Spring Indoor Fountain
Safety Instructions:
The indoor fountain is only suitable for use indoors.
Only fill and operate the fountain with distilled water, as this prevents lime scale.
Please note that one should never fill the fountain with anything else but distilled
water (e.g. alcohol or fragrances). Distilled water is not potable and thus, this
fountain should be kept out of both children’s’ and pet’s reach, making it
impossible for them to drink from it.
Never place the fountain on top of valuable furniture, natural wood tables or the
likes, as indoor fountains tend to sputter. Ensure that the fountain is level and
only operated when the water fill quantity is not below the minimum marking.
If the fill quantity is below the minimum marking, please refill with distilled
water. Never leave the fountain unattended for a longer period of time. Plug the
fountain into a circuit of 220 up to 240 V. Make sure that the fountain’s cable
does not become a trip hazard.
Placing into Operation:
Position the metal basin in a level and secure manner. Place the pump into
the middle of the basin. Pump cable: you’ll find a slit cut into the foam rubber
allowing you to lay the cable towards the basin’s side. Place the dome over the
pump and in doing so, center it in the basin. Ensure that the pump’s hose is led
through the outlet opening located in the basin’s recess. Now fill the recess with
stones. These stones are for decorative purposes only.
Fill the fountain with distilled water. For best results, fill the recess by slowly
pouring the water over the stones. This will ensure that the pump instantly has
water. Please note the markings for the fountain’s water level as “max.” and
“min.”, whereby “max.” displays the maximum level of water and “min.” displays
the minimum of water required to operate. The fountain accommodates a total
of 3.5 liters of water. After the fountain is filled with water and the pump is
adequately submersed (see above), insert the plug... The pump quietly begins to
operate and the water begins to slowly flow. Should the water fountain sputter
too high, rearrange the stones accordingly. The water should now flow evenly
over the surface. In the event that the water’s appearance is only leaving trickles,
the surface must be defatted by using a cloth saturated in warm water with a
minor amount of dish liquid and rubbing the surface clean. This procedure should
be repeated on a regular basis if the water isn’t flowing evenly as it should. The
fountain is equipped with an extremely quiet pump. With age, any pump becomes
louder, this resulting from impurities collected on the pump’s blades, e.g. lime
scale. Always use either demineralized or distilled water, which will extend the life
of your pump. Exchange the water in the fountain on a weekly basis and ensure
that the pump does not fall dry, e.g. the water level falls below “min.”Should
the pump fall dry, prime the pump by bringing the water level back to “max.”,
before plugging the pump back in. Philippi replacement pumps (Item Nr.: 123993)
are available in stores carrying Philippi products. Depending on the conditions,
evaporations results in the daily loss of approximately ½ liter of water.
Cleaning and Maintenance:
The indoor fountain can be cleaned by simply wiping the basin, dome and
stones clean with a soft cloth, using a vinegar-based cleaner. To finish up, wipe
with a soft cloth and clear water. Should you experience heavy lime scale in the
basin you can remove this with citric acid, commonly found in supermarkets or
drugstores. It is of the utmost importance, that the citric acid does not make
contact to the pump in any manner. Should you not use the fountain for a longer
period of time, make sure that it does not get dusty, by covering it when not in use.
If the fountain is dusty when re-filling it, the dust reacts as an abrasive, as it settles
in the pump and making it louder.
