SAFETY, OPERATORS, MAINTENANCE AND PARTS MANUAL
This safety symbol indicates important safety
messages in this manual. When you see this

3.1 OPERATINGINSTRUCTIONS
• Ensure that the instructions in this book
arereadandfullyunderstood.
• Nopersonshouldbeallowedtooperate
this machine unless they are fully
acquainted with all the controls and the
safetyprocedures.
• Neverallowchildrenorpeopleunfamiliar
with these instructions to use this
machine. Local regulations may restrict
theage oftheoperator.
3.2 SAFETYSIGNS
• It is essential all safety labels are kept
legible, if they are missing or illegible they
must be replaced. If any part of the
machine is replaced and it originally
carried a safety label, a new label must be
affixedtothereplacementpart. New
safetylabelsareobtainablefrom
Ransomesdealers.
3.3 STARTINGTHEENGINE
• Before starting the engine check that the
brakesareapplied,drivesareinneutral,
guards are in position and intact, and
bystandersareclearofthe machine.
• Do not run the engine in a building without
adequateventilation.
3.4 DRIVINGTHEMACHINE
• Beforemovingthe machine,checkto
ensure that all parts are in good working
order,payingparticularattentionto
brakes, tyres, steering and the security of
cuttingblades.
• Replace faulty silencers, mow only in
daylightorgoodartificiallight
• AlwaysobservetheHighwayCodebothon
andofftheroads.Keep alert and aware at
all times. Watch out for traffic when
crossingornearroadways.
• Stopthebladesrotatingbeforecrossing
surfacesotherthan grass.
• Remember that some people are deaf
or blind and that children and animals
can be unpredictable.
• Keeptravellingspeedslowenoughforan
emergencystoptobeeffectiveandsafe
at all times, in any conditions.
• Removeoravoidobstructionsinthearea
to be cut, thus reducing the possibility of
injurytoyourself and/orbystanders.
• Whenreversing,take special care to
ensure that the area behind is clear of
obstructionsand/or bystanders. DO
NOTcarrypassengers.
• Keep in mind that the operator or user is
responsibleforaccidentsorhazards
occurringto otherpeopleor their
property.
• When the machine is to be parked,
storedorleftunattended,lowerthe
cutting means unless the transport locks
arebeingused.
• Whilemowing,alwayswearsubstantial
footwearandlong trousers. Do not
operatetheequipmentwhenbarefootor
wearingopensandals.
• Checkthegrass catcher frequentlyfor
wearordeterioration. Afterstrikinga
foreign object. Inspect the lawnmower
fordamageandmakerepairsbefore
restartingandoperatingtheequipment.
• Ifthemachinestartstovibrate
abnormally,checkimmediately.
3.5 TRANSPORTING
• Ensure that the cutting units are
securelyfastenedinthe transport
position. Do not transport with cutting
mechanismrotating.
• Drivethemachinewithdueconsideration
ofroadand surfaceconditions,inclines
andlocalundulations.
• Suddendeceleratingorbrakingcan
cause the rear wheels to lift.
• Remember that the stability of the rear of
the machine is reduced as the fuel is
used.
