⚠
Hot water: We have taken great care to deliver a product with many built in safety features, but
you will also need to take due care when dispensing heated water to avoid accidental scalding. It is
important that everyone who uses this product understands how to use it safely. The example shown
in this guide may vary slightly from model to model.
⚠
Continual short dispenses of water <100ml may fill the internal expansion vessel in the boiler,
this may cause the product to drip water from the tap spout when the boiler is heating, if you
experience this then dispense a few litres of water to self-empty the expansion vessel.
⚠
Whilst the flow rate from the product has a maximum flow rate limitation inbuilt the flow rate
may vary in use due to fluctuations in pressure or air pockets. When the water is dispensed it may
take a brief moment to dispense as it refills previously emptied pipes.

For 4 in 1 taps only (with filtered cold function):
When dispensing, hold the Hotkey close to the ‘cup’
symbol on the centre front of the tap. The boiler will dispense
water. When the Hotkey is moved away, it will automatically
stop dispensing hot water.
Your tap can dispense 4 types of water:
1) Cold (unfiltered) water directly from mains supply - This is
delivered when the right tap handle is pulled forwards.
) Cold (filtered) water - This is delivered when the right tap
handle is pushed backwards. We recommend “flushing” the
filtered water on each use to ensure cold and fresh water is
delivered:
a. Additionally, if the tap has not been used for 1
week you should flush litres.
b. Or if the tap has not been used for 4 weeks you
should flush 10 litres.
3) Hot (domestic) water - This is delivered when the left tap
handle is pulled forwards.
4) Hot (boiled & filtered) water - This is delivered when the
‘Hotkey’ key fob is moved close to or rested on the front of
the tap below the spout (near the steaming cup indicator
symbol).
For 3 in 1 taps only (without filtered cold function):
Your tap can dispense 3 types of water:
1) Hot & Cold (domestic) water - This is delivered when the
handle is tilted right to increase flow. Cold is achieved by
rotating the handle backwards becoming warmer as the
handle is rotated forwards.
5) Hot (boiled & filtered) water - This is delivered when the
‘Hotkey’ key fob is moved close to or rested on the front of
the tap below the spout (near the steaming cup indicator
symbol).

Reducing the risk of splashing:
Reducing the risk of splashing:Reducing the risk of splashing:
Reducing the risk of splashing:
1) Avoid holding the vessel that you are filling too far away or
close from the spout exit. We recommend around 5-10cm
( -4”). Start with the cup closer to the spout exit.
) Tilt the cup slightly to reduce the splashing from the base
of the cup.
⚠
Eliminate backflow contamination:
As your mixer tap has multiple waterways, as with all taps it is
important to eliminate the risk of back flow contamination in
waterways.
1) Always respect the minimum gap shown between the
spout exit and the vessel being filled.
2) Never use 98° water simultaneously with any other water
source.

Each time the product is used you should flush a small amount of boiled water through before use. This ensures
fresh water is dispensed, typically this can be used to preheat your cup. If unused for extended periods, then flush the
product for a longer time (see section periods of non use).
If two hands are needed (to hold a larger
pan for example), first move the spout over the
sink bowl, then the Hotkey can be leaned against
the front of the tap instead as shown.
Start with the pan in both hands and closer to
the spout exit until it has a small volume of water
in the base, then if the pan becomes
uncomfortably heavy place the pan on the
drainer, remove the hotkey, rotate the spout
towards the pan then replace the hotkey to fill
the pan further. Once filled remove the hotkey
before removing the pan.

⚠
When dispensing hot water always be mindful to keep your hands and arms from being under the spout exit.
⚠
Even though the spout it is thermally insulated, you should avoid touching the very end of the spout, especially
immediately after dispensing hot water.
⚠
When dispensing hot water using the ‘Hotkey’ do not simultaneously dispense any other type of water to avoid
the risk of backflow.
This product has a unique patented safety system by using the ‘Hotkey’ key fob to dispense the near boiling
water. If you want to prevent the accidental use of the near boiling water tap function only for example if children are
in your home, then store the Hotkey away from the tap. The Hotkey is magnetic to allow you to ‘stick’ it in out of
reach places (such as the fridge or the cooker hood). With the Hotkey away from the tap, it can only be used safely as
a conventional tap without the hot water function.
If the tap can only be used by competent adults, then the
Hotkey can be ‘stuck’ to the rear of the tap body (as shown) when
not in use for more convenient access.
Magnetic fields:
The ‘Hotkey’ key fob houses a strong magnet used to sense its proximity to the mixertap and also for convenience
when storing the Hotkey. Any customers with a pacemaker should not place the Hotkey within 5 inches (100mm)
of such devices.
All magnets can damage electronic devices and bank cards so they should be stored away from each other.

If the product is going to remain unused and unattended (for example you are away for a few days), we
recommend changing the temperature to its minimum setting 75°C, this will reduce the energy consumption and
encourage sanitary conditions.
⚠
WARNING
: If you are not using the product or leaving it unattended for a period longer than 1
week you should turn the boiler into standby mode (see using the product section), do not turn off
the power at the mains socket or unplug the boiler as this may reset the filter counter.

You may also consider closing your mains stop cock to prevent flood damage from any of the water using appliances and
pipes in your household (as generally advised by insurers, each home will have individual requirements check first with
your plumber if you are unsure).
Upon returning after an extended period of absence with the boiler power off you must re-sanitise the boiler and
connections by following the steps below.
1. Turn on the water supply (if previously isolated)
. Turn on the boiler but leave it in standby mode (boiler screen does not display temperature)
3. Dispense the entire contents of the boiler using the hotkey as normal until the heated water stream is entirely cold
then allow it to continue to run for a further 5 minutes.
4. Turn on the standard cold tap on and run this for 5 minutes (not simultaneously with the boiler water)
5. If your tap has a cold filtered water function (4 in 1 taps only) run the cold filtered water for 1 minute.
6. Turn the boiler on using the standby key (boiler screen now displays the temperature)
7. Adjust the boiler temperature to 98°C using the “+” key
8. Wait for the boiler to display “READY”
9. Wait a further 10 minutes
10. Adjust the temperature to your final desired setting using the “+” and “-“ keys
11. dispense 4 litres of boiled water using the Hotkey (approximately 4 minutes)
1 . Allow the boiler to reheat fully and display “ready” before use

1.2.2 Filter replacement guide:
Understanding the expected life of the filter:
Understanding the expected life of the filter:Understanding the expected life of the filter:
Understanding the expected life of the filter:
The product is supplied with a filter specifically designed to both improve the taste and clarity of the water but also to
assist protecting the boiler from contaminants and scale.
The filter status bar time limit is 6 mont s. This reminder is based on 19 degrees Clark (London) hardness of water and
an estimated 5 litres filter use per day. The filter volume at this hardness is approximately 10 0 litres. Research shows a
near 50/50 split of average water use between domestic boiled and ambient filtered water usage.
T e volume limit is 1750 litres. Based on half the capacity of the filter in the softer water conditions, this assumes 50%
of the water is used for cold drinking water only.
Each installation will have a different number of people using it, a different usage pattern and an individual water
hardness “GB Clark rating”. Because of this the PROBOIL can only remind you when to check the filter, you must judge
for yourself if the filter needs changing or not, as no two installations are the same use the guide below.
Regardless of the amount of usage it is required for you to replace the filter on schedule for reasons of product
protections, hygiene and maintaining your warranty. The recommended replacement frequency may increase in hard
water areas or high usage applications.
Only genuine parts must be used to maintain your product warranty, these are available at proboil.co.uk or by calling
(+44) 01 6 83434.
1) Take your GB Clark water hardness value (using a test strip or type
your postcode into your water supplier’s website) and add ° Clarke
(30PPM).
) Using this NEW HIGHER Clark hardness value against the table
(right) in conjunction with your estimated personal water usage you
may better judge the filter replacement guide.
3) Worked Example: WATER USAGE = 086 litres, your local water
hardness is 11° Clark, add ° Clark, then the ‘REPLACE LITRES’ value
in the table for 13° Clark is 850 litres. In this example the ‘WATER
USAGE’ is more than ‘REPLACE LITRES’ so the filter requires
replacement.
⚠
If your PROBOIL is noisier t at normal or t e flow rate is
reduced t is is typically a good practical indicator t at t e filter
may need replacing and t e boiler may need to be descaled.
Replacement filters can be obtained by contacting the service
agent number on the sticker on the top of the boiler or by visiting

empty the bucket part way through, turn the water off by temporarily turning the closing the flushing valve (C3) by
turning the flush valve 90° anticlockwise.
11) After fully flushing the filter for 10 litres close the flushing valve by turning the flush valve on the filter head (C3) 90°
anticlockwise to the “closed” position.
1 ) Press and hold simultaneously the “+” and “-“ screen keys to reset the filter counter on screen
13) Dispense the 98°C water by holding the Hotkey close to the ‘cup’ symbol, note: initially as the air purges you may
get some spitting from the end of the tap, this is normal, leave this on and flush for a further 5 minutes or 5 litres.
14) Wait for the boiler to show “READY” before use.
We only warrant the original filter type supplied with your boiler, which is formulated specifically for the
PROBOIL product. If the filter is removed or exchanged for an alternate model it may have a detrimental effect to your
system and accordingly will invalidate your warranty. If you have specific or unusual incoming water conditions, please
contact the service number on the boiler for further advice.
Failure to adjust the incoming water flow rate may reduce the filter life or prevent the filter from performing
correctly, leading to premature damage to other components of the system and will therefore invalidate your warranty.
The filter head must be replaced after 5 years of use.

Descaling the
PROBOIL
system
:
PROBOIL4E like all other appliances that use hot water can become coated with limescale over time, replacing
your filter frequently will help delay this process, but not prevent fully it (even in areas with lower water hardness).
Depending on the frequency of your usage pattern and the harder the water in your area, the quicker you should expect
the limescale to build and therefore your product will need to be cleaned and descaled.
Only genuine parts and consumables must be used to maintain your product warranty, these are available at
proboil.co.uk or by calling (+44) 01 6 83434.
⚠
If your PROBOIL is noisier t at normal or t e flow rate is reduced t is is typically a good practical indicator t at
t e filter may need replacing and t e boiler and aerator may need to be descaled, there are two key parts of the
product that likely will need regular descaling.
The aerator on the end of the tap/dispenser spout:
The aerator on the end of the tap/dispenser spout:The aerator on the end of the tap/dispenser spout:
The aerator on the end of the tap/dispenser spout:
If the aerator at the end of the tap spout contains debris or scale then it will reduce the flow rate, cause dripping during
reheating of the water and may cause more splashing when in use.
The aerator and its housing can be descaled using ordinary white wine vinegar and water solution.
1) Press and hold the
P
key for 1.5 seconds, this will turn the boiler into “standby” mode, run domestic cold water
through the spout for a few seconds so internal parts are cool to the touch.

The filter system provided with PROBOIL will help to prevent of the calcification (scaling) of the boiler however it will be
required from time to time that the PROBOIL unit will need to be descaled, drained and refilled to ensure the maximum
energy efficiency and service life from the product especially in hard water areas.
The suggested PROBOIL tank minimum descaling frequency is once annually. Descaling solutions can be obtained
by contacting proboil.co.uk or by calling (+44) 01 6 83434.
If the tank within the boiler becomes calcified it will lead to a reduction of both energy efficiency and temperature
accuracy of the boiler. The boiler must only be cleaned using only genuine PROBOIL descaling solution to maintain your
product warranty, other formulations may cause inadvertent damage.

WARNING
: Harmful if swallowed. Irritating to eyes and skin. KEEP OUT OF REACH OF
CHILDREN. Avoid contact with skin and eyes. In case of contact with eyes, rinse immediately with
plenty of water and seek medical advice. After contact with skin, wash immediately with plenty of
water. If swallowed, seek medical advice immediately and show this container or label.
Descaler Ingredients: Sulfamic Acid. Country of origin USA. See www.proboil.co.uk for furt er information and SDS.
⚠
The descaling chemical is acidic and should only be used and handled as indicated, care should
be taken not to ingest, expose to skin, clothing or decorative surfaces. Take care when touching all
surfaces and when disconnecting or connecting hoses they may be hot and or generate steam, you
must use personal protective wear to prevent accidental scalding.
During the descaling process you will need to disconnect the boiler power, this may reset the filter life counter. If
your boiler is calcified it is also likely the filter cartridge is overdue replacement, if this is the case you should change the
filter after descaling the boiler.
1) Press and hold the
P
key for 1.5 seconds, this will turn the boiler into standby mode (note: temperature
information is not shown on screen in standby mode).

if you are unsure.
You can empty the boiler faster from the outlet (C) by depressing
the centre of the check valve insert found in the boiler inlet (B) whilst
the boiler is upside down using a blunt household object like a pencil.
11. Each bottle of PROBOIL descaling solution contains 00ml of descaling solution, one bottle should be enough to
descale the tank, however if you believe the tank to be heavily scaled or if you are unsure then use both the
00ml bottles supplied,
1 . Shake the descaler bottle(s) thoroughly before use, cow cut the top from the bottle nozzle(s) using sharp
