TABLE OF CONTENTS

THANK YOU
for Choosing QPS!
Congratulations on your purchase of the Que! Fire CD-ReWritable

understand the capability of your new drive as well as a step-by-step
explanation of how to install your hardware and software.

CONGRATULATIONS!

CHAPTER ONE
WELCOME TO THE CD-RECORDING WORLD!
If you’re new to CD-Recording, don’t worry; it’s easy to learn. The Que! Fire
Drive allows you to store massive amounts of data on one CD. You can fit as
much data found on 450 floppies on one CD-R or CD-RW media. Plus, it allows
you to record audio, and audio/video applications.
In this chapter, we’ll tell you more about the features and uses of CD-Recording
technology.
THE IEEE 1394/FIREWIRE INTERFACE
IEEE 1394 is an industry standard serial communications interface protocol as
published by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers. It is designed
to provide a high level of connectivity and ease of use between consumer
electronic devices and personal computers and between computers and their
peripherals. IEEE 1394 is commonly referred to as the FireWire interface.
IEEE 1394 / FireWire has high volume, high speed capabilities, it is currently able
to provide up to 400 Mbits per second data transfer rate, and will be capable of
greater speeds in the future. It allows up to 63 devices to be linked together
without termination at the end of the bus and does not require address IDs to be
set on the peripheral devices. The IEEE 1394 / FireWire interface allows more than
one computer to be connected to the same peripheral and it does not matter
which operating system the different computers are running.
Most devices have two connectors so you can daisy chain up to 17 devices
serially. However some devices have three ports so you can also branch out up
to 63 devices.

combine tracks from different artists or labels onto your own CD.
3. Copy or create data CDs that can be read on any CD-ROM or DVD-ROM
Drive.

CHAPTER TWO
GETTING STARTED!
Before you start using your Que! Fire Drive, you'll want to make sure you have
everything you need. In this chapter, we'll tell you what comes in the package,
so you can make sure it's all there.
In this chapter we'll tell you about the minimum requirements your system
needs to support the Que! Fire Drive.
Once you are sure you have everything you need, you can proceed to the next
chapter, where we'll show you how to install your hardware and software.
The section on hardware installation explains how to connect the Que! Fire CD-
ReWritable/Recordable Drive to your computer. The software installation section
briefly discusses the procedures for installing each of the software applications
that were provided with your drive.
As with anything you buy, there are always a few simple guidelines to observe
when using the product. With CD-Recording products, this primarily involves the
care and handling of media. These guidelines are provided in the chapter follow-
ing installation.
The last chapter, Troubleshooting Guideline, is provided for the few folks who
want to know more about how the Que! Fire Drive works, or who had difficulty
with installation. Refer to this chapter before contacting Technical Support —
the answer to your questions just might be here!
