Power connection
• Use only the power sour e marked on the
produ t.
• Do not overload power outlets and
extension ords. This an result in the risk
of fire or ele tri sho k.
• Completely insert the AC adaptor/power
plug into the power outlet. Failure to do so
may ause ele tri sho k and/or ex essive
heat resulting in a fire.
• Regularly remove any dust, et . from the
AC adaptor/power plug by pulling it from
the power outlet, then wiping with a dry

Installation

Operating safeguards
• Unplug the produ t from power outlets
before leaning. Do not use liquid or
aerosol leaners.
• Do not disassemble the produ t.
• Do not spill liquids (detergents, leansers,
et .) onto the telephone line ord plug, or
allow it to be ome wet at all. This may
ause a fire. If the telephone line ord plug
be omes wet, immediately pull it from the
telephone wall ja k, and do not use.

Battery
• We re ommend using the batteries noted
on page 3. USE ONLY re hargeable
Ni-MH batteries AAA (R03) size.
• Do not mix old and new batteries.
• Do not open or mutilate the batteries.
Released ele trolyte from the batteries is
orrosive and may ause burns or injury to
the eyes or skin. The ele trolyte is toxi and
may be harmful if swallowed.
• Exer ise are when handling the batteries.
Do not allow ondu tive materials su h as
rings, bra elets, or keys to tou h the
batteries, otherwise a short ir uit may
ause the batteries and/or the ondu tive
material to overheat and ause burns.
• Charge the batteries provided with or
identified for use with this produ t only, in

limitations spe ified in this manual.
• Only use a ompatible base unit (or
harger) to harge the batteries. Do not
tamper with the base unit (or harger).

Base unit location/avoiding noise
The base unit and other ompatible Panasoni
units use radio waves to ommuni ate with
ea h other.
• For maximum overage and noise-free
ommuni ations, pla e your base unit:
- at a onvenient, high, and entral
lo ation with no obstru tions between
the handset and base unit in an indoor
environment.
- away from ele troni applian es su h as
TVs, radios, personal omputers,
wireless devi es, or other phones.
- fa ing away from radio frequen y
transmitters, su h as external antennas
of mobile phone ell stations. (Avoid
putting the base unit on a bay window or
near a window.)
• Coverage and voi e quality depends on the
lo al environmental onditions.
• If the re eption for a base unit lo ation is
not satisfa tory, move the base unit to
another lo ation for better re eption.
Environment
• Keep the produ t away from ele tri al noise
generating devi es, su h as fluores ent
lamps and motors.
• The produ t should be kept free from
ex essive smoke, dust, high temperature,
and vibration.
• The produ t should not be exposed to
dire t sunlight.

Note for connections
• The AC adaptor must remain onne ted at
all times. (It is normal for the adaptor to feel
warm during use.)
• The AC adaptor should be onne ted to a
verti ally oriented or floor-mounted AC
outlet. Do not onne t the AC adaptor to a
horizontally oriented AC outlet that fa es
the floor, su h as an AC outlet installed on
a eiling or under a table, as the weight of
the adaptor may ause it to be ome

Power failure
• The unit annot be used to make or re eive
alls during a power failure. We

telephone that does not use an AC adaptor
to your telephone line.

• It is normal for the handset to feel warm
during harging.
• Clean the harge onta ts of the handset,

1 Lift the handset and then dial the phone
number.

Adjusting the receiver volume
Press [a] or [▼] repeatedly while talking.
Note:
• If the re eiver volume is set to level 5
(max.), it will be hanged to level 4 in the

The last 10 phone numbers dialled are stored

Pause (for PBX/long distance service
users)
A pause is sometimes required when making
alls using a PBX or long distan e servi e.
When storing a alling ard a ess number
and/or PIN in the phonebook, a pause is also
needed (page 20).

number “0” when making outside alls with a
PBX:

Answering calls

lifting the handset (page 22).

you are already talking on the phone. If you

If you subs ribe to both Caller ID and Call
Waiting with Caller ID servi es, the 2nd
aller’s information is displayed on the unit
that is in use after you hear the all waiting
tone.

Nuisance call block
You an press the [C /^J ] key in the following
situations to dis onne t the urrent all and
add a phone number to the all blo k list:
- when an in oming all is being re eived
- when talking on an outside all
On e a phone number has been added to the
all blo k list, the unit will blo k alls from that
phone number in the future.

• The all blo k number is stored in the
all blo k list, “C a ll B lo ked” is
displayed, and then the all is
dis onne ted.
Note:
• If the all has no phone number, the all is
blo ked but it is not stored in the all blo k
list.
• The all blo k feature is not available for
inter om alls or alls re eived by all
waiting.
• Blo ked alls are logged in the aller list.
Storing unwanted callers
The unit an blo k alls by storing the desired
items in the all blo k list beforehand (Caller
ID subs ribers only).
- “S in g le No.” : The unit blo ks alls from
spe ifi phone numbers stored in the all
blo k list.
- “Range o f No. ” : The unit blo ks alls
that begin with a number stored in the all
blo k list, su h as a toll-free phone number
prefix or ertain area odes.
- “W ithh e ld ” : The unit blo ks alls that
have no phone number.
However, this option may not be available in
the following situations:
- If the aller dials from an area whi h does
not provide a Caller ID servi e.
- International alls.
Single phone numbers and ranges of numbers
an be stored in the all blo k list up to 50
items in total.
Blo king unwanted allers:
When a all is re eived, the unit does not ring
while the aller is being identified.
If the aller’s phone number mat hes an entry
in the all blo k list, the unit emits no sound to
the aller, and dis onne ts the all.
