About AUDIT-BUDDY Gen 2 - “WIFI-BUDDY”
What is a WIFI-BUDDY/ AUDIT-BUDDY?
The AUDIT-BUDDY is a portable temperature and humidity monitor that records
real-time and long-term scans of the data center environment. Users can either stream
or directly download data. The wireless streaming version of AUDIT-BUDDY is referred
to as the WIFI-BUDDY.
The WIFI-BUDDY system consists of:
● 3 Temperature and Humidity (TH1) Modules
● 1 Carbon Fiber Rod with a weighted base
● 3 Wi-Fi Adapters
● 1 Router
● WIFI-MATE 2.0 program
How it Works
AUDIT-BUDDY™ 2.0 uses a private router and Wi-Fi adapters to stream real time and
long term trend data to a PC.
What is a WI-FI Module?
A WI-FI Module consists of attaching Purkay Labs’ Wi-Fi adapter to the TH1 Module.
You can remove the wireless connection by disconnecting the Wi-Fi adapter.
Wi-Fi Adapter Security
The Wi-Fi Adapter uses:
● Industry standard 802.11 b/g/n 2.4 GHz WiFi
● Encrypted secure Wi-Fi authentication via WEP, WPA-PSK (TKIP) and (WPA2-
PSK (AES)
● FCC Certified for FCC Part 15B

Stand Placement
IMPORTANT: Let AUDIT-BUDDY system acclimate for at least 10
minutes before starting scan
The Carbon fiber rod base is designed to be placed as close as 1” away from the server
front. Position the Carbon fiber rod as that the TH1 Module fan is pointed closest to the
server intake. Point the fan on the bottom right of the module closest to the point of
interest.
Scan Modes
The AUDIT-BUDDY system has three built-in scan modes: QuickScan,LongScan, and
Delta-T mode.

Best Practices
Always check the TH1 Module + WI-FI adapter battery strength
before scanning as the WI-FI set up consumes a lot of battery. You

can do so during the set-up process in the WIFI-MATE program.
● During the set-up process, confirm battery strength before starting scan.
● DO NOT turn on adapters until you need to
● Turn adapters off after the scan
● For scans above 12 hours, use a fresh set of batteries or use the 100-240 VAC
Power Brick adapter.
Factory Configured WIFI-BUDDY systems
All configurations of the Tablet and the Modules are performed in the factory. No
installation is necessary. Simply assemble the modules per the Quick Start guide and
the system is ready to collect Data. Skip to the start Scan section on Page 14.

Troubleshooting Communication
Scenario 1: The Green LED Light does not Appear
If the Green LED does not come on, try pressing the black button on and off again.
Repeat at least two times.
www.purkaylabs.com Page 8

WIFI-BUDDY User Manual
Scenario 1: The Green LED Light does not Repeatedly Appear
If the Green LED still does not come on after multiple attempts, the factory stored
configuration within the adapter has been lost. Please contact Purkay Labs for
assistance.
WI-FI Adapter Battery
Always check battery strength before scanning as the wi-fi set-up
consumes a lot of battery.
● Check the battery strength on the TH1 Module and adapter before starting scan
● DO NOT turn on adapters until scan has started
● Turn adapters off after the scan
● For scans above 12 hours, use a fresh set of batteries or use the 100-240 VAC
Power Brick adapter.
How to Extend Battery Life
Purkay Labs provides a power brick to use for multiple hours.
WIFI-MATE Program Installation
How to Install AUDIT-MATE Program

2. Register the Program
3. Enter in Product Key
a. Please contact Purkay Labs if you do not have the product key. You will
need to have the Product Number Available
4. Program has been installed successfully
Wireless Network Connection
Purkay Labs supplies a pre-configured router with all the adapters configured to the
work with the router for a dedicated private network. In this scheme, the WIFI-BUDDY
uses a private, static IP address to connect the adapters to the PC.
What is an IP Address?
An IP address is a unique number assigned to every device on a TCP/IP network. Just
like your physical home address lets people know where to send your birthday card, IP
addresses identify computers and devices and lets them communicate with each other.
About Static IP Configuration
A static IP address is an IP address that was manually configured for a device instead
of one that was assigned by a DHCP server. It's called static because it doesn't change
vs. a dynamic IP address, which does change
Once your device is assigned a static IP address, that number typically stays the same
until the device is decommissioned or your network architecture changes.

Can I connect to my Facility Network?
Yes, you can connect to the Facility Network using a Dynamic IP Configuration. Please
note that Purkay Labs recommends using the Static IP configuration.
To use the Dynamic IP Configuration, you need:
- Security and IT Clearance
- May need to re-configure adapters with USB cable before each scan if routers or
PC are turned off between scans
- Can connect 802.11 b/g/n 2.4 GHz WiFi
-WI-FI adapters connect to 802.11 A networks
