1. UnpacktheRedLionunitandverifythefollowingcomponentsare
enclosedfortheRAM‐6000Router:
RAM‐6xxx:ACadaptrewitheitherbarrelconnec‐
tor(AC)orMolex(MX),or15ftMolexcable(DC)
canbeorderedinakit(ieRAM‐6600‐xx‐ACor‐
MX)ororderedspearately.(RAM‐6400notavail‐
able)
RAM‐6x01‐4:pinplugwithscrewterminalsto
connecttoanexternalDCpowersource.Available
wthACadaperwithbarrelconnector(AC).
RAM‐6x21‐4:pinplugwithscrewterminalsto
connecttoanexternalDCpowersource.Available
withACadapterwithbarrelconnector(AC).
Antennassoldseparately.
2. Contactyourcellularprovider(carrier)andrequestadataaccount.
ForCDMAmodels(RAM‐66xx),givetheESNnumberoftherouter
tothecarriertoactivatethedataaccount.ForGSMandHSPA
models(RAM‐64xx&SN‐68xx)thecarriershouldprovideyouwith
aSIMcardtoinsertintotherouter,alongwiththeAPN,username
&passwordfordataconnectivity.
3. InserttheSIMcard(GSMandHSPAmodelsonly):
•LocatetheSIMslotontherightsideoftheunit.
•Insertthecardwithitscutsidefacingforwardandontheleft.
•Usingthetipofapen,pushitinuntilitclicks.
4. AnantennawithanSMAconnectorshouldbeconnectedtothe
router.Thisantennashouldmeetthefollowingspecifications:
•DualBand800&1900MHZ
•Nominal50ohmimpedance
•VoltageStandingWaveRatio(VSWR)lessthan2.5:1
5. Thereare4methodstoprovidepowertotherouter:
•4‐pinMolexconnector‐availableonRAM‐6x00
•4‐pinscrewterminal‐availableonRAM‐6xx1/EB
•Sidemounted2.5mmbarrelconnector‐allmodels
•Power‐over‐Ethernet‐availableonRAM‐6x01EB
Themodemrequiresapowersourcebetween8and30VDCto
operate.
6. Pleaseallow2‐4minutesfortheunittorecognizethecellulardata
cardandconnecttothecellularnetwork.Whenthishasoccured,
theSignalStrengthLEDsshouldlightup(seetableonback).Ifsig‐
nalstrengthisnotlitorflashesslowly,pleaserefertotheUser
