Avvertenze generali
• I prodotti a cui questo manuale si riferisce sono conformi alle Direttive della Comunità Europea e pertanto recano la sigla .
• Il dispositivo funziona con pericolosa tensione di rete 230V~. Non intervenire mai al suo interno al di fuori delle ope-
razioni descritte nel presente manuale; esiste il pericolo di una scarica elettrica.
• Questo dispositivo appartiene alla Classe di protezione III, pertanto deve operare sempre con un appropriato trasfor-
matore di tensione. Controllare periodicamente l’unità, il cavo di alimentazione ed il trasformatore. Assicurarsi che
quest’ultimo sia della tipologia corretta, come indicato nel pannello posteriore del dispositivo.
• L’unità non per uso domestico solo per uso professionale.
• Evitare di utilizzare l’unità:
- in luoghi soggetti ad eccessiva umidità;
- in luoghi soggetti a vibrazioni, o a possibili urti;
- in luoghi a temperatura superiore ai 45°C o inferiori a 2°C.
• Evitare che nell’unità penetrino liquidi inammabili, acqua o oggetti metallici.
• Non smontare e non apportare modiche all’unità.
• Tutti gli interventi devono essere sempre e solo eettuati da personale tecnico qualicato. Rivolgersi al più vicino
centro di assistenza tecnica autorizzato.
• Se si desidera eliminare il dispositivo denitivamente, consegnarlo
per lo smaltimento ad un’istituzione locale per il riciclaggio.
Attenzione e precauzione per l’installazione
• Prima di iniziare qualsiasi operazione di manutenzione o pulizia disconnettere l’unità dalla rete di alimentazione.
• Evitare di installare l’unità in prossimità di fonti di calore.
• Se il dispositivo dovesse trovarsi ad operare in condizioni dierenti da quelle descritte nel presente manuale, potreb-
bero vericarsi dei danni; in tal caso la garanzia verrebbe a decadere. Inoltre, ogni altra operazione potrebbe provoca-
re cortocircuiti, incendi, scosse elettriche, rotture ect.

1.2 Descrizione
Il WDMX è un’unità wireless DMX di ultima generazione, in grado di gestire la trasmissione senza li dell’in-
tera gamma dei 512 canali DMX no a 150m, minimizzando l’entità dei cablaggi. Basato su tecnologia W-
DMX, è adabile, sicuro, semplice da usare e al tempo stesso in grado di soddisfare i progetti e le richieste
più esigenti. La singola unità WDMX è congurabile sia da trasmettitore che da ricevitore con un semplice
switch, rendendo estremamente essibile la composizione di sistemi wireless DMX. Un sistema si compone
infatti congurando un’unità come trasmittente e una o più unità congurate in ricezione del segnale.

- 2 - FUNZIONI E IMPOSTAZIONI
2.1 Funzionamento
Connettere l’alimentatore all’ingresso DC e collegare il trasformatore ad una presa di rete (230V~ 50Hz).
ATTENZIONE. Assicurarsi che il voltaggio a disposizione corrisponda a quello indicato sul pannello poste-
riore del dispositivo: i danni derivanti da una connessione impropria non sono coperti da alcuna garanzia.
• Tutte le unità devono essere alimentate tramite l’alimentatore in dotazione il quale non deve essere mai
collegato ad unità DIMMER anche se queste operano in modalità“ON/OFF”(non dimmer).
• Prima di alimentare il dispositivo, controllare che il voltaggio a disposizione sia lo stesso indicato sull’ali-
mentatore in dotazione.

2.3 Impostazione di un sistema WDMX
Qualsiasi numero di unità WDMX può essere usato in un determinato progetto. Queste istruzioni sono una
guida al corretto setup di un sistema WDMX.
NOTA. Poiché le unità WDMX possono operare su due frequenze separate, è possibile avere due sistemi
WDMX operativi indipendentemente l’uno dall’altro nello stesso progetto. Un sistema WDMX è formato da
una unità trasmittente ed una o più unità riceventi che operano sulla stessa frequenza.
La frequenza 1 è 915 MHz e la frequenza 2 è 916 MHz.
1. Un’ unità WDMX deve essere designata come“Trasmettitore”. Questa unità deve essere collegata:
- ad un controller universale DMX tramite l’uscita proveniente da una unità di una catena DMX;
- oppure ad una qualsiasi altra apparecchiatura DMX operante come MASTER nel modalità master/sla-
ve.
Per designare l’unità a “Trasmettitore”, settare l’interruttore DIP-switch 1 su “OFF”.
2. Settare il trasmettitore su una delle due frequenze agendo sull’interruttore DIP-switch 2 (OFF= frequenza 1,
ON= frequenza 2).
3. Ogni altra unità operante sulla stessa frequenza deve essere designata a “Ricevitore”. Designare altre
unità come “Trasmettitore” sulla stessa frequenza, può essere causa di errori e operazioni indesiderate.
2.4 Indicatori LED di controllo
Vi sono 3 LED spia luminosi accanto agli interruttori DIP-switch.
* NOTA. Il ricevitore produrrà un segnale DMX standard anche se non sta ricevendo dati in wireless dal
trasmettitore. Se il ricevitore non sta acquisendo dati dal trasmettitore, produrrà ripetutamente in uscita
l’ultimo set di dati ricevuto. Se il ricevitore viene acceso prima del trasmettitore, produrrà in uscita“zero”per
ciascun valore di frequenza DMX.

ATTENZIONE
La parte schermata del cavo (calza) non deve mai essere collegata alla terra dell’impianto; ciò comportereb-
be malfunzionamenti delle unità e dei controller.
Per passaggi lunghi può essere necessario l’inserimento di un amplicatore DMX.
In tal caso, è sconsigliato utilizzare nei collegamenti cavo bilanciato microfonico poiché non è in grado di
trasmettere in modo adabile i dati di controllo DMX.
• Collegare l’uscita DMX del controller con l’ingresso DMX della prima unità;
• Collegare, quindi, l’uscita DMX con l’ingresso DMX della successiva unità; l’uscita di quest’ultima con
l’ingresso di quella successiva e via dicendo nchè tutte le unità sono collegate formando una catena.
• Per installazioni in cui il cavo di segnale deve percorrere lunghe distanze è consigliato inserire sull’ultima
unità una terminazione DMX.
3.2 Costruzione del terminatore DMX
La terminazione evita la probabilità che il segnale DMX 512, una volta raggiunta la ne della linea stessa
venga riesso indietro lungo il cavo, provocando, in certe condizioni e lunghezze, la sua sovrapposizione al
segnale originale e la sua cancellazione.
La terminazione deve essere eettuata, sull’ultima unità della catena, con connettori XLR a 5 pin o 3 pin,
saldando una resistenza di 120Ω (minimo 1/4W) tra i terminali 2 e 3, così come indicato in gura.

- 3 - CONNESSIONI
3.1 Collegamenti della linea DMX
La connessione DMX è realizzata con connettori standard XLR. Utilizzare cavi schermati, 2 poli ritorti, con
impedenza 120Ω e bassa capacità. Per il collegamento fare riferimento allo schema di connessione ripor-
tato di seguito:

RISOLUZIONE DEI PROBLEMI
• Se il LED “Power/DMX” del trasmettitore non lampeggia, assicurarsi che sia collegato correttamente ad
un controller universale DMX tramite l’uscita proveniente da un’unità di una catena DMX; oppure ad una
qualsiasi altra apparecchiatura DMX operante come MASTER nel modalità master/slave.
• Se il LED “T/R” del ricevitore non lampeggia in rosso, assicurarsi di aver designato l’unità a ricevitore set-
tando su “ON” l’interruttore DIP-switch 1. Altrimenti spegnere l’unità ricevitore e riaccenderla.
• Se il LED “T/R”del ricevitore non lampeggia in verde, assicurarsi che sia impostato sulla stessa frequenza
del trasmettitore. Se i LED “F1/F2” del trasmettitore e il LED 3 del ricevitore sono di colori diversi, cam-
biare il settaggio dell’interruttore DIP-switch 2 sul trasmettitore o ricevitore per correggere il problema.
• Se nessuno dei LED lampeggia o si illumina, assicurarsi che l’alimentatore sia collegato.

General instructions
• The products referred to in this manual conform to the European Community Directives and are therefore marked with .
• The unit is supplied with hazardous network voltage (230V~). Leave servicing to skilled personnel only. Never make
any modications on the unit not described in this instruction manual, otherwise you will risk an electric shock.
• This device falls under PROTECTION CLASS III. It has to be always operated with an appropriate transformer. From time
to time check the device, the power cord and transformer. Make sure that the transformer is the correct type, the one
stated on the rear panel.
• This unit is not for home use, only professional applications.
• Never use the xture under the following conditions:
- in places subject to excessive humidity;
- in places subject to vibrations or bumps;
- in places with a temperature of over 45°C or less than 2°C.
• Make certain that no inammable liquids, water or metal objects enter the xture.
• Do not dismantle or modify the xture.
• All work must always be carried out by qualied technical personnel. Contact the nearest sales point for an inspection
or contact the manufacturer directly.
• If the unit is to be put out of operation denitively, take it to a local recycling
plant for a disposal which is not harmful to the environment.
Warnings and installation precautions
• Before starting any maintenance work or cleaning of the unit, cut o power from the main supply.
• Do not install the xture near sources of heat.
• If this device will be operated in any way dierent to the one described in this manual, it may suer damages and
the guarantee becomes void. Furthermore, any other operation may lead to dangers like short circuit, burns, electric
shock, etc.

Shipments and claims
The goods are sold“ex works”and always travel at the risk and danger of the distributor. Eventual damage will have to be
claimed to the freight forwarder. Any claim for broken packs will have to be forwarded within 8 days from the reception
of the goods.

tion to proper use and the actual validity of the guarantee. Music & Lights will eventually provide replacement or repair of
the products declining, however, any obligation of compensation for direct or indirect damage resulting from faultiness.

1.2 Description
WDMX “transceiver” is a unit that can act as both transmitter and receiver, by easily changing the setting.
Innovative and still easy to use makes the WDMX a favourite at the production and rental company that
constantly has new and dierent projects. Based on the W-DMX technology that is proven to be reliable,
safe and easy to use but with more advanced features for the most demanding clients and projects.
1.3 Technical specication
DMX-signal wireless “transceiver”, it can act as both a transmitter and a receiver by easily changing the set-
ting.
• Fully compatible with any DMX512 controller.
• Two user-selectable frequencies (915MHz/916MHz).
• Operating distance: 150m (unobstructed environment).
• Durable, extruded aluminum casing with black nishing.
• DMX input: 3-poles XLR socket.
• DMX output: 3-poles XLR plug.

- 3 - FUNCTIONS AND SETTINGS
3.1 Operation
Connect the connection cable of the power unit with the DC in socket. Plug the power unit into your outlet.
ATTENTION. To determine the power requirements for a particular unit, see the label axed to the back
plate of the unit or refer to the unit’s specications sheet.
• All devices must be powered directly o a switched circuit and cannot be run o a rheostat (variable
resistor) or dimmer circuit, even if the rheostat or dimmer channel is used solely for a 0% to 100% switch.
• Before applying power to a xture, check that the source voltage matches the xture’s requirement. This
information is located on the power adaptor that is included with your unit.
2.2 Adjustments of the DIP switches

2.3 Setup WDMX system
Any number of WDMX units can be used together in a given venue. These instructions will explain how to
properly set up a WDMX system.
NOTE. Since WDMX units can operate on two separate frequencies, it is possible to have two WDMX systems
operating independently of each other in one venue. A system is simply one transmitter and one or more
receivers operating on the same frequency.
Frequency 1 is 915 MHz, frequency 2 is 916 MHz.
1. One WDMX unit must be designated as the transmitter. This unit must be connected:
- to either a universal DMX controller, to the output coming from a xture in a DMX daisy chain;
- or any DMX xture operating as the master in master/slave mode.
Set this unit to transmit by turning OFF DIP-switch 1.
2. Set the transmitter to either frequency 1 or frequency 2 by setting DIP-switch 2 (OFF= frequency 1,
ON= frequency).
3. Any other WDMX units operating on the same frequency must be set to receive. Setting more than one
unit to transmit on the same frequency may cause erratic and undesired operation.
2.4 Control LED
There are three indicator lights near the DIP-switches of the unit.
* NOTE. The receiver will output a standard DMX signal even if it is not receiving DMX data wirelessly from
the transmitter. If the receiver is not receiving a signal from a transmitter, it will repeatedly output the last
set of DMX values it received. If the receiver is powered on before the transmitter, it will simply output zero
for each DMX frequency value.

ATTENTION
The screened parts of the cable (sleeve) must never be connected to the system’s earth, as this would cause
faulty xture and controller operation. Over long runs can be necessary to insert a DMX level matching am-
plier. For those connections the use of balanced microphone cable is not recommended because it cannot
transmit control DMX data reliably.
• Connect the controller DMX input to the DMX output of the rst unit.
• Connect the DMX output to the DMX input of the following unit. Connect again the output to the input
of the following unit until all the units are connected in chain.
• When the signal cable has to run longer distance is recommended to insert a DMX termination on the
last unit.
3.2 Construction of the DMX termination
The termination avoids the risk of DMX 512 signals being reected back along the cable when they reaches
the end of the line: under certain conditions and with certain cable lengths, this could cause them to cancel
the original signals. The termination is prepared by soldering a 120Ω 1/4 W resistor between pins 2 and 3 of
the 5-pin male XLR connector.

3.1 Connection of the DMX line
DMX connection employs standard XLR connectors. Use shielded pair-twisted cables with 120Ω impedance
and low capacity. The following diagram shows the connection mode:

TROUBLESHOOTING
• If the Power/DMX light isn’t blinking on the transmitter, check to make sure it is connected to a DMX
controller, to the output coming from a xture in a DMX daisy chain, or any DMX xture operating as the
master in master/slave mode.
• If the T/R light isn’t blinking red on the receiver, check to make sure it is set to receive mode by turning
on DIP-switch 1. If this doesn’t work, turn o the receiver unit, and then turn it on.
• If the T/R light isn’t blinking green on the receiver, check to make sure it is set to the same frequency
as the transmitter. If the F1/F2 light on the transmitter and light 3 on the receiver are dierent colors,
change DIP-switch 2 on either the transmitter or the receiver to correct the problem.
• If no lights are on or blinking, check to make sure the power adapter is plugged in securely to the unit.
