Explanation of Attention Words and Symbols used in this guide
This is the safety alert symbol. It is used to alert you to potential personal
injury hazards. Obey all safety messages that follow this symbol to avoid
possible injury or death.
WARNING indicates a hazardous situation which, if not avoided, could
result in death or serious injury.
CAUTION, used with the safety alert symbol, indicates a hazardous situation
which, if not avoided, could result in minor or moderate injury.
NOTICE is used to address safe use practices not related to personal injury.
• Before using Charging Station or charging the battery, carefully read
all instructions and cautionary markings in this operating guide, on the
Charging Station, battery and product using battery to reduce risk of
injury or damage and misuse of products.
• Do not use Charging Station, battery or Power Adaptor outdoors,
expose to wet or damp conditions or allow to get wet with water or any
other type of liquid.
• Keep battery away from untrained individuals and children.
• Only use designated Charging Station to charge battery. Do not
attempt to charge the battery by any other means.
• Do not charge battery if cracked or damaged.
• Do not disassemble battery or throw into a fire. Recycle
batteryproperly.
• Do not place the battery on or near fires, heaters, other high
temperature locations, or apply heat to the battery. Never charge your
Lithium-ion Battery near heat or flammable objects.
• Do not pierce the battery with any sharp objects, strike the battery
with a hammer, tools, or heavy objects, step on the battery, subject
the battery to strong impacts or shocks or otherwise damage the
outercasing.
• Do not leave the battery in direct sunlight, and avoid storing spare
batteries inside cars in extreme hot weather. Doing so may cause the
battery to generate heat, rupture, or ignite.
• If the product or battery becomes too hot to the touch during charging,
disconnect the Power Adaptor from the Charging Station and unplug
from the power outlet immediately.
• Do not charge battery if the battery has expanded or swollen in size, or
if the battery has been punctured, even if this is the first time the battery
is going to be charged.
• If an exposed Lithium-ion Battery does start a fire, it may burn even
more violently if it comes into contact with water or even the moisture
in the air. DO NOT THROW WATER ON A BURNING LITHIUM-ION
BATTERY! A class C fire extinguisher must be used.
• Do not disassemble or modify the battery. The battery contains safety
and protection devices which, if damaged, may cause the battery to
generate heat, rupture or ignite. Any modification may damage the
battery or cells and will invalidate any warranty claim.
• If you happen to get any electrolyte from the battery cells on your skin,
wash thoroughly with soap and water. If in your eyes, do not rub. Rinse
thoroughly with water and seek medical assistance.
• Do not continue charging the battery if it does not recharge within the
specified charging time. Doing so may cause the battery to become hot,
rupture, or ignite.
• Storage: For long term storage, the battery should be stored at room
temperature (around 20° C), charged at about 30% to 50% of its
capacity. Spare batteries should be charged and used at least once per
year to prevent over-discharge.

• Do not use the Charging Station with other lithium batteries or with any
other type of batteries– fire or explosion may occur.
• Never modify or repair the Charging Station supplied.
• Never use a nickel-cadmium charger or any other charger to recharge
the Lithium-ion Battery as this is very dangerous.
• Do not disassemble Charging Station.
• Disconnect Power Adaptor from Charging Station and Power Adaptor
from outlet when not in use or when finished charging battery to reduce
risk of electric shock.
• Only use designated Power Adaptor with Charging Station to
chargebattery.
• Do not operate Charging Station with a damaged plug or use Charging
Station if damaged in any way.
• Do not unplug by pulling on cord. To unplug, grasp the Power Adaptor
plug housing, not the cord.
• Ensure the Power Adaptor is used only on a standard outlet.
• To avoid tripping, always position the power cord out of the path of
foot traffic.
• Inspect the power cord before and periodically during use. Discontinue
use if damage or deterioration occur, such as blistering, cracking,
chewing or deformation. Continued use may result in injury or
propertydamage.
• Do not allow your pet to chew on the power cord.
• If operating the Passport™Intelligent Cat Flap/Dog Door with the
rechargeable Lithium-ion Battery, the battery and battery compartment
cannot be exposed to temperatures below 0° C or above 55° C .
• Do not use Power Adaptor in temperatures below 0° C or
above40°C.

Charging Battery
For safety reasons, the Lithium-ion Battery is shipped not fully charged. The battery will need to be fully
charged before use. To charge battery, connect supplied Power Adaptor to Charging Station and plug
Power Adaptor into a standard household outlet. Insert Lithium-ion Battery into Charging Station with Battery
Contacts facing down (Fig. 1). The Charging Station LED Indicator will remain illuminated with a red light
until the battery is fully charged. After battery is fully charged, unplug Power Adaptor and disconnect from
Charging Station. Remove battery.

Light Colour Light Function Status
N/A Off • Battery charge is complete.
• No mains power to the Charging Station.
Red Blinking • Under normal conditions Charging Station is receiving
mains power from power supply but battery is not inserted
in Charging Station.
• Battery may be inserted upside down with the contacts
facing up.
• Battery is not fully seated in Charging Station for Battery
Contacts to make a good connection.
• Battery temperature is less than 0°C or above 60°C.
• Voltage to Charging Station is too high or low. This can
be caused by a faulty AC Power Adaptor or by use of an
incorrect AC Power Adaptor.
• Battery failure.
• Charging Station failure.
Red On • Battery is charging.
Battery Installation/Removal
The Passport™Rechargeable Battery works with all Passport™Intelligent Cat Flaps/Dog Doors. It can
be used for full operation of the cat flap/dog door or as a battery back-up option in case of a mains
power loss.
To Install:
1. Open battery
compartment cover.
With Battery Contacts
pointed up and
arrow on battery

bottom of battery into

2. Using the Battery
Grips, push battery
down to compress
spring inside

compartment and
insert top of battery
(Fig. 2B).
3. To finish installing
battery, release Battery Grips until arrow on battery and arrow inside battery compartment are aligned.
Close battery cover (Fig. 2C).
To Remove:
Open battery compartment door. Use Battery Grips and push down battery to compress spring in
bottom of battery compartment. While pushing down, pull out top of battery from compartment then
pull out bottom of battery to completely remove.
WARNING
For long term storage, the battery should be stored at room temperature (around 20° C), charged
at about 30% to 50% of its capacity. Spare batteries should be charged and used at least once per
year to prevent over-discharge.

Low Battery Mode
When powered by the rechargeable battery, the Cat Flap enters Low Battery
Mode before the battery becomes too low to properly operate the flap. An
alert will appear on the LCD Screen when the Cat Flap enters Low Battery
Mode. In Low Battery Mode, the flap shutdown position can be set to either
Open or Locked. Also an optional audible beep can be set to notify you when
the battery is low. The factory settings for Low Battery Mode are Locked for
the flap shutdown position and Off for the
audible beep.
To Change Low Battery Mode:
1. From Main Menu select Setup >
Door Settings. Use down arrow key
to highlight Low Battery Mode. Press
right arrow key to select.
2. Use down arrow key to highlight which
setting to change. Use right arrow key to change the setting. Press left arrow/back key to return to
Main Menu.
Troubleshooting
The answers to these questions should help you solve any problems you have with the Passport™
Rechargeable Battery. If they do not, please contact our Customer Care Centre or visit our website

TROUBLE SHOOTING
Problem Solution
Passport™Rechargeable Battery
is installed in Charging Station
but red light is still blinking.
• Check to make sure Passport™Rechargeable Battery is not
inserted into Charging Station upside down. Battery end with the
contacts should be inserted into Charging Station.
• Make sure battery is fully seated and making good contact with
Charging Station by pressing battery firmly and slightly moving
side to side.
• Remove battery from Charging Station. Disconnect Power
Adaptor from Charging Station, wait 5 seconds then reconnect.
Reinsert battery into Charging Station.
• Make sure battery is not too cold (below 0°C) or too hot (above
60°C). If battery is too cold or too hot, leave the battery at
normal room temperature for an hour then try again.
• Ensure supplied Power Adaptor is being used.
• Try another Power Adaptor if one is available (Passport™
Intelligent Cat Flaps/Dog Doors use same Power Adaptor as
battery Charging Station).
• Try another battery in Charging Station if one is available.
Charging Station is plugged in
and battery is NOT inserted but
red light is not illuminated.
• Make sure Power Adaptor LED light is illuminated to ensure
Adaptor is receiving mains power.
• Make sure Power Adaptor connector is fully inserted in
connection on Charging Station.
• Plug Power Adaptor into another outlet to ensure outlet is
working properly.
• Try another Power Adaptor if one is available (Passport™
Intelligent Cat Flaps/Dog Doors use same Power Adaptor as
battery Charging Station).

1. Terms of Use
Use of this Product is subject to your acceptance without modification of the terms, conditions
and notices contained herein. Use of this Product implies acceptance of all such terms,
conditions and notices. If you do not wish to accept these terms, conditions and notices, please
return the Product, unused, in its original packaging and at your own cost and risk to the
relevant customer care centre together with proof of purchase for a full refund.
2. Proper Use
This Product is designed as a system for programmable access. The specific temperament
or size/weight of your pet may not be suitable for this Product. Radio Systems Corporation
recommends that this Product is not used if your pet is aggressive and accepts no liability
for determining suitability in individual cases. If you are unsure whether this Product is
appropriate for your pet, please consult your veterinarian or certified trainer prior to use.
Proper use includes, without limitation, reviewing the entire Operating Guide and any specific
Cautionstatements.
3. No Unlawful or Prohibited Use
This Product is designed for use with pets only. This pet training device is not intended to harm,
injure or provoke. Using this Product in a way that is not intended could result in violation of
Federal, State or local laws.
4. Limitation of Liability
In no event shall Radio Systems Corporation or any of its associated companies be liable for
(i) any indirect, punitive, incidental, special or consequential damage and/or (ii) any loss or
damages whatsoever arising out of or connected with the misuse of this Product. The Purchaser
assumes all risks and liability from the use of this Product to the fullest extent permissible by law.
For the avoidance of doubt, nothing in this clause 4 shall limit Radio Systems Corporation’s
liability for human death or personal injury or fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation.
5. Modification of Terms and Conditions
Radio Systems Corporation reserves the right to change the terms, conditions and notices
governing this Product from time to time. If such changes have been notified to you prior to your
use of this Product, they shall be binding on you as if incorporated herein.
Important Recycling Advice
Please respect the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment regulations in your country. This equipment must
be recycled. If you no longer require this equipment, do not place it in the normal municipal waste system.
Please return it to where it was purchased in order that it can be placed in our recycling system. If this is not
possible, please contact the Customer Care Centre for further information. For a listing of Customer Care

Battery Disposal
Separate collection of used batteries is required in many regions; check the regulations in your area
before discarding used batteries. At the end of the product life, please contact our Customer Care
Centre to receive instructions on proper disposal of the unit. Please do not dispose of the unit in

Three Year Non-Transferrable Limited Warranty
This Product has the benefit of a limited manufacturer’s warranty. Complete details of the warranty applicable

Australia/New Zealand – In compliance with the Australian Consumer Law, Warranties Against
Defects, effective January 1, 2012, warranty details of this Product are as follows:
Three Year Non-Transferrable Limited Warranty
What is covered: Radio Systems Australia Pty Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “Radio Systems”) warrants to
the original retail purchaser, and not any other purchaser or subsequent owner, that its Product, when subject
to normal and proper residential use, will be free from defects in material or workmanship for a period of
three (3) years from the purchase date. An “original retail consumer purchaser” is a person or entity who
originally purchases the Product, or a gift recipient of a new Product that is unopened and in its original
packaging. When serviced by Radio Systems Customer Service, Radio Systems covers labour and parts for
the first three years of ownership; after the first three years, a service or upgrade charge will apply relative to
replacement of the Product with new or refurbished items at Radio Systems’ sole discretion.
The limited warranty is non-transferrable and shall automatically terminate if the original retail consumer
purchaser resells the Radio Systems Product or transfers the property on which the Radio Systems Product
is installed. This Limited Warranty excludes accidental damage due to dog chews; lightning damage; or
neglect, alteration, and misuse. Consumers who purchase products outside of Australia, New Zealand, or
from an unauthorised dealer will need to return the Product to the original place of purchase for any war-
ranty issues.
Please note that Radio Systems does not provide refunds, replacements, or upgrades for change of mind, or
for any other reason outside of these Warranty terms.

Any claim made under this Warranty should be made directly to Radio Systems Australia

To file a claim, a proof of purchase must be provided. Without a proof of purchase, Radio Systems will not
repair or replace faulty components. Radio Systems requests the Consumer to contact the Radio Systems Cus-
tomer Care Centre to obtain a Warranty Return number, prior to sending the Product. Failure to do so may
delay in the repair or replacement of the Product.
If the Product is deemed to be faulty within 30 days from date of original purchase, Radio Systems will
organise for a replacement to be sent in advance of returning the faulty Product. A Post Bag will be included
with the replacement Product for the return of the faulty Product. The Product must be returned within 7 days
of receiving the replacement. If the Product is deemed to be faulty after 30 days from the date of original
purchase, the consumer will be required to return the Product to Radio Systems at the consumer’s own
expense. Radio Systems will test and replace the faulty unit or its components and return to the consumer free
of charge, provided the Product is within its said warranty period. This warranty is in addition to other rights
and remedies available to you under the law. Radio Systems goods come with guarantees that cannot be
excluded under the Australia Consumer Law. You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure
and for compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. You are also entitled to have
the goods repaired or replaced if the goods fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount
to a major failure.

Charger la batterie
Pour des raisons de sécurité, la batterie lithium-ion est expédiée partiellement chargée. Vous devrez charger
complètement la batterie avant son utilisation. Pour charger une batterie, branchez l'adaptateur fourni à la
station de chargement et branchez l'adaptateur à une prise secteur standard. Insérez la batterie lithium-ion
dans la station de chargement avec les contacts de la batterie vers le bas (Fig. 1). L'indicateur à LED de la
station de chargement reste allumé en rouge tant que la batterie n'est pas complètement chargée. Une fois
que la batterie est entièrement chargée, débranchez l'adaptateur du secteur et de la station de chargement.

Installation/retrait de la batterie
La batterie rechargeable Passport™fonctionne avec toutes les chatières/portes intelligentes
Passport™. Vous pouvez l'utiliser pour alimenter habituellement la chatière/porte ou elle peut servir
d’alimentation de secours en cas de panne de courant.
Installation

Ouvrez la porte du compartiment à pile. À l'aide des ailettes latérales, poussez la batterie vers le
bas pour comprimer la batterie au fond du compartiment. Tout en poussant vers le bas, sortez le
haut de la batterie du compartiment, puis retirez le bas afin de l'enlever complètement.
AVERTISSEMENT
Pour un stockage à long terme, la batterie sera stockée à température ambiante (environ 20°C),
chargée à environ 30% à 50% de sa capacité. Les batteries de rechange seront chargées et
utilisées au moins une fois par an pour éviter tout déchargement excessif.

When powered by the rechargeable battery, the Cat Flap enters Low Battery
Mode before the battery becomes too low to properly operate the flap. An
alert will appear on the LCD Screen when the Cat Flap enters Low Battery
Mode. In Low Battery Mode, the flap shutdown position can be set to either
Open or Locked. Also an optional audible beep can be set to notify you when
the battery is low. The factory settings for Low Battery Mode are Locked for
the flap shutdown position and Off for the
audible beep.

• Doorboor de batterij niet met scherpe objecten, sla niet op de
batterij met een hamer, gereedschap of zware objecten, ga
niet op de batterij staan, stel de batterij niet bloot aan harde
klappen of schokken en beschadig de buitenste behuizing op
geen andere manier.
• Stel de batterij niet bloot aan direct zonlicht, en bewaar
reservebatterijen in extreem warm weer niet in een auto. Hierdoor
kan de batterij warmte genereren, scheuren of ontsteken.
• Als het product of de batterij tijdens het opladen te warm
wordt om aan te raken, moet u de stroomadapter onmiddellijk
loskoppelen van het oplaadstation en het stroomnet.
• Laad de batterij niet op als de batterij in omvang uitgezet of
gezwollen is, of als de batterij is doorboord, zelfs als u de
batterij voor de eerste keer zou opladen.
• Als een blootgestelde lithiumionbatterij geen brand veroorzaakt,
kan deze nog heviger branden als deze in aanraking komt

scheurt of ontsteekt. Elke aanpassing kan de batterij of cellen
beschadigen en maakt de garantie ongeldig.
• Als er elektrolyten van de batterijcellen op uw huid terechtkomen,
moet u uw huid grondig wassen met zeep en water. Als ze in uw
ogen terechtkomen, mag u niet in uw ogen wrijven. Spoel ze
grondig met water en roep medische hulp in.
• Laat de batterij niet verder opladen als deze niet is opgeladen
binnen de opgegeven oplaadtijd. Hierdoor kan de batterij warm
worden, scheuren of ontsteken.
• Opslag: voor opslag op lange termijn moet de batterij worden
bewaard bij kamertemperatuur (rond 20 °C), opgeladen voor
30% tot 50% van de capaciteit. Reservebatterijen moeten ten
minste eenmaal per jaar worden opgeladen en gebruikt om
volledige ontlading te voorkomen.

• Gebruik het oplaadstation niet met andere lithiumbatterijen of een

• Pas het meegeleverde oplaadstation niet aan en repareer het niet.
• Gebruik nooit een nikkelcadmiumoplader of een andere oplader
om de lithiumionbatterij op te laden, want dit is zeer gevaarlijk.
• Haal het oplaadstation niet uit elkaar.
• Koppel de stroomadapter los van het oplaadstation en het
stroomnet wanneer deze niet wordt gebruikt of wanneer de
batterij is opgeladen, om het risico op elektrische schokken
tebeperken.
• Gebruik alleen de toegewezen stroomadapter om de batterij
op te laden.
• Gebruik het oplaadstation niet met een beschadigde stekker of
als het oplaadstation op een andere manier is beschadigd.
• Verwijder de stekker niet door aan de kabel te trekken. Als u de
stekker uit het stopcontact wilt halen, houdt u de stekkerbehuizing
van de stroomadapter vast, niet de kabel.
• Zorg dat de stroomadapter alleen wordt gebruikt in een
standaardstopcontact.
• Om struikelen te vermijden, moet u zorgen dat de stroomkabel
niet in de loop ligt.

Batterij opladen
Uit veiligheidsoverwegingen is de lithiumionbatterij bij de levering niet volledig opgeladen. U moet de
batterij volledig opladen voordat u deze gebruikt. Om de batterij op te laden, sluit u de meegeleverde
stroomadapter aan op het oplaadstation en sluit u de stroomadapter aan op een standaard stopcontact.
Breng de lithiumionbatterij in het oplaadstation in met de batterijcontacten naar beneden gericht (afb. 1).
Het LED-lampje van het oplaadstation blijft rood branden tot de batterij volledig is opgeladen. Als de batterij
volledig is opgeladen, ontkoppelt u de stroomadapter van het stroomnet en het oplaadstation. Verwijder
debatterij.

Installatie/verwijdering van batterij
De Passport™Oplaadbare Batterij werkt met alle Passport™Intelligente kattenluiken/hondenluiken.
De oplaadbare Passport™-batterij kan worden gebruikt voor het huisdierluik voor een goede
werking of als back-upoptie in geval van stroomuitval.
Installeren:
1. Open het deksel
van het batterijvak.
Houd de
batterijcontactpunten
naar boven gericht
en de pijl op de
batterij naar beneden
gericht en breng
de onderkant van
de batterij in het
batterijvak (afb. 2A).
2. Duw de batterij met
de handgrepen naar
beneden om de veer
op de bodem van het
batterijvak samen te
drukken en breng de
bovenkant van de
batterij in (afb. 2B).
3. Laat de handgrepen van de batterij los tot de pijl op de batterij en de pijl in het batterijvak zijn uitgelijnd.
Sluit het deksel van het batterijvak (afb. 2C).
Verwijderen:
Open het deksel van het batterijvak. Duw de batterij met de handgrepen naar beneden om de veer
op de bodem van het batterijvak samen te drukken. Terwijl u de batterij naar beneden duwt, trekt
u de bovenkant en vervolgens de onderkant van de batterij uit het vak zodat de batterij volledig
isverwijderd.
WAARSCHUWING
Voor opslag op lange termijn moet de batterij worden bewaard bij kamertemperatuur (rond 20 °C),
opgeladen voor 30% tot 50% van de capaciteit. Reservebatterijen moeten ten minste eenmaal per
jaar worden opgeladen en gebruikt om volledige ontlading te voorkomen.

Lege batterij modus
Wanneer het kattenluik wordt gevoed met behulp van een oplaadbare bat-
terij, dan gaat het kattenluik naar de Lege batterij modus voordat de batterij
te leeg raakt om de klep goed te kunnen bedienen. Wanneer het kattenluik
naar de modus Batterij bijna leeg gaat, verschijnt op het lcd-scherm een
waarschuwing. In de Lege batterij modus kan de sluitpositie van de klep
worden ingesteld op open of vergrendeld. Bovendien kan een optioneel
pieptoon worden ingesteld waarmee u wordt
gewaarschuwd wanneer de batterij bijna
leeg is. De fabrieksinstellingen voor de modus
Batterij bijna leeg zijn Vergrendeld voor de
sluitpositie van het luik en Uit voor de pieptoon.
Om de Lege batterij modus
tewijzigen:
1. Selecteer in het Hoofdmenu
Instellingen > Deurinstellingen. Gebruik de toets Pijl-omlaag om Modus Batterij bijna leeg te
markeren. Druk op de toets Pijl-rechts om te selecteren.
2. Gebruik de toets Pijl-omlaag om de instelling te markeren die moet worden gewijzigd. Gebruik de
toets Pijl-rechts om de instelling te wijzigen. Druk op de toets Pijl-links/terug om terug te gaan naar het
Hoofdmenu.

• Controleer of de Passport™Oplaadbare Batterij niet omgekeerd
in het oplaadstation is ingebracht. De kant van de batterij met de
contactpunten moet in het oplaadstation zijn ingebracht.
• Zorg dat de batterij volledig in het vak zit en goed contact
maakt met het oplaadstation door stevig op de batterij te duwen
en de batterij een beetje heen en weer te bewegen.
• Verwijder de batterij uit het oplaadstation. Koppel de
stroomadapter los van het oplaadstation, wacht vijf seconden
en koppel deze opnieuw. Breng de batterij opnieuw in het
oplaadstation in.
• Zorg dat de batterij niet te koud (lager dan 0°C) of te warm
(hoger dan 60°C) is. Als de batterij te koud of te warm is, laat
u de batterij gedurende een uur in normale kamertemperatuur
liggen en probeert u het opnieuw.
• Zorg dat u de meegeleverde stroomadapter gebruikt.
• Probeer een andere stroomadapter als er één beschikbaar is
(Passport™Intelligent kattenluiken/hondenluiken gebruiken
dezelfde stroomadapter voor het oplaadstation).
• Probeer een andere batterij in het oplaadstation als er één
beschikbaar is.
Het oplaadstation is aang-
esloten en de batterij is NIET
ingebracht maar het rode lampje
brandtniet.
• Controleer of het LED-lampje van de stroomadapter brandt om
zeker te zijn dat de adapter netstroom ontvangt.
• Controleer of de connector van de stroomadapter volledig in de
aansluiting op het oplaadstation is ingebracht.
• Sluit de stroomadapter aan op een ander stopcontact om zeker
te zijn dat het stopcontact goed werkt.
• Probeer een andere stroomadapter als er één beschikbaar is
(Passport™Intelligent kattenluiken/hondenluiken gebruiken
dezelfde stroomadapter voor het oplaadstation).
