SYMPTOMS OF CARBON MONOXIDE POISONING
Carbon monoxide (CO) is a colorless, odorless, tasteless, extremely toxic gas that
can KILL in a matter of minutes. Breathing air containing carbon monoxide
produces symptoms of headache, dizziness, loss of muscular control, a sleepy
feeling and finally coma. Moderate or severe brain damage can result from inhaling
air containing carbon monoxide. Carbon monoxide is a product of incomplete
combustion of petrol and occurs in exhaust fumes of petrol-burning heaters and all
internal combustion engines. Carbon Monoxide collects in spaces where there is no
constant air flow or ventilation. If you start to feel sick, dizzy or weak due to
exposure to CO while using petrol engine, GET TO FRESH AIR IMMEDIATELY.
ADDING OR DRAINING PETROL TO OR FROM THE ENGINE
Petrol and petrol vapors are extremely flammable and
explosive. Fire and explosion can result in severe burns
and even death.
•Turn engine to the OFF position and let cool at least two minutes before
removing petrol cap. Loosen cap slowly to relieve pressure in petrol tank.
• DO NOT fill or drain petrol tank inside enclosed structures. Accidental sparks
can result in fires or explosions leading to severe burns and even death.
Keep protective guards in place and in proper working condition.
Maintain tools and equipment with care. They will function better and more
safely when kept clean and in good working condition. Keeping the tool clean,
dry, and free of grime will add to its life and performance.
Do not use the tool for applications other than specified.
SAFETY RULES FOR PETROL ENGINES
Carbon monoxide is a product of incomplete combustion, such as exhaust
fumes from the engine. Carbon monoxide is colorless, odorless and tasteless
and can kill in a matter of minutes
Gas particulate filters and respirators will not protect someone
from carbon monoxide poisoning. If symptoms of carbon monoxide
poisoning appear, take the affected person outdoors immediately
and away from all structures and equipment that could produce the
gas. Call for emergency medical treatment and make them aware of the
situation.
Operate generator only outdoors. Do not allow exhaust gas fumes from
entering confined areas through windows, open doors, ventilation ducts and
other openings.
Do not start or run engine indoors or in an enclosed area, such as agarage
(even if windows and doors are open). This also applies to the engine
compartment of a recreational vehicle (RV).

go of. Failure to be aware of this function can result in broken
bones, fractures, bruises and sprains.
•When starting the engine, pull cord slowly until resistance is felt, then pull
rapidly to avoid kickback.
Unintentional sparking can result in fire or electric shock.
Failure to observe this warning can result in property
damage, severe burns and/or death.
•Ensure spark plug is in place before attempting to start engine.
•Ensure muffler is secured to engine before starting.
•Ensure petrol cap is on petrol tank and tightened securely.
•Ensure air cleaner is clean and properly attached to engine.
A dirty air cleaner element changes the air to pe dnaoitarlort
promotes incomplete combustion of petrol increasing the output of
carbon monoxide. Always make sure air cleaner element is clean
before every operation of the engine.
• DO NOT crank engine with spark plug wire removed. The resulting spark
could ignite spilled petrol.

The Ground and Neutral pins in all AC outlets in this generator are BONDED (per-
manently connected) to the generator frame and its components.
See “CONNECTING TO A BUILDING’S ELECTRICAL SYSTEM” section for important
grounding information.
CONNECTING TO A BUILDING’S ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
Generator produces hazardous voltage. Failure to isolate
generator from power utility can result in serious injury or death to electric
utility workers due to backfeed of electrical energy. Do not connect the gener-
ator directly into your home's electrical system through a receptacle outlet.
Connections to a building’s electrical system for usage as standby power
must be provided by a qualified electrician. All connections must isolate
generator power from utility power or other alternative power sources and
must comply with all applicable laws and electrical codes.
When using generator for backup power, notify utility company. Use
approved transfer equipment to isolate generator from electric utility.
The Neutral Bond Wire (located inside the alternator of the generator) must be
removed when connecting this generator to a building electrical system.
1. Make sure engine is switched off.
Perform the following:
2. Remove the Alternator rear cover by removing its two mounting hardware.
3. Remove mounting hardware and remove the Neutral/Ground Bonding jumper
wire (Green/Yellow wire terminated by two ring lugs) which connects the terminal
block to the and body (chassis) of the alternator. Reinstall hardware and
tighten firmly.
4. Replace the alternator cover and its mounting hardware and tighten.
5. Peel off and remove “NEUTRAL BONDED TO FRAME” label on the front panel.
Store the label for future use.
6. When the generator is removed from the buildings electrical system the neutral
bondwire must be reconnected.

THE FOLLOWING PROCEDURE MUST BE PERFORMED BY A REGISTERED ELECTRICIAN
Check the National Electrical Code requirements
for the frame and external electrical conductive parts of this
generator to be properlyconnected to an approved earth
ground. Local electrical codes may also require proper grounding
of the unit. For this purpose, a GROUNDING TERMINAL is
provided on the generator front panel.

240 V AC, 15A, S223E-1 OUTLET:
Use this outlet to operate 240V
AC, 50Hz, single phase loads
requiring up to 15A each outlet.
The outlet is protected by press-
to-reset circuit protectors. If
protectors pop due to appliance
overload, remove the loads and
wait for a minute for the protec-
tors to cool down and then press
to rest.
CONNECTING TO GENERATOR OUTLETS
In order to prevent damage and prolong the life of the generator and any attached appli-
ances or tools, it is very important to use caution when adding loads to the generator.
Use the following steps as a guide to protect the generator and provide safety for those
who use it.
•NEVER start or stop generator engine with electrical devices plugged in and/or
turned on. Damage to both electrical devices and generator can occur.
•Ensure generator is sitting on a level surface.
•When starting generator engine, pull cord slowly until resistance is felt, then
pull rapidly to avoid kickback.
Whenever excessive petrol is present in the air/petrol
mixture, a “flooding” condition can occur. Move choke lever to “RUN”
position and pull starter cord handle repeatedly until engine starts.
•Start engine and wait until engine runs at a stabilized speed before connecting
to electrical loads.
•DO NOT expose generator to excessive moisture, dust, dirt or corrosive vapors..
•DO NOT operate generator in rain.
•DO NOT allow unqualified persons to operate or maintain generator.
SHUT GENERATOR OFF IF:
•Electrical Output is lost.
•Various components spark, smoke, or emits flames.
•Generator vibrates excessively.
OUTLETS AND CIRCUIT PROTECTORS
Overloaded electrical cords can overheat, arc and burn
resulting in property damage, severe burns and even death.
Only use cords rated for the equipment it’s being used on.
Follow all warnings and cautions in this manual for use of
extension cords.
Keep extension cords as short as possible to minimize voltage drop.
Plugs NOT INCLUDED with generator.
Outlets may be marked with rating value greater than generator
capacity. Never attempt to power a device requiring more amperage
than generator or extension cord can supply. Do not overload genera-
tor because of risk of damage to equipment, fire or explosion.

GENERATOR CAPACITY AND APPLIANCE WATTAGE
Ensure generator can supply adequate rated (running) and peak (starting) wattage
for devices it will power at same time. Follow the steps below:
1. Select all devices that will be powered at the same time.
2. Total rated running watts of devices. This is amount of power the generator
must produce to keep devices running. See table below.
3. Estimate amount of peak (starting) wattage needed. Peak wattage is a short
burst of power needed to start electric motor-driven tools and appliances such
as an electric compressors, pumps, drills or refrigerators. Because not all
motors start at same time, total peak wattage can be estimated by adding only
the item(s) with highest additional peak watts to the total rated watts as
described below.
EXAMPLES OF RATED AND PEAK WATTAGE
TOOL OR APPLIANCE
Total Rated (Running) Watts = 2300
Highest Additional Peak Watts = 3600
Total Generator Output Required = 5900
Never add more loads to generator than it has capacity for. Take additional
care to consider peak loads in generator capacity. Exceeding generator load
limit can result in damage to unit and to appliances or tools connected to it.
Exceeding generators wattage/amperage capacity can damage generator
and/or any electrical devices connected to it.
Improper treatment of generator can damage internal components and
shorten the life of unit.
Exhaust heat/gases can ignite combustible materials, structures or
damage to petrol tank resulting in fire. Keep at least 1.5 m
clearance on all sides of generator including overhead.
•DO NOT exceed wattage/amperage capacity. See “Generator Capacity” section of
this manual.
•If connected devices overheat, turn them OFF and disconnect them from generator.
•DO NOT touch bare wires or outlets. Severe burns or even death can result.
•DO NOT use generator with electrical cords which are worn, frayed, bare or
otherwise damaged.
•DO NOT handle generator or electrical cables while standing in water, while
barefoot or whenever hands and feet are wet.
•DO NOT connect 3-phase loads to generator.
•DO NOT connect 60 Hz loads to generator.
•Always connect electrical loads to generator while the load is turned OFF. After
connecting loads to generator, turn the load ON.
•Always turn electrical loads OFF and disconnect them from generator before
stopping generator engine.

generator. All service and adjustments should be made at least one time each season.
It is important that the maintenance chart below be followed.
*Recommended to be performed more often than in the schedule if operated in dusty, hot and
dusty environments.
** Recommended to be performed by authorized dealers
*** Adjust air gap to 0.6mm - 0.7mm
CLEANING GENERATOR
Daily or before use inspections should include areas around and underneath gener-
ator looking for signs of petrol or oil leaks. Preventative maintenance should be taken
if leaks are found. Clean accumulated debris from outside and inside generator.
Ensure all linkages, springs and other engine controls are kept clean. Inspect cool-
ing air slots and openings on generator. Openings must be kept clean and unob-
structed for peak performance of generator.
Do not attempt to stop engine by moving choke
lever to “CHOKE” position. Backfire, fire and engine damage can
occur. Failure to observe this warning can result in severe burns.

Unintentional sparking can cause fire or electrical shock.
Failure to observe this warning can cause severe
property damage, severe burns and even death.
Disconnect spark plug wire from spark plug and cover tip of spark plug wire
with insulating tape and place wire where it cannot come in contact with
spark plug or generator frame.
Other Storage Tips
1. DO NOT store petrol from one season to another unless it’s been treated with
fuel stabilizer.
2. Replace petrol container, if metal, and it begins to rust. Rust and dirt and debris can
contaminate petrol supply and components resulting in poor performance and/or internal
damage to engine. petrol should be stored in newer approved plastic storage containers.
GENERATOR
1. Cover generator with a suitable cover that does not retain moisture such as a
plastic or plastic coated tarp.
2. Store generator in a clean, dry area.
Certain storage covers can be flammable or can
melt in higher temperatures. Do not place storage cover over
generator unit until it has completely cooled.
PREPARING FOR USE AFTER STORAGE
1. Switch the on/off switch to the OFF position, slowly pull the Starter cord a few
times to clean oil from the cylinder which was added prior to storage.
2. Remove the spark plug from the cylinder. Wipe oil from the spark plug and return
it to the cylinder and retighten.
3. Reconnect the spark plug wire.
Engine components should be kept clean reducing risk of overheating and ignition
of accumulated debris.
•Use a damp cloth to wipe exterior surfaces clean.
•Use a soft bristle brush to loosen caked on dirt or oil.
•Use a shop-vacuum to pick up any loose dirt and debris.
Do not use water or other liquids to clean generator.
Cleaning fluids can enter petrol system resulting in poor performance.
Additionally, if fluids enter generator through cooling air slots, portions of the
fluid can be retained in voids and cracks of the rotor and stator winding
insulation. Over time, liquid and dirt buildup on internal windings will decrease
insulation resistance on windings decreasing performance of generator.
STORAGE
Petrol and petrol vapor are extremely
flammable and explosive. Fire or explosion from misuse of
petrol can cause severe burns and even death.
TO PROTECT AGAINST RUST FORMATION DURING STORAGE, OIL THE
CYLINDER BORE:
•Switch the on/off switch to the OFF position, remove spark plug and pour
approximately 15 ml of clean engine oilinto the cylinder.
•Install spark plug and pull starter handle slowly to distribute oil. DO NOT start
engine at this time.
•Slowly pull the recoil starter 2 to 3 times to distribute and coat the cylinder bore
with oil.
