TXP™QUICK REFERENCE GUIDE
Standard Circuit
Setup and Initial Settings
• Frequency control set with arrow straight up (rate of 500 +/- 25).
• Attach Phasitron® to patient with a hospital approved HMEF (See pictures on page 1).
• Start with Amplitude control turned all the way to the right. Turn Amplitude control slowly,
counterclockwise, until patient’s chest is observed to be moving (wiggle).
Ensure that the chest is moving, just below the ribs.
• Observe patient SpO
2
and CO
2
and draw an ABG 30 minutes later.
• Record Mean Airway Pressure (MAP), high-frequency rate, and amplitude along with SpO
2
& CO
2
.
Adjustment Options
To Increase patient’s pO
2
and decrease CO
2
• Increase Amplitude in steps of 2-4 cmH
2
O.
To Increase patient’s O
2
if CO
2
is OK
• If device is plugged into an O
2
outlet, the delivered FiO
2
will be 60%.
• If one needs more than 60% FiO
2
, Oxygen may be added between the Phasitron®
and the patient to achieve close to 100% (see item #8 on page 1).
• Increase Frequency by 100 (repeat to a maximum of 700) - this may increase MAP, which may eect pO
2
.
To Decrease patient’s CO
2
if O
2
is OK
• Increase Amplitude in steps of 2-4 cmH
2
O (while keeping MAP within desired range).
• Decrease Frequency by 100 pulses in a stepwise fashion to a low of 300.
To Increase patient’s CO
2
if O
2
is OK
• Increase Frequency by 100 pulses to a maximum of 700.
• Decrease Amplitude in steps of 2-4 cmH
2
O - will decrease MAP, which may aect patient O
2
.
If patient needs MAP for oxygenation, but pCO
2
is still low, add 6" lengths of corrugated
tubing to create mechanical deadspace.

If MAP is decreasing, one can adjust PEEP valve to higher PEEP setting for similar MAP.
