SAFE WORK PROCEDURE
PRE-JOB STEPS:
oCheck equipment for any obvious defects or damage. Do not use a damaged machine and notify your
supervisor.
oComplete the pre-run inspection prior to operating the equipment:
oDo not pull the machine by the plug or cord.
oDo not handle plugs with wet hands.
oNever activate the power when the handle is in the upright position.
oDo not release handle grips until the pad comes to a complete stop.
oWear non-slip, steel toe safety boots.
oEnsure the floor to be washed has been swept. Sweeping the floor properly will help prevent streaking
as well as prolong the life of the auto-scrubber. Place out caution signs and barricades required in
work area(s)
oGet help to move large or heavy objects or furniture. Remember to try to keep your back straight and
use your weight to help slide objects rather than using only your arms. If lifting, bend and push
through your legs. Communicate the timing for the lift if lifting with another worker
PROCEDURE:
1. Remove loose objects from the floor area where you are working to prevent injury and damage.
2. Place “wet floor” signs as needed and restrict access to others to prevent injury.
3. Install the appropriate pad driver. Always make sure your pad driver is properly secured to the

gearbox under the machine. Make sure when using a pad driver with a center-lock, that the center-
lock is recessed below the pad surface. This must be checked before operation. Failing to do so, may
result in damage to the center-lock and/or to the floor surface.
•Tip over the machine
•Set the drive block/pad onto the clutch plate. Turn until it is locked on.
•Tip the machine back up.
1. Plug the machine into a wall outlet.
2. Adjust the handle to a comfortable operating height. Unlock the handle. Lower the handle to hip
height. Once you have it in a comfortable location, lock the handle back into place.
3. Turn the machine on. Do not operate the machine in the same spot for a long period of time as it
may result in floor damage.
4. Move the machine side to side. Do this by lowering the handle to move the machine to the left.
Raising the handle moves the machine to the right.
HAZARD: If you feel like you are losing control of the machine, immediately release the handle grip
and step away from the machine as quickly as possible. The safety switch in the handle grip will
automatically reset and the machine will come to a stop. Failing to let go of the handle bar may cause
personal injury and damage to property.
5. To move the machine forward and backward: to move the machine forward, lean in with your right
hip on the handle and move the machine forward. To move backwards, step back with your left foot
and the machine will push you back.
6. To maneuver the machine over thresholds and floor grates, stop the machine and tilt it back on the
transport wheels, and move it to the desired position. Never attempt to operate the machine over a
threshold or grate as this may result in injury, damage to the machine and to property.
7. When the machine is not in use, remove all pad drivers and pads to ensure that these items do not
suffer premature wear.
8. Use only recommended pads/brushes and commercially available floor cleaners and waxes intended
for use with this machine.
