This manual provides step-by-step installation instructions, and information required for
ongoing use and maintenance of the PowerLoader tape drive system. This manual is
written for the installer and user of this equipment.

SCSI Interface Ultra2 /Wide LVD with high-density 68-pin series con-
nectors.
Fan Single forced air. Provides optimum cooling for critical
parts and prevents drive, robotics, motors and power
supply from overheating.
Power Connector Single IEC-compatible socket connects to any properly
grounded outlet. Auto-ranging power supply adjusts
automatically to operating voltages of 100 to 240VAC.
Operates at 50 or 60 Hz without requiring modification.

The PowerLoader, equipped with a 15-cartridge (DLT/SDLT) or a 17-cartridge (LTO) magazine
is accessible through the door at the center of the front panel. It is protected from tampering
and inadvertent removal by an electronically controlled lock.

This chapter describes installing your PowerLoader. It includes:

Setting Up the PowerLoader
To set up the PowerLoader, do the following:
•Follow the directions in the shipping container to unpack the PowerLoader.
•Save the packing materials in case you need to return the unit for repairs.
•You do not have to assemble anything.
•Place the PowerLoader on a stable horizontal surface with at least a 2-inch clearance
behind the chassis to allow sufficient cooling air to flow freely from the fan.

All SCSI cables used with the PowerLoader should meet the following requirements:
•Shielded or double-shielded, as required to meet EMI specifications
•Impedance match with cable terminators of 132 ohms
•Characteristic impedance between 90 and 132 ohms (required)
