result in personal injury or property damage.
General Safety Rules
• Keep work area clean, cluttered areas and benches invite accidents
• Avoid dangerous environments. Do not use power tools in damp
or wet locations
•Keep tool away from children. Do not let visitors contact tool or
extension cord. All visitors should be kept away from work area.
Personal Safety
•Guard against electric shock. Prevent body contact with grounded
surfaces such as pipes, radiators, ranges or refrigerator enclosures.
Rubber gloves and non-skid footwear are recommended when
working outdoors, where damp or wet ground may be
encountered. Aground fault circuit interrupt protected power line
must be used for these conditions.
•Dress properly, do not wear loose clothing or jewelry that can be
caught in moving parts. Wear protective hair covering to contain
long hair.
•Use safety equipment. Wear safety goggles or glasses with side
shields. Wear hearing protection during extended use of power
tools and dust mask for dusty operations.
•Stay alert. Use common sense and watch what you are doing. Do
not operate the tool if you are tired or under the influence of
alcohol or other drugs.
• Avoid accidental starting. Do not carry a plugged in tool with your
finger on the switch. Be sure switch is OFF when plugging it in.
•Do not over reach. Keep proper footing and balance at all times.
•AC designated tools are for 60 Hz current only. Do not use AC
designated tools with a DC power source. Do not use electric
speed controlled tools with DC power source.

Tool Use and Care
•Do not force the tool, it will do the job better and safer at the rate
for which it was designed.
•Use the right tool, do not force a small tool or attachment to do
the job of a heavy-duty tool. Do not use the tool for a purpose it is
not intended for (eg: using a circular saw to cut tree limbs or
logs.)
•Secure work. Use clamps or a vise to hold work, it is safer than
your hand and frees both hands to operate the tool.
•Do not abuse the cord. Never carry tool by cord or tug on it to
disconnect it from the receptacle. Keep cord away from heat, oil
and sharp edges.
•The use of any accessories not specified in this manual may create
a safety hazard.
• Disconnect tools when not in use and before servicing.
• Store idle tools in a dry place inaccessible to children.
•Do not alter or misuse tool. Unauthorized alterations or
modifications could damage the tool or make it dangerous to use.
•Maintain tools with care. Keep tools sharp and clean for better and
safer performance. Follow instructions for lubricating and
changing accessories. Inspect tool cords periodically and if
damaged have them repaired by an authorized service facility.
Inspect extension cords periodically and replace if damaged. Keep
handles dry, clean and free from grease.
•Check damaged parts before further use. Damaged parts should be
carefully inspected to determine that they will perform their
intended functions. Check for misalignment or binding of moving
parts, breakage or any other conditions that may affect operation.
Adamaged part should be properly repaired or replaced. Do not
use a tool if its switch does not turn it on or off.
•All repairs should be attempted only by an authorized service
technician.

Safety Rules for Grinders
•When using grinding wheel attachments, the guard must always
be attached to the tool and positioned for maximum safety, so the
least amount of wheel is exposed from the side of the tool being
used.
•Before using a grinder or installing a new wheel, inspect the
grinding wheel for chips and cracks. Remove damaged wheels
immediately. When a new wheel is installed, run the grinder
empty for a minute. any flawed wheel should break within that
time.
•Carefully handle both the tool and individual grinding wheels to
avoid chipping or cracking. Inspect grinding wheel before using.
Do not use a grinding wheel that is cracked. If the tool is dropped
during use, stop and install a new wheel. Do not use a wheel that
may be damaged.
•Grinding wheels or any other accessory must have a maximum
rate operating speed higher than the maximum speed rating for the
tool.
•Do not use a grinding wheel that is larger than the maximum
recommended size for your tool, or worn down damaged wheels
from larger grinders.
• Do not use depressed hub grinding wheels for cut-off operations.
•Do not fit this tool with a “Woodcarving” blade, such blades
create frequent recoil and loss of control.
•Proper apparel while using a grinder includes: face shield, or at
least safety goggles, dust mask, leather gloves, and a shop apron
capable of stopping small wheel or work piece fragments.
•Keep cord away from the grinding wheels or any other sanding
accessory.
• Avoid bouncing and snagging the wheel, especially when working
on corners and sharp edges. This can cause a loss of control or
recoil from the tool.
•Clean the tool’s air vents regularly with compressed air. Excessive
accumulation of powdered metal inside the motor housing may
cause electrical failures

•Do not grind or sand near flammable materials, as they could be
ignited with sparks from the wheel.
•When sanding, do not use oversized sanding discs. Larger sanding
pads can cause snagging or tearing of the disc, or recoil of the
tool. Extra paper extending beyond the sanding pad can also cause
serious lacerations.
•When sanding chemically pressure treated lumber, paint that may
be lead based, or any other materials that may contain
carcinogens, use special precautions. Asuitable breathing
respirator must be worn by all personnel entering the work area.
Work area should be sealed by plastic sheeting and persons not
protected should be kept out until work area is thoroughly
cleaned.
Double Insulated Tools
•Double insulation is a design concept used in electric power tools
which eliminates the need for the 3 wire grounded power cord and
grounded power supply system.
Important: Servicing of a tool with double insulation requires care
and knowledge of the system and should be performed
only by a qualified service technician. When servicing,
use ONLYidentical replacement parts.
Extension Cords
•Replace damaged cords immediately. Use of damaged cords can
shock, burn or electrocute.
•If an extension cord is necessary a cord with adequate size
conductors should be used to prevent excessive voltage drop, loss
of power, or overheating on cord length and nameplate amperage
rating of tool. If in doubt, use the next heavier gauge size.

Operating Instructions
Slide On-Off Switch with Lock
•The switch can be locked in the “on” position, a convenience for
long grinding operations.
• To operate the grinder without locking it on, press the switch
button forward to the “on” position. When you release pressure on
the switch, the button will switch to the “off” position
automatically
• To lock the switch on, press the switch button forward and press
the lock button. To unlock the switch, simply press and release the
lock button. The switch is spring loaded and will snap back
automatically.
Warning: Hold the tool with both hands when starting it, as torque
from the motor can cause the tool to twist.
•Start the tool before applying it to work. Lift the tool from the
work before releasing the switch. Do not turn the switch on and
off while the tool is under load; this will greatly decrease the
switch life.
Side Handle
•The side handle used to guide and balance the tool can be
threaded into the front housing on either side of the tool,
depending on personal preference and comfort. Use the side
handle for safe control and ease of operation.
Wheel Guard
•Always attach the wheel guard for grinding operations. Attach it
with the provided fasteners.
Lock Nut and Backing Flange
• Your tool is equipped with a threaded spindle for mounting
accessories. Always use the supplied lock nut (and backing flange)
that has the same thread size as the spindle.

Grinding Operations
Wheel Guard Installation
Warning: The wheel guard must be attached when using disc-
grinding wheels. Always keep wheel guard between you
and your work while grinding.
• To attach the wheel guard, disconnect tool from power source. Be
sure that the wheel guard is in place for grinding. Place the
backing flange and grinding wheel on the spindle. Thread on the
lock nut and tighten nut using the supplied lock nut wrench.
• To secure wheels 1/8" thick or less, the hub on the lock nut should
face outward. To secure wheels thicker than 1/8", the hub on the
lock nut should face inward.
Selecting Grinding Wheels
Warning:Before using a grinding wheel, be certain that its
maximum safe operating speed is equal or greater to that
of the grinder. Do not exceed the recommended wheel
diameter.
Disc Grinding Wheels
•Grinding wheels should be carefully selected in order to use the
grinder most efficiently.Wheels vary in type of abrasive, bond,
hardness, grit size and structure. The correct type of wheel to use
is determined by the job.
Grinding Operations
•Use disc grinding wheels for fast grinding of structural steel,
heavy weld beads, steel casting, stainless steel and other ferrous
metals.

Grinding Tips
•Efficient grinding is achieved by controlling the pressure and
keeping the angle between wheel and workpiece at 10° to 15°. If
the wheel is flat, the tool is difficult to control. If the angle is too
steep, the pressure is concentrated on a small area, which could
burn the work surface.
Caution: Excessive or sudden pressure on the wheel will slow
grinding action, causing the circuit breaker to trip and
putting dangerous stress on the wheel.
•When grinding with a new wheel be certain to grind while pulling
tool backwards until wheel becomes rounded on its edge. New
wheels have sharp corners which tend to bite or cut into the
workpiece when pushing forward.
Maintenance
Warning: Preventative maintenance performed by unauthorized
personnel may result in misplacing of internal wires and
components, which could cause serious hazards. We
recommend that all tool service be performed by a
qualified professional
Tool Lubrication
• Your tool has been properly lubricated and is ready to use. It is
recommended that tools with gears be regressed with a special
gear lubricant every brush change.
Carbon Brushes
•The brushes and commutator in your tool have been engineered
for many hours of dependable service. To maintain peak efficiency
of the motor, we recommend that the brushes are examined every
2 to 6 months. Replace only with identical brushes.

Bearings
•After about 300-400 hours of operation, or at every second brush
change, the bearings should be replaced. Bearings that become
noisy due to heavy load or very abrasive material cutting, should
be replaced immediately to avoid overheating or motor failure.
Cleaning
Warning: To avoid accidents, always disconnect the tool from the
power supply before cleaning or performing any
maintenance. The tool may be cleaned most effectively
with compressed dry air.
• Ventilation openings and switch levers must be clean and free
from foreign matter. Do not attempt to clean them by inserting
pointed objects through openings in the tool.
Caution: Certain cleaning agents and solvents damage plastic parts.
some of these are gasoline, carbon tetrachloride,
chlorinated cleaning solvents, ammonia and household
detergents that contain ammonia
