SPEAKER CONNECTION
To attach speakers to the main unit, align the grooves of main unit and the speaker box, slide
the speaker box downwards, push the speaker latch in a direction indicated on the lock to lock
the Speaker box, then insert the plug of speaker wire into Speaker Jack (L&R).
WARNING: Speaker must be plugged into Speaker Jack firmly before switch on the power of
main unit.
POWER SUPPLY
This unit is designed to be operated from two different types of power sources as listed below:
❑DC OPERATION
This set runs on 8 pcs "UM1" or "D" type batteries. For best performance, always use heavy
duty alkaline batteries.
TO INSTALL BATTERIES
1. Remove the Battery Compartment Cover by gently pushing downward and outward. Insert
8 pcs "UM1" or "D" type batteries.
BE SURE TO PLACE THE BATTERIES AS PER THE ENGRAVED DIAGRAM INSIDE
THE COMPARTMENT.
2. Replace the cover.
NOTE: Old batteries may swell and leak. To avoid damage to your instrument, remove the
batteries when the unit is to be stored for long periods of time or if the batteries become
exhausted.
NOTE: To use your set on battery power, you MUST remove the AC cord from both the wall
outlet and the back of the set.

❑AC OPERATION
Plug the AC power cord into AC socket, and the other end of the cord into the standard
household outlet as shown.
NOTE: For dual voltage version, make sure that the AC Voltage Selector is switched to your
local voltage (optional).
TO PLAY THE RADIO
1. Set the FUNCTION switch to the RADIO position, the POWER Indicator will light up.
2. Select the desired band with the BAND switch.
3. Tune to the desired station by rotating the TUNING control (rotate that control back and forth
until you get the strongest and clearest reception).
4. The built-in AM antenna and external FM TELESCOPIC ANTENNA are directional.
yWhen you are receiving an FM broadcast, fully extend the TELESCOPIC ANTENNA and
rotate it for the best reception.
yFor AM broadcast, rotate the whole set until the best reception is heard.
5. Adjust the volume level to a comfortable listening level.
6. To turn off the radio, set the FUNCTION switch to the TAPE, CD/MP3 position.
NOTES:
yIf a particular FM (STEREO) station is weak, or you hear too much background noise, try
moving the band selector switch to the FM (MONO) position. This can often result in a much
clearer reception.
yWhen the band selector switch is set to FM STEREO and a stereo broadcast is on the air.
HANDLING AND MAINTENANCE OF A DISC
Follow the instructions below to handle and maintain your disc in
order that long time and trouble free performance can possibly be
obtained:
yEnsure not to caress the rain bow side of the disc; handle the
disc by the edge.
yLong time exposure to sunshine, high temperatures and
humidity will damage the disc. And keep storage area clean.
yAvoid sticking labels on both sides of a disc. Writing with
pointed articles on the disc should be strictly avoided.
yClean the disc wiping the centre and then working out to the
edge with a dry & soft cloth or a disc brush. Avoid any cleansing
lotion or chemical eradicator.
yStore them in their cases when they are not to be used.
LOAD A DISC
1. Open the CD door by the Door open area.
2. Load a disc on the disc tray with the label side facing up.
3. Close the CD door.
PLAY A DISC
1. Slide the Function switch to CD/MP3 position.
2. Follow the steps above to load a disc.
3. The player begins reading disc immediately the CD door is closed, "---" shows in the LCD.
4. When the disc is successfully read, total number of the tracks on disc shows in the LCD and
playback follows with the first track.
