OR 1300 PortableWindMachine 2.2023 V6.docx - Page 4
The list of warnings and guidelines in this manual must be followed at all
times. Failure to heed and follow these and other common-sense procedures
could result in severe injury or death or damage to your wind machine.
We recommend that you have your wind machine service and maintenance
performed by an authorized Orchard-Rite® dealer and/or service provider.
We strongly advise against attempting the service and maintenance of your
own wind machine.
Remember, when operating or maintaining your wind machine, always heed
the warnings listed in this manual and on your machine.

1. Orchard-Rite Ltd., Inc., the manufacturer of Orchard-Rite® wind machines, recommends avoiding
operations of the wind machines in wind speeds in excess of 4mph to avoid excessive wear on the
machine components. Wind machine operation is undertaken predominantly at night during
periods of weather conductive to frost, i.e. calm, clear nights. Historical and customary use
of the wind machines around the world is consistent with these conditions. It is accepted and widely
known in the industry that the presence of significant cold air drifts and early morning wind shifts will
see the wind machines operating in much higher wind speeds. The wind machines have a safety factor
of operation up to 20mph when properly maintained. The manufacturer guideline of 4mph is for
longevity of components. Operation in windy conditions can cause the fan blade, drive train, or tower to
vibrate violently resulting in damage or breakage to the wind machine’s components.
2. Always disable / disconnect the battery before performing any service or maintenance on your wind
machine
3. Do not run a wind machine under foggy conditions. Ice may form on the blades and can cause a
severe blade imbalance, damage or breakage to the fan blade, tower, drive train, or top gear box.
4. Never stand in direct line with the fan blade’s plane of rotation when it is in operation. The
likelihood of injury from material thrown off by the blade is increased when standing in the blades’
rotation.
5. Never operate a wind machine without all the guards and protective covers in place.
