6 Remove 2 phillips screws securing battery tray.
7 Unplug battery connector by pulling connector apart.
8 Discharge static charges by pressing on/off button for 3
seconds.
9 Slide out battery tray, taking care to keep battery
interconnect wires from catching on case. Be careful,
batteries are heavy.
10 Place tray on flat surface.
11 Remove 4 tray cover screws.
12 Place replacement batteries in position alongside.
13 Place new batteries in same relative position as
batteries in the tray.
14 Remove leads from spade terminals on furthest
battery. Remove battery and replace with new battery.
Re-attach leads. Continue with all batteries.
15 Reverse removal procedure to complete process.
Test the new batteries:
Plug unit in. Turn on. When display reads “normal” press
and hold the on/off button momentarily (1 sec,) to initiate
a self test. If the batteries are functioning normally the
unit will switch to battery for 10 seconds. If the display
indicates an error, check all battery wiring connections.
Call PurePower tech support if the problem persists.
Recycling Used Batteries:
Contact your local recycling center for information on the
proper disposal of the used batteries.

WARNING: Do not remove case lid. Components inside
case can hold charges even with the battery and input
power cord disconnected.
Batteries can present a risk of electrical shocks or burn
from high short circuit current. Do not attempt to alter any
battery wiring or connectors.
The following precautions should be observed:
> Remove watches, rings or other metal objects.
> Use tools with insulated handles.
> Do not lay tools or metal parts on top of batteries..
Acceptable replacement batteries (F2 connectors should be specified):
China Storage Battery
CSB UPS12540 (acceptable)
CSB HR1234W (preferred)
CSB HRL1234W (premium)
GS Yuasa battery
GS battery PE12V7.2 (acceptable)
GS battery PX12090 (preferred)
GS battery PXL12072 (premium)
There are also other manufacturers who make suitable replacements
including Panasonic, Enerwatt, Sterling, etc. If you look to
manufacturers other than the two listed above, make sure that you
specify the batteries should be the "High Rate Discharge" model
rather than a regular "stand-by" model.
