Step division option
All changes of position of jumpers in XP5 must be performed with
power OFF.
Protection against power section overheating – Microchip TB6560 has
inbuilt temperature sensor. When it is 170°С the driver turns off. It will
be on as soon as the temperature drops to ~150°С.
When the protection function operates, the driver switches off stepper
motor coils, red signal ERR flashes on (STEP/DIR indicators will keep
signaling about coming signals to the inputs). The driver restores its
work after alarm cause removal and switching off/on power supply.
Indication:
LED 1 (green.) - timing signal indicator (STEP).
LED 2 (yellow.) - changing of direction indicator (DIR).
LED 3 (green) - signal indicator ENABLE.
LED 4 (red.) - driver alarm indicator (ERROR).
In some cases by interturn short-circuit of stepper motor coil, short-
circuit protection may not work because there is no exceeding of
permissible alarm current. This happens because under such coil
short circuit resistance does not equal 0 and the driver maintains the
specified current.
The driver allows to divide electronically physical stepper motor step -
1, 2, 8 and 16.
Thus positioning accuracy is higher. Step division mode is called
microstep mode. This mode allows to reduce stepper motor resonances
at low revs.
It is recommended to use PLD331 driver in step division 1:8 and higher.
In these modes stepper motor rotates as smooth as possible, low-
frequency vibrations are minimal.
Switching step division mode is carried out in XP5 connector with
jumpers 1 and 2.
Power off device before making step division option.
