please check first F.A.Q and Support Documents pages in Optilia homepage. It is
recommended to go through the following checklist before contacting your local Optilia
representative.
Unplug the power and unplug the cables.
Make sure the HD Camera is powered on.
Follow the power on sequence at Section 3.
Make sure the correct input selected in your monitor.
