• If the DVD drive in this unit is having problems reading discs, please refer to the relevant sections in the Troubleshooting
section of this user manual to perform basic troubleshooting. If this does not work, try a lens cleaning disc.At this point

eriodic maintenance is required to maintain your DVD/VCR Dual Player’s excellent performance.The VCR has an
Automatic Head Cleaner. However, the video heads will require replacement eventually. Only an authorized service
center should perform this service.

• Handle the discs so that fingerprints and dust do not adhere to the surfaces of the discs

esting the Remote Contro
l
• If the remote control is not working properly, you can use a digital camera (including a cellular phone with built-in
camera) to see if it is sending out an infrared signal. Please note that some cell phone cameras with IR filters will not
work. You can verify if your cell phone camera is suitable for this test by using other working remotes in your house
a
nd see if they flash.
How to

?
1. Point the IR transmitter of the remote control towards the lens of the digital camera (or cell phone

camera).
2. Turn on the digital camera and look at the IR transmitter of the remote control through the LCD
d
isplay of the digital camera.
3
. While looking at the LCD, press the buttons on your remote control you want to test.

. If your remote control is working properly, the IR transmitter of the remote control will create a
noticeable flash on the LCD of the digital camera.
b.If it does not flash, replace the batteries in your remote with new batteries and try again. If it still does
not flash, your remote control may be damaged or defective. Please contact customer service for

Preparation on the tuner
• Satellite link accepts only the connection from L1 (rear) with the
External Tuner (Cable/Satellite or Converter Set-top Box). (The
connection from L2 cannot read any signals from the

• The External Tuner (Cable/Satellite or Converter Set-top Box) should
be equipped with some kind of timer function. Using timer function for
the tuner, set it to output audio/video signals when it comes to the time
you want to start recording and to stop an output of audio/video signals
when it comes to the time you want to finish the recording. Refer to
the External Tuner’s manual on how to set the timer.
