WARNING- Failure to follow these instructions
andwarnings mayresult in death,personal
injury, orproperty damage.
1.Readcarefully andunderstandoperator manual
priortooperation ofthis product.Follow all
warnings and instructions.
2.Know your equipment. Considerthe applications,
limitations,and thepotentialhazards specificto
your unit.
3.Equipmentmust be placed on a firm, supporting
surface.
4.Loadmust bekept withinrating stated on
generator nameplate. Overloading willdamage
theunit or shorten its life.
5.Enginemust not berunat excessivespeeds.
Operating an engineat excessive speedsincreases
thehazard of personal injury.
Donot tamper with parts which may increase
ordecreasethegovernedspeed.
6.To preventaccidental starting,alwaysremove the
spark plugorcable fromthe sparkplug before
maintainingthe generator or engine.
7.Units withbrokenor missing parts, or without
protectivehousingor covers,should never be
operated.Contact your servicecenterfor
replacement parts.
8.Units shouldnot be operated or storedin wet or
damp conditions oronhighlyconductive
locations such as metal deckingand steel work.
9. Keepthe generatorclean andfree of oil, mudand
otherforeign matter.
10.Extension cords,power cords, and all electrical
equipmentmust be ingoodcondition. Never
operateelectricalequipmentwith damaged or
defectivecords.
11.Storethe generatorinawellventilatedareawith
thefueltankempty. Fuelshould not bestored near
thegenerator.
12.Your generatorshould never be operated under
these conditions:
a.Uncontrolled changein enginespeed.
b.Electricaloutputloss.
c.Overheating inconnected equipment.
d.Sparking.
e.Damagedreceptacles.
f.Engine misfire.
g.Excessivevibration.
h.Flame or smoke.
i.Enclosedcompartment.
j.Rain, snoworinclement weather.Do not let
theunitgetwet whenoperating.
13.Check the fuelsystemperiodically for leaks or
signs of deteriorationsuchaschafed or spongy
hose, looseormissing clamps, or damaged tank or
cap.All defects should be corrected before
operation.
14.The generator shouldbeoperated,serviced,and
refueled onlyunderthe followingconditions:
a.Startand run thegenerator outdoors. Do
notrun the generatorin an enclosedarea,
evenifdoorsorwindows are open; avoid
areaswhere vapors may be trapped,suchas
pits, garages,cellars, excavations and boat
bilges. DANGER - CARBON MONOXIDE
HAZARD: Theengineexhaustcontains
carbonmonoxide,apoisonous,odorless,
invisible gas which, ifbreathed,may cause
death or seriouspersonal injury. If you start
tofeelsick, dizzy orweakwhileusingthe
generator, shut it off and get to fresh air
right away;you may havecarbon monoxide
poisoning.
b.Good ventilation forcooling.Airflow and
temperatures are important forair cooled
units.Temperatures shouldnot exceed104º F
ambient(40ºC).
c.Refuel thegenerator in a well lighted area.
Avoid fuel spillsand never refuel while the
generator is running. Allowengine to cool for
two minutesprior to refueling.
DANGER indicates apotentially
hazardoussituation which, ifnot
avoided,WILLresult in death or
serious injury.

d.Do notrefuel nearopen flames, pilotlights, or
sparkingelectricalequipment such aspower
tools,welders, andgrinders.
e.The mufflerand aircleaner mustbeinstalled
and in good conditionat alltimes as they
function as flamearrestersif backfiringoccurs.
f.Do notsmoke near thegenerator.
15.Ensure that generator is properly grounded. (See
“Grounding thegenerator”section in this
manual.)
16.Do not wearloose clothing,jewelry,oranything
that may be caughtinthestarter or otherrotating
parts.
17.Unitmust reachoperatingspeed beforeelectrical
loads are connected.Disconnectloadsbefore
turning off engine.
18.To prevent surging that may possiblydamage
equipment, do notallow engine to run out of fuel
when electrical loads areapplied.
19.When powering solidstate equipment, a Power
Line Conditionershould be usedtoavoidpossible
damage to equipment.
20.Do notstickanything through ventilatingslots,
even when the generator is not operating.Thiscan
damage thegenerator or causepersonal injury.
21.Before transportingthe generator inavehicle,
drain all fueltopreventleakagethatmayoccur.
22.Useproperlifting techniqueswhen transporting
thegenerator fromsite to site.Improper lifting
techniquesmay result in personalinjury.
23.To avoid burns,donot touch engine muffleror
other engineor generatorsurfaceswhich became
hot during operation.
YOUR PRODUCTMAYNOT BE EQUIPPED WITH
ASPARKARRESTINGMUFFLER. If theproduct willbe
used around flammable materials,suchasagricultural crops,
forests,brush, grass,or othersimilaritems, then an approved
spark arrestershould be installedand is legally requiredin the
StateofCalifornia.TheCaliforniastatutes requiring a spark
arresterare Sections 13005(b),4442 and4443. Spark
Arresters are also requiredon some U.S. ForestService land
and may alsobelegallyrequiredunder other statutesand
ordinances.An approvedspark arrester is available fromour
product dealers, or maybe ordered fromPramac America,
LLC, P.O. Box 6001, Kearney,Nebraska 68847.

Inorder toprevent overloadingand possibledamageto
your generator itisnecessary to know thetotal wattage of the
connectedload.To determine which toolsand/orappliances
your generator will run follow thesesteps:
1.Determineifyouwant to run oneitem or multipleitems
simultaneously.
2.Check wattagerequirements for theitems you willbe
running byreferringtothe load’snameplateor by
calculatingit (multiplyamps x volts= watts).
3.Total the wattsforeachitem.Ifthe nameplateonly gives
voltsandamps,multiply volts xamps = watts.
1KW =1,000 watts.
4.Motorizedappliancesor tools require more than their
rated wattage for startup.
NOTE: Allow 2 1/2to4 times thelistedwattage for
startingequipment poweredby electric motors.
5.Thegenerator’sratedwattsshouldmatchor exceed the
total numberof watts requiredforthe equipment you
want torun.
6.Always connect theheaviestloadtothe generatorfirst,
thenadd other itemsoneat a time.

Apower lineconditioner shouldbeused when running
oneormore of thefollowing solidstate items:

Kitchenapplianceswith digital displays
Televisions
Stereos
Personal computers
Quartz clocks
Copymachines
Telephoneequipment
Other solid stateequipment may requireapower line
conditioner.For more information, contactourCustomer
ServiceDepartmentat 1-800-445-1805.
To avoid backfeeding intoutilitysystems,isolation of the
residence electrical systemisrequired.
Before temporary connection of thegenerator to the
residence electrical system, turn offthe main
service/disconnect.
If your generator is to be used as a stand-by powersource
in caseofutilitypower failure, it should beinstalled by a
registered electrician andincompliance withallapplicable
localelectrical codes.
Proper use requiresthatadouble throw transferswitch be
installed by a licensed qualifiedelectricianso that the
building's electricalcircuitsmay besafelyswitched between
utilitypower andthe generator's output,thereby preventing
backfeed intothepowerutility's electrical system.
Always follow localcodes and regulations thatapplyto
theinstallationof any itemthatconcerns thisproduct.

CAUTION:Operating voltageandfrequency
requirementof allelectronicequipment should be
checkedpriorto pluggingtheminto thisgenerator.
Damage mayresult if the equipment isnot designed
to operatewithin a+/-10% voltage variation, and +/-
3 hz frequency variation from the generatorname
plate ratings. Toavoid damage, always havean
additionalload plugged into the generator ifsolid
stateequipment(such as a television set) is used. A
power lineconditioner is recommended forsome solid
stateapplications.

Toavoid possible personalinjury orequipment
damage, a registeredelectrician oran authorized
servicerepresentative shouldperform installation and
all service.Under no circumstancesshould an
unqualifiedperson attempt to wire into a utility
circuit.
To avoidbackfeedingintoutilitysystems, isolationof
the residence electricalsystemisrequired. Before
temporary connection of a generator totheresidence
electrical system turn off themain switch.Before
makingpermanent connections adoublethrow
transfer switch must beinstalled. Toavoid
electrocution orproperty damage, onlya trained
electrician should connect generatorto residence
electrical system.California law requires isolation of

LUBRICATION
DONOT attempt to start thisenginewithout filling the
crank case withthe proper amountand typeofoil. Your
generatorhasbeen shipped fromthefactory without oil inthe
crankcase. Operating theunit withoutoil can damagethe
engine.
Filltheengine withoil according to the operator manual.
For unitswithadipstick, fill oiltothe proper level. Units
withoutadipstick shouldbefilled tothe top of theopening of
theoil fill.
LOWOILSENSOR
Theunit is equipped with a lowoil sensor.If the oil level
becomeslower than required, the sensor willactivatea
warning deviceorstopthe engine.
Ifgenerator shuts offand theoil leveliswithin
specifications,check to seeifgenerator is sitting atanangle
that forcesoil to shift. Placeonanevensurface to correct this.
Ifengine fails to start, the oillevel may not besufficientto
deactivatelow oil levelswitch. Makesurethesumpis
completely full of oil.
FUEL
Fillthe tank with clean,fresh unleaded automotive
gasoline. Regular grade gasoline maybe used providedahigh
octanerating is obtained(at least85pump octane).We
recommendalways usingafuelstabilizer. A fuelstabilizer
willminimizethe formulation of fuelgum depositsduring
storage.Thefuelstabilizer can be added to the gasolineinthe
fueltank,or intothe gasolinein a storage container.

At highaltitude,the standard carburetor air-fuel mixture
will be toorich.Performance willdecreaseand fuel
consumptionwill increase.Avery richmixturewill also foul
thespark plugand cause hardstarting.Operation atan
altitudethatdiffersfromthat atwhich thisengine was
certified,forextendedperiods of time, may increase
emissions.
Highaltitude performance canbe improvedbyspecific
modifications tothe carburetor.Ifyoualwaysoperate your
engineat altitudesabove1,829 meters (6,000 feet),haveyour
authorized servicecenter performacarburetor modification.
Even withacarburetor modification, enginehorsepower
will decrease about 3.5%for each 300 meter(1,000foot)
increase in altitude.Theeffect of altitudeon horsepowerwill
begreater if no carburetormodification is made.Adecrease
in enginehorsepower willdecreasethepower output of the
generator.
NOTICE: Warrantyis Void if thenecessary adjustments for

4.Adjust choke (B) as necessary.
5.Set theengine switch (C) to the“ON" position.

engine warmsup, readjust thechoke.

SPARK ARRESTER SCREEN
Remove screen every 50 hoursfor cleaning andinspection.

Clean and inspect the sparkarresteras follows:
1.Remove the screenretainerby removing the retainer clamp.
2.Remove the retainerscrewfrom the muffleroutlettube.
3.Slide the spark arrester screenout from the muffleroutlettube.
4.Be careful not to damage the sparkarrestingscreen. The
sparkarrestermustbe free of breaks and holes.Ifscreen
isnot damaged, cleanitwith a commericalsolvent.
5.Replace the screen and retainerand secure with retainer screw
andclamp.
GENERATOR: Brushes
The brushes in thegenerator should be inspectedonce every year
for chips and cracks.Brushes shouldbe replacedwhen they are worn
to1/4inch(7mm).
NOTE:Replace brushes insets only,neverseparately.
Replaceonlywithbrushesspecifiedin partslist.Otherbrushes
may appear to be identicalbut may havecompletelydifferent
mechanical and electrical characteristics.
INSPECTINGTHE BRUSHES:
1.Remove 2screws (V) andend cover(W).
2.Remove screw(X) holdingthe brush module (Y).
3.Disconnect the blue (+) and yellow (-) brushwires from the
tabs.
4.Replace ifwornto 1/4 inch (7mm).
5.Do not overtightenscrew.
HEATSHIELD:
Inspecttoensurethatallheatshieldsand heat deflectorsareintact
and in place. Donot remove any parts or modify parts. Removingor
modifying parts couldcauseserious damage to the unit.
ENGINE: CarburetorIcing
During the wintermonths,rareatmosphericconditions may
developwhichwill causeanicing conditionin the carburetor.Ifthis

LONGTERM STORAGE
When the generator set isnot beingoperatedor isbeing stored
more thanone month, follow these instructions:
1.Replenishengine oil to upper level.
2.Runthe generator,thenclose the fuel shut-off valve andallow
the unittorun until the engine stops.
3.Move the engine switchto the “OFF” position.
4.After the unit has cooled, drain gasoline from fuel tank, fuel line
and carburetor.
5.Pour about one teaspoonof engine oil through the sparkplug
hole,pullthe recoil starter severaltimes andreplace the plug.
Thenpullthe starteruntil you feelthe piston is on its
compressionstroke andleave itinthatposition. Thiscloses
both the intake and exhaust valves to prevent the inside of the
cylinderfrom rusting.
6.Coverthe unit andstore in a clean, dry place thatiswell
ventilatedawayfrom open flame or sparks.
NOTE: Werecommendalways usingafuel stabilizer.Afuel
stabilizerwill minimize the formulation of fuelgum deposits
during storage.The fuelstabilizercanbe addedto the gasoline
inthe fuel tank, orintothe gasoline inastorage container.

Afin d’éviter à lagénératrice lasurchargeet les
dommages possibles, ilfaut connaîtrela puissancetotalede la
charge branchée.Pour déterminer quels outils et/ou quels
appareils peuventfonctionner avec votre générateur, suivez
ces étapes:
1.Déterminez sivous désirez faire fonctionner un ou
plusieurs appareils simultanément.
2.Vérifiezles exigencesnormalespour démarreret faire
fonctionner lesappareils voulus en vous reportant à la
plaque signalétiquedecharge ou en effectuantce calcul
(multipliezles ampèresx volts =watts).
3.Additionnez lenombre de watts de démarrageet de
fonctionnement de chaqueappareil.Toutefois,la plaque
signalétique de l’équipement vous donnera des chiffres de
consommation d’électricitéplus exacts.Sila plaquene
vous donne quedes voltsetdes ampères, multipliezles
voltsparles ampères=watts.1KW= 1 000watts.

Pourévitertout dommage,toujours brancher une

appareilà circuits intégrés (tel qu’un téléviseur) est
utilisé. Une varistancepeutêtre aussinécessaire pour
certainesapplications, danslecas d’un ordinateur,

INSTALLATION
INSTALLATION
Pour éviter toute blessure ettout dommage auxappareils,
faire effectuerl’installationélectrique ettoutes réparations
par unélectricienlicencié ou un specialiste du service
après-vente agréé.En aucune circonstance,une personne
non qualifiée ne doit-elle essayer de réaliserle câblage sur
l’installation électrique existante.
Pour éviterles retours de courant dans le secteur, il est
nécessaire d’assurerl’isolation électrique de lamaison.
Avant d’effectuerla connexion temporaire du générateur
sur l’installation électrique de la maison, couper le courant
àl’interrupteurprincipal.Avant de réaliserdes connexions
permanentes, installerun commutateur de transfert àdeux
directions.Pour éviter toute électrocution oudes dommages
matériels,faire connecterle générateur àl’installation
électrique de lamaison parunélectricien qualifié. Leslois
californiennes exigent l’isolation de l’installation électrique
de la maison avant d’yconnecter un groupe électrogène.Il

PROTECTION AVEC DISJONCTEUR DIFFÉRENTIEL
(GFCI)
Une protection GFCI pour lepersonnelavant lamiseen marche
de la génératrice peut êtredemandéesur certains chantierset par
certains règlements locaux. Si votre génératricen'est paséquipée
d'une prise GFCI,desensembles de cordons d'alimentation GFCI
peuvent êtreachetés dans votremagasin d'accessoiresélectriques ou
magasin de bricolage.
Cesensembles de cordons sont disponibles avec différentes
configurations de priseset d'ampérage (assurez-vous que votre
génératriceestcorrectement mise àla terre).
MISE EN PLACE DE L'APPAREIL
Selon les recommandations stipulées dans leCode nationalde
l'électricité, cet appareil doitfairel'objet d'unraccordement adéquatà
une prise de terreafin de prévenir tout risque d'électrocution. Une
borne de miseàla terre connectéau bâti dugénérateur est prévue à
cet effet. Le branchement d'unfil de cuivrede fort calibre (AWG 12
minimum) et de bonne longueur entrela borne de miseàla terre du
générateur et un filmachine encuivreenfoncédans cettedernière
devraitfournir une bonne miseàla terre.Consulternéanmoins un
électricienagréé afinde vous assurer que le tout estconformeaux
codes locaux.
LUBRIFICATION
NE PAS essayerde fairedémarrer lemoteur avant d’avoir
remplilecarterd’huile,enutilisant laquantitéet le type d’huile
appropriés. Le groupe électrogène estexpédié de l'usine avecle carter
vide.Un moteur qui tourne sans huiledans le carterpeut se trouver
détruit.
Remplirlemoteur d'huile selonlesdirectivesénoncées dans le
manuel de l’opérateur.Dans lecas des appareils dotés d'une jauge
d'huile,remplir auniveauadéquat.Les appareilsqui ensont
dépourvus doivent fairel'objet d'un remplissage jusqu'à l'ouverture
supérieuredugoulot.
LE DETECTEUR DE BAS NIVEAU D'HUILE
Le système est équipé d'undétecteur de basniveaud'huile.
Quandl’huiledescendau-dessous duniveaulimite, le détecteur
activeraun appareilqui avertit ouarrête lemoteur.
Si legroupe électrogène s’arrêtemais qu’il ya suffisamment
d’huile,vérifier s'ilse trouve sur un planincliné,entraînant
l’accumulationd’huile à une extrémitéde l’appareil. Si c’estlecas,
remettrel'appareil de niveau. Si elle ne démarre encore pas, ilest
possibleque leniveaud’huile ne soitpas assez élevé pour couper le
dispositifd’arrêt.Vérifierlevoyant indicateur de niveau d’huile tout
entirant sur le lanceur. Si le voyant clignote, ajouterde l’huile.
Veilleràce que le cartersoitcomplètement rempli d’huile.
CARBURANT
Remplirle réservoird’essenceautomobilesans plombfraîche et
librede touteimpureté.Del’essence ordinaire peut être utilisée,à
conditionqu’elle ait unindice d’octane élevé (85octane minimum).
Ilestrecommandé d'utiliseren tout temps le stabilisateur de
carburant, ce qui permettrade réduirela formationde dépôts de
gomme dans lecarburant lors de son entreposage. On peut ajouterle
stabilisateur à l'essence enle versant soit dans leréservoir de
carburant, soitdans un récipient d'entreposage.
POSITIONNEMENT
•Placerla génératricesur une surface plane etsolide afin d'éviter
qu'elle coule.
•Garder l'essence,l'huileouautresexplosifs à une distance
sécuritaire de la génératrice.
•Choisir un endroitbien ventilé et protégé des intempéries.

Enaltitude,le mélangeair-carburantstandard du
carburateur seratrop riche.Le rendement diminueraet la
consommation d’essence augmentera.Un mélangetrèsriche
pourra également encrasser la bougied’allumageet rendre le
démarrage plus difficile. Uneutilisationprolongéeàdes
altitudesdifférentes de cellespour lesquelles cemoteur a été
certifiépeutentraîner uneaugmentation desémissions
polluantes.
Il estpossibled’améliorerle rendement en altitudeen
modifiantde façon précisele carburateur.Sile moteurest
toujours en fonctionnementàunealtitudedeplus de 1 829
mètres(6000pi), confier lamodification du carburateur àun
centre de réparation agréé.
Même suite à unemodification du carburateur, la
puissancedumoteur seraplus réduite. Environ3,5 % de
moins pour chaquetranchede300 mètres(1 000 pi)d’altitude
supplémentaire.L’effet del’altitudesur lapuissance du
générateur sera encore plus importantsansmodification au
carburateur.Une réduction dela puissancedu moteur entraîne
uneréduction de lapuissance à lasortie.

PRÉPARATIFSAU DÉMARRAGE
Avant de mettrel'appareil en marche,vérifier qu’ilne manque

L’essence est un produittrès dangereux. Unincendie
résultant du contact de l'essenceavecdes surfaceschaudes

1. Ne pas mettre de l’essence dans le réservoir quandle

2. Ne pas renverser d’essence lorsduremplissage du
réservoir.

Ne pas faire fonctionnerce groupe électrogène sans lesécrans
de chaleur montés en usine enplace. Le non-respect de cette
consigne peut entraînerlasurchauffe du réservoir de
carburant et des blessures àla suitede l’incendie ainsi
provoqué.
ATTENTION :Laisserle groupe électrogène fonctionnercinq
minutessans aucun appareil branché dessus au moment du
démarrage initial pour permettre au moteur et augroupe élec-
trogène de se stabiliser.

surchauffe du moteuret provoquerdegraves
dommages à celui-ci.Pouruneutilisation à basses
altitudes,demanderau centre de réparation agréé de

BRANCHEMENT DES APPAREILS
Cetappareilaétévérifiéet réglé pour fonctionneràpleine
capacité.Débrancher tout appareilqui yest reliéavant de le mettre
enmarche. Attendrequ'il tourne avant de commenceràbrancher des
appareils dessus.La tension est réglée par la vitessedumoteur, qui a
été ajustéeàl’usine pour assurerla puissance voulue.Le rajustement
annulerala garantie.
ARRETDEL’APPAREIL
1.Retirez toute lacharge électrique.
2.Laissez lemoteur tournerpendant deux minutes sans charge.
3.Placezl’interrupteur dumoteur enposition “OFF”.
4.Ne quittez pas legénérateur jusqu’à cequ’ilsoit complètement
arrêté.
5.Fermez lavanne de fermeture du carburant (s’il yen a une)sile
moteur doit être rangé outransporté.
6.Si l’on utilise,un couvercle,ne l’installez pasjusqu’à ce que
l’appareilsoit refroidi.
7.Si lagénératrice ne doit pas êtreutilisée pendant une durée
prolongée, reportez-vous àla sectionENTRETIEN ET
ENTREPOSAGE de ce manuel.
•Fournir une aérationsuffisante pour éliminerles gaz
d’échappement toxiqueset assurer le refroidissement
dumoteur.
•Ne pas faire démarrerou fonctionnerl'appareil dans
unlieu fermé,même si les porteset les fenêtressont
grandes ouvertes.
•Les moteurs libèrent du monoxyde de carbone, un gaz
invisible, inodore et toxique.
•L'inhalation de monoxyde de carbone peut provoquer
des nausées, des évanouissements ou même lamort.
Ne pas dépasser la puissancenominale du générateur
lorsqu’une ou plusiersprisessont utilisées.De plus, ne pas
dépasserl’ampérage nominal d’une prise, quelle qu’elle soit.
Nepas brancher unappareilpuissant sur le générateur
pendant la période de rodage (les deux àtrois premières
heures de fonctionnement).
