Getting BT Notifier
Android
For your convenience we have uploaded the BT
Nonfiction APK to our website. Simply visit the
following link:
http://www.iwantiot.com/viper-support/
From there, you will want to locate the “Download
APK” button and click it.
It will automatically begin to download a zip file
with the APK in it.
What is an APK? And why do I need it?
An APK is an Android Application Package.
Essentially, it is the application file for Android
devices.
The reason you need to download this is because
for the Viper’s push notifications to work with your
android device, you will need the software
provided to send and receive notifications to and
from your Android device.
If I have a SIM card in my watch, will I still need the
APK?
If you have a SIM card in your Viper watch, then you
do not need to have the APK installed onto your
Android device, unless you wish for your phone and
watch to sync with one another. If you have a SIM
card in your Viper watch, then the Bluetooth
connection will still work, so don’t worry, you don’t
need to choose between the two!
Installing the APK file
If you have downloaded the file on a PC / Mac, please
follow the following steps:
1. Go to where the file was downloaded, and unzip
the file (this is done by double clicking on the
file).
2. If you are on a PC, drag the APK file out of the
zip folder (if you are using a Mac, it will
automatically do this for you).
3. From here you will want to attach your Android
device to your PC / Mac via USB and drag the
file into the device’s storage. We recommend that
you put the file in “Download” so that it is easily
found for the next step (see images below for
reference).
4. Now that you have the file on your Android
device, locate (depending on the Android version
that you are using) either File Manager (for
Android devices under 5.0) or My Files (for
devices above 5.0)
5. Locate the Download folder that you put the APK
in (usually found on the first page of the File
Manager, or in “Local Storage”).
-If you put the file on your SIM card,
simply locate the APK in the folder
that you put it in (see Step 3).
6. Tap on the APK file, it will look the same as the
image below (version number may vary
depending on time of reading).
7. By default, Android will prevent you from
installing an APK this way, however, to provide
permission to install the app this way, you will
have to enable “Unknown sources”.
8. Congratulations! You have your BT Notification
successfully installed!
If you are downloading the file directly onto your
Android device, please follow the following steps:
1. Locate where the file has been downloaded, by
default your file should be downloaded to the
Download folder (you can access this in either
File Manager or My Files, depending on the
version of Android you are using).
2. Locate the zip file and press on it, it will ask you
to extract the file. Accept the extraction.
3. From here, find the file that has been extracted,
in this case it is called “Smartwatch_3.0.2_64”
and open it.
4. Open the folder, and press the APK file to open,
and begin the installation.
5. By default, Android will prevent you from
installing an APK this way, however to provide
permission to install the app this way, you will
have to enable “Unknown sources”.
6. Congratulations! You have your BT Notification
successfully installed!
