Intheinterestof safety,ConsumerElectronicsrecommendslisteningat lowervilume levels
while driving.

Beforebeginningthe installation, considerthe following:
a.If you planto expandyour system by addingothercomponentssomrtimeinthe future,
ensure adequatespaceis left,andcoolingrequirementsare met.
b.Should you use highor low inputs?
Your Amplifier habeendesignedto accept either High-Level(speakeroutputsfrom your
radio)or Low-Level(Pre-Ampoutputsfrom your radio)signalsource.
Ifyour radiolsourceis equippedwith Pre-Ampoutputs,it is possible to utilizethem to drive
the Amplifier andconnecting(Amplifier) tothe 2rearspeakers.Then, use the built-in
power of your radioto drivethe
2 frontspeakers.
NOTE:
DISTORTIONLEVEL IS CONSIDERABLY LOWER FROM PRE-AMP(LOW LEVEL) OUTPUTS, THAN SPEAKER
(HIGHLEVEL) OUTPUTS.
C.Are your components matched?The peakpowerratingof your speakers must beequal
or greaterthan the Amplifier's.They also must be2-8 Ohms limpedance(Thisinformation
os normallyprintedon the speaker magnet).
d.Consider boththe lengthof your leads,and routingwhen determiningthe mounting
location.Pre-AmpinputJacks requir a lengthof highquality shieldedmaleto maleRCA
patchcord.

The mountingpositionof your Amplifierwill havea great effect onits ability to dissipatethe
heatgeneratedduringnormaloperation.Ithas ample heatsink for heatdissipation,and
also designedwith a thermalshut-down(forheatprotection)circuit,makingair to be
directedover the coolingfins will improveheatdissipationdramatically.DO NOT enclose
theamwlifier in a small box of cover itso that air cannotflow aroundfins.
Temperaturesincar trunks havebeenmeasuredas highas 175'F(80'c) inthesummer time.
sincethe thermalshut-down pointfor the Amplifier is 185'F(85'c) it is easy tosee that it must
bemountedfor maximumcoolingcapability.To achievemaximumadvantageof
convectionais flow inan enclosedtrunk, mounttheamplifierina verticalposition,on a
verticalsurface.
Coolingrequirementsare considerablyrelaxedwhen mountinginsidethe passenger
compartmentsincethe driver will notoftenallowtemperaturesto reacha criticalpoint.
Floor mountingunderthe seat is usually satisfactory as longas there is atleast
1 inch(2cm)
abovethe Amplifier's fins for ventilation.
0 a Selecta suitable locationthat is convenientfor mounting,is accessible for wiring, and
has ample roomfor air circulationandcooling.
b.Use the amplifier as a templateto mark the mountingholes.Removethe Amplifier and
drill 4 holes.use extreme caution,inspectunderneathsurfacebeforedrilling.
c.Secure the Amplifier usingthe screws provided.

A. CONNECTINGTHE POWER (Fig.1)
CAUTION:
AS A PRECAUTION,IT
IS ADVISABLETO DISCONNECTTHEVEHICLE'S BAnERY BEFORE MAKINGCONNECTION
TO THE +12VOLTS SUPPLY WIRING.
418 GAUGE(Thickerif planningfor additionalAmplifiers) wire is recommendedboththe
powerandgroundwires. 12 Gauge,for the remoteture-onwire. Bothtypesare
available
at most MobileAudio Dealersor InstallationSho~s.
(1) GROUND:To VehicleChassis
To avoidunwantedignitionnoisecausedby groundloops,it is essential thatthe
Amplifier begroundedto a clean,bare, metalsurfaceof the vehicles chassis.
NOTE:
GROUND WIRE SHOULD NOT BE EXTENDEDMORETHAN
3 FI.(1 METER).
(2) +12Volt(Fused) Constant Power:To Battery (+)
Duetothe powerrequirementsof theAmplifier, this connectionshouldbemade
directlytothepositive
(+) terminalof battery.For safety measure,install anin-line Fuse
Holder (notincluded)as closetothe battery positive
(+) terminalas possiblewith an
ampererating;nottoexceedtotalvalue of fuses inAmp.
(3) RemoteTurn-One Input : To PowerAntenna output of Car Stereo
This Amplifier is turned "0N"remotelywhen the vehicle'sstereo is turned "ON".
NOTE:
IF YOUR RADIODOES NOT HAVE +12VOLT OUTPUT LEADWHEN THE RADIOIS TURNED ON.
THE 'REMn TERMINAL ONTHE AMPLIFIER CAN BE CONNECTEDTO VEHICLE'S ACCESSORY CIRCUITTHAT IS LIVE
WHEN THE KEY IS 'ON'.

B. VARIABLE LOW-PASS FILTER (40Hz-250Hz)
For use as a dedicated subwoofer channel,set filter switch to "LPF". Adjust variable
crossoverfrequencywith controlas desired The amplifierinputcircuit filters out
everythingabove40
..... 250Hz (dependentonthe adjustmentof the frequency control).
so onlythedeepest bass notesare amplified.

For use as a dedicated midhigh rangdchannel,set filter switch to "HPF".The inpul
circuitfilters out allfrequenciesbelow40Hz .... 250Hz.

NOTE:
DONOT USE INCONJUNCTIONWlTH HIGH LEVEL INPUT WIRES.
Wire routingis CRITICAL for NOISE FREE PERFORMANCE. Observethe following:
1. Always use highquality RCA typeshielded cables.
2. Always use theshortest lenghtpossible.If the cable is too long, makean *S" type
loop(nota coiledloop) in the centerof the cableto take upany excess.
3. Nevercut theshielded cable andre-spliceit.
4. Never routeany Amplifierinputcables nearor paralleltospeakeroutputs,high
energy ignitionwires, or near computercontrolledignitioncircuitunitsComputer
unitsmay befoundbehindor underthe dash panelinlatemodelcars).
This METER LAMP will illuminatewhen the amplifier is turned"ON".If itfailsto illuminate,
check the power connectionstotheAmplifier andfuses.
PROTECTIONCIRCUIT
Shouldthe Amplifier be "SHORT CIRCUITED" overloadedor overheated,the protect
circuitwill "SHUT-DOWN" the Amplifier.

THIS AMPLIFIER IS DESIGNEDTO OPERATE WlTH A MINIMUMLOADIMPEDANCEOF 2 OHMS INSTEREO.

4 OHMS IN MONO)BRIDGED, MULTI-MODE) CONFIGURATION.
SUBJECTINGTO IMPEDANCE'S LOWER THAN RECOMMENDED,MAY CONSTITUTE TO POTENTIALDAMAGETO THE
MOSFET POWER SUPPLY. FOLLOWINSTRUCTIONS ONSECTION. "WIRINGCONNECTIONS" FOR FURTHER
INFORMATION.

Inorder to achievemaximumsignal-to-noiseperformance,this controladjuststhe signal
levelfrom your Car StereoISource,to matchtheAmplifier's sensitivity. Itis NOT a volume
control.
To adjust, proceedas follows:
h
a Set INPUT LEVEL Controlatmid-point.
b.Listenfor audibledistortion as you Increasethe Car StereoVOLUME control.
If none
is heard,turn the adjustmentlevelcontroltowardto 'MAX" instages, untilthe onsetof
audibledistortion is heard,then decrease to "MIN" levelpriortothe immediate
pointof audibledistort~on.
c.If distortion is immediatelyheard,turn controlto 'MIN" untilthe soundis clear.
NOTE:
NOT PERFORMING ABOVE ADJUSTMENT PROCEDURE AND/OR SIMPLY SETTING THIS CONTROL AT OR NEAR
"MAX" POSITION. MAY INDUCE ELECTRICAL AUDIO NOISE INTO THE SYSTEM.

Leavethe Crossover (Subwoofer)switch on "Full" positlon.
Use a
100 Volt, non-polarcapacitor for a high pass crossoverand a wire coil(inductor)to
blockhighfrequencies from the Crossover (Subwoofer)as shown inthe figure below.
Capacitorandinductorvalues as written inthe belowdetermine the crossover
- frequencies.
The front and rearchannels of this amplifiergetthis capability.
Only the rear leftand rightchannelsareshown below.

Take carewhenyouwork near thethanks, lines, or hydraulic lines, andelectricalwiring.
Don't mountthis system so thatthe wire connectionsate unprotectedare subjectto
pinchingor damagefrom nearbyobjects.
+ 12V DC powerwire must befused atthe battery positive terminalconnection.

Beforemakingor breakingpower connectionsatthis ststem power terminals,disconnect
the
+12 V wire atthe batteryend.
Confirmyour radiolcassetteplayerand/or other equip is turnedoff while connectrngthe
inputjacks andspeakerterminals.
If youneedto replacethepower fuse, replaceitonly with a fuse identicaltothat
suppliedwith the system.Usinga fuse of differenttypeor ratingmayresultin damage to
this system which isn'tcoveredby the warranty.
