Operation
Insert o-ring 238 and screw connection 261 via the end of the tube and screw into the
cap (size 19).
Tighten the crown nut on screw connection 261 (size 14)
– whilst aligning the tube so that it is positioned close to the capbase without making
contact with the side panel.
Push screw connection 262 onto the tube from above, tighten (size 14) and counter-
lock using a second wrench (size 14).
Seal the connection thread with sealing plug 264 and sealing ring 263.
Fit the cap, checking that the sealing surfaces and o-rings are clean and undamaged.
Dismantling Note: It is not possible to remove the flushing gas tube without destroying the tube. If
necessary, it is recommended to lift the tube up slightly and to cut it above the screw con-
nection using a pipe cutter.
3.5 Conducting a leak test
Pumps of C, M and MC
versions Before filling with operating fluid, it is necessary to conduct a helium leak test on the
pump housing:
Helium leak test: < 1 · 10-7 Pa m3/s
3.6 Installing the gas supply
Unscrewsealing bolt 264and counter-secureon screw connection262 (size14); note
the sealing ring 263.
Connect the supply line for the flushing gas (1/8" internal taper thread), note the seal.
4Operation
4.1 Commissioning
For processes requiring a gas supply, a shut-off valve should always be installed on the
pump's vacuum flange. This means it is only possible connect up the pump to the vacu-
um system once the operating temperature has been reached.
Switch pump on and bring to operating temperature.
Open the flushing gas supply and check the flow.
Set flushing gas pressure; max. recommended pressure 200 hPa (relative),
– corresponding to a gas flow of approx. 2000 Nl/h.
Open the shut-off valve on the vacuum flange.
Monitor the flushing process during the entire process.
NOTICE
Non-permissibly high flushing gas pressure endangers the operational safety of
the pump.
A rising flushing gas volume increases the expulsion of operating fluids via the pump
exhaust.
Observe the max. permissible flushing gas pressure.
Adjust the flushing gas volume on-site.
