Open the battery cover by pressing it down on the latch.

1Insert the installation CD in the CD-ROM to display the automatic
execution as shown below.

4If the user agrees to the privilege contract, click Yes button.
5Select the folder to install the program, and click Next button.
6Please wait while the
program is being installed.
7After installation is completed,
click Finish button.
Note After installation is completed in Windows 98/ME, the PC
must be rebooted so that the program can function properly.

1The VIBE software must be installed if you
are using Windows 98.
2Remove battery pack from
VIBE and connect VIBE to
PC. (Use a USB cable when
needed.)
3This is recognized as a “portable
disk” in My Computer, the use
can use it like a hard drive.
Note
The user can use the portable disk like a normal hard drive.
As shown above, folders can be created to store music thereby
maximizing the VIBE folder function. Data folders can also be created
to store various data other than music thereby improving the initial
booting speed. . FM folder and Voice folder are automatically created
in VIBE and FM and Voice recording files.

Note When formatting in Windows XP, if File System is FAT32
or NTFS , VIBE does not work.

shown below.

1For Windows ME/2000/XP
Close all windows relating to VIBE.
Click “Removing USB Drive”on the lower-left part. The message that
the product is completely removed is displayed. Then disconnect VIBE
from the PC.
2For Windows 98
Close all windows relating to VIBE.
When “USB Connected…” blinks on the LCD, data is being
transmitted to/from VIBE. When “USB Connected…” is not blinking,
VIBE can be disconnected from the PC.
2After setting File system to FAT, press
Start button to format.

Before Using
1For files except music files, make a “Data” folders and store non-music
files there.
2To listen to music in order, insert digits in front of music files.
(Insert “01. 02. 03.”in front of music files to store them in VIBE.).
3When formatting VIBE in Windows XP, it is necessary to change the
File System to FAT. VIBE will not function if formatted in FAT 32 or
NTFS file systems.
To use VIBE more efficiently, please keep the following in mind: MUSIC PLAY MODEMUSIC STOP MODE

Adjusting Volume
Lock Function
Press Play button.
Press Play button for 3 seconds.
Press and hold Menu button until this menu
appears.
Press Volume buttons
Slide faceplate over keys and your VIBE is
automatically locked. Volume controls can
still be accessed when unit is locked.
Highlight desired mode using Left/Right
button, then press Menu key.

Press Play button.
Press Section Repeat button on the folder.
Press Left/Right button while track is playing.
Press and hold Left/Right button while track is
playing. The longer the button is depressed,
the faster the scanning will occur.
Section Repeat Press A/B button ( appears)
Press A/B again ( mark)
To stop repeating between Section A and Section B, press Section
Repeat button again.
Once your VIBE is in Voice mode, press Record button to begin
recording
•Press Voice button again to stop recording.
•The Bit Rate of Voice Recode is fixed to 32kbps.

Playing Recorded Files Press A/B to open the folder.
Select a file and press Play button.
Listening to FM Radio Stations
Seeking Frequency
By pressing Left/Right button briefly, the user can seek the frequency
gradually. When pressing and holding Left/Right button, the frequency is
automatically searched and moves to strongest frequency.
•Mono/Stereo mode is automatically set according to reception state.
Storing Stations Individually
Pressing A/B button briefly changes the location the station will be saved.
Select the station to be stored and press and hold A/B button. Once the

station is stored, your VIBE will automatically change to the P-SET mode.
Up to 16 Stations can be stored.
Using P-SET Mode
By using P-SET mode, the user can seek and listen to stored channels.
Pressing Play button in FM SEEK mode will change the unit into P-SET
mode. Pressing the Play button in P-SET mode will change the unit into
FM SEEK mode.
Seeking Stored Channels
Press Left/Right button to move to Previous/Next channels, then the user
can seek stored channels.
Automatic Selection
By using Automatic Selection function, the user can easily seek and store
16 receivable channels. The headphones need to be connected to the
VIBE when searching for stations.
To Place the unit in P-SET mode.
Press A/B button and your VIBE will automatically seek and store 16
channels.
FM Record
FM Record function enables the user to record received FM channels.
Pressing Record button in FM state.
Press Record button a second time to stop recording
•Receiving volume cannot be adjusted during recording.
•The Bit Rate of FM Record is fixed to 64kbps.
Listening to Recorded Files
Place VIBE in Voice mode and select desired folder.
Press play button to listen.
Playlist Mode
This enables the user to select and listen to tracks to replay in the playlist.
•The digit in a box means the number of total track to replay.
Press Menu button and highlight function to be adjusted using
Left/Right button. Select mode by pressing Menu button again.
To return from Menu screen, press and hold Menu button or select
Return.
VIBE will automatically return to previous mode if the Menu button is
idle for more than 7 seconds.

Note
• When there is no marked folder/file in M-Fold or M-File
modes, VIBE does not replay any track with “No Marked
Files/Folder” message.
• When files/folders are deleted or added in VIBE, all marked contents
are deleted.

Marking File/Folder
To mark file or folder, press Record button on the file/folder as shown
below.
Using SRS, WOW, TruBass and Equalizer Modes
While track is playing, press the REC button to toggle between SRS,
WOW, TruBass and Equalizer Modes.
WOW SRS Setup
Press Menu button and highlight SRSLabs WOW menu using Left/Right
buttons. Select by pressing Menu button.
Highlight mode to adjust by pressing the Menu button. Adjust SRS,
TruBass, and SPK values using the Left/Right buttons. Press and hold
Menu button to return to previous menu.
Adjust 3D sound effect.
Adjust sound effect by supporting bass frequency.
Creates unique sense of sound by supporting SRS and
TruBass functions simultaneously.
Adjust the sound level of each speaker While SRS is
functioning, user cannot operate or set EQ.
SRS can be set only when SRS mode is on in Music mode.
EQ Setup
EQ enables the user to adjust the sound according to his taste. 5 preset
modes and 1 user adjustable mode are available.

Setting User EQ
You can use the User EQ to adjust frequency bandwidth according to your
taste.
User EQ of VIBE is classified into 5 frequency bandwidths. The user can
adjust the frequency bandwidth from +10dB to -10dB.
By using Menu button and Left/Right button, adjust to the desired
frequency. Press Menu button to select frequency and Left/Right button to
adjust bandwidth. Press Menu button again to set adjustment. Use
Left/Right button to toggle between frequencies.
Repeat Mode
Repeat Mode is classified into Repeat One / Repeat All / Random One /
Random All / Normal
Mode Adjustments
All modes can be adjusted to suit your preferences
To adjust any mode, Press menu button. Highlight desired mode using
Left/Right buttons and select by pressing Menu button. Adjust using
Left/Right button and press Menu button to set.
Contrast Mode
Contrast Mode controls the contrast of the LCD.

Random One
Random All

Current song is repeatedly replayed
All songs are repeatedly replayed in order

Backlit
Backlit mode controls the backlight time on the LCD.
Scroll Speed
This mode controls the speed of phrases displayed on the LCD.

Power Savings
This mode powers off automatically when VIBE does not function.
• When the user does not listen to music during the setting time (minutes),
VIBE is automatically powers off.
Sleep Timer
Sleep Timer mode automatically powers off your VIBE after the setting
time.
Delete File
The mode deletes selected files.
The user cannot delete any file while music is being replayed.
Tag-Info
This mode determines if information (singer name, song title) of the
current song is displayed on the LCD. It is applicable only to MP3/WMA
files.
Language
This mode changes the language displayed on the menu.
About
This mode displays model name, the firmware version, and the memory
capacity on the LCD.

Firmware Upgrade

After searching VIBE, display firmware
upgrade program as shown below.
Do not disconnect VIBE to
the PC during firmware
upgrade.
Press Start button to upgrade firmware.
When Firmware Upgrade is completed,
remove VIBE as shown in “Removing VIBE
Safely”.
When a new firmware version is available
on the PNY homepage or VIBE is not
functioning properly, you may want to
upgrade the VIBE firmware. To execute the
Firmware Upgrade. Connect VIBE to the
PC then follow this sequence:
[Start] [Program] [PNY] [VIBE]
[Update]
Note To format during upgrading, press “Format Data Area”. (It is
recommended to format VIBE during upgrading firmware.) If you
desire to keep the files on your VIBE, please copy them to your PC
before proceeding with the formatting function.
Warning
Formatting will delete all files on
your VIBE.
Return
By pressing Return menu or pressing Menu button long, the user can exit
the menu.

Headphones are not connected to VIBE
Current area is the place where FM frequency is weak.
The booting speed is slow.
When there are lots of files in VIBE, the booting speed will slow.
Please refer to “Before Using”of the manual.
