Dear user,
We are pleased that you have chosen a Rehatec® GmbH top quality product and thank you for your trust.
This guide should help you to familiarise yourself with your Nele therapy chair and show you its quick and
easy operation for everyday use with various options. You only need to nalise your personal settings on
your therapy chair and you are all set to go. Then you can enjoy its use for a long time.
Please note that illustrations and instructions in this manual may vary due to the individual outtting possi-
bilities of your product.
We reserve the right to make technical changes and improvements. This manual was created with great care.
Nevertheless, errors cannot be completely ruled out. Rehatec® GmbH assumes no responsibility in this case.

Please read these instructions carefully before starting to use your new Nele therapy chair. People with
disabilities, whether sensory or cognitive impairment, or learning disability, should have these instructions
explained, so that they can be understood.
This could be done by reading it to the user, using simpler wording or with additional explanation by a third
party.
The user must have read and understood all of the operating instructions.
So that the user’s safety is not endangered, attendants should not have any impairments, which may tempo-
rarily or permanently restrict their attention and judgement.

1.1. Safety information
Please follow all precautions in this manual. Important functions may be aected by erroneous operation. All
safety and other regulations should always be observed both by the user, as well as the carer / supervisor.
General
DANGER The operation of the therapy chair may only be conducted by a trained user, who has read

and understood all of the instructions for use! The instructions have to be given by the supplier or care
provider!
DANGER The operator must not have any impairment, which temporarily or permanently limits their
attention and judgement!
DANGER Never leave the patient unattended. Constant supervision by an adult (carer) is required!
CAUTION Individual constraints and user capabilities should always be taken into account!
WARNING The maximum permissible load must not be exceeded. (see chapter “5 Technical Data”)!
WARNING The therapy chair is only approved for the use of one person!
DANGER The user must be adequately harnessed / secured against falling out, without restricting his
comfort!
WARNING Surfaces can get very warm when exposed to heat - heating above 40°C can cause burns! To
protect the user from burns, keep away from heat sources (e.g. stoves) and strong sunlight!
DANGER The therapy chair should only be subject to loading at the seat, back and foot areas - exces-
sive loading due to improper handling (for example, by attaching any objects, propping up or leaning
etc.) can lead to overturning!
DANGER At extreme settings and unfavourable posture (e.g. leaning out too far) there is an increased
risk of tipping over ! Therefore, it is very important that the patient is securely harnessed in the therapy
chair!
CAUTION When sitting down and standing up, do not overload the foot board - danger of tipping!
CAUTION Please note carefully all additional safety information on specic points under “4. Device
Settings”!
WARNING The device should never be carried or transported with the user in it!
CAUTION When the device is transported or stored, all pluggable and loose parts should be packed
separately. Only then can you be sure that the product and parts are protected from external exposure!
CAUTION Keep all plastic packing foils away from children - otherwise there is a danger of suocation!

Adjustments / Functions
CAUTION No user should be in the device, whenever repairs or adjustments are carried out!
CAUTION Every time before use, all settings must be properly made according to the patient's needs. Before
use, check that all components are securely attached!
CAUTION Check all settings at regular intervals. Check that all screws are tight and control the wheels regu-
larly!
CAUTION When making adjustments, never use force, as this may result in defects and damage to the
device due to improper handling!
WARNING Any combinations of the therapy chair with unauthorised third-party products can be danger-
ous. The manufacturer assumes no liability for damage and complications due to such combinations!
WARNING No electrical components on the device may be opened or changed without the permission of
the manufacturer!
WARNING On discovery of defects, damage or modications, the therapy chair should not be used and
withdrawn from service!
WARNING The device may not be further used, if irregularities occur in the electrical drive!
DANGER The device may not be further used, if unusual smells or noises occur during charging or operation
of the the electrical drive. The device must be withdrawn from service!
CAUTION Repair and inspection work may only be carried out by Rehatec® GmbH and by authorized deal-
ers/carers!
CAUTION Take care to avoid jamming and crushing when carrying out repairs and adjustments!
CAUTION Maximum adjustment stages should not be exceeded. Ensure parts are securely attached!
CAUTION Carry out maintenance at the prescribed intervals (See Chapter“2.4.3 Maintenance intervals")

1. Safety
Environment /Operation
WARNING Only for operation in conned spaces!
WARNING The use of the therapy chair is only possible at an ambient temperature of 15°C to 35°C!.
WARNING The therapy chair must not be used in wet areas, outdoors or in a high humidity environment!
CAUTION Protect the therapy chair against wetness!
DANGER Only use the therapy chair on rm, even and level surfaces!
CAUTION Only store the therapy chair indoors at an ambient temperature of 10° bis 50°C!
WARNING When stationary, the therapy chair should be secured against rolling by applying all parking
brakes!
WARNING Be aware that there is a danger of tipping and slipping when the oor surface structure changes
(carpet, stone oor / tiles, wooden ooring, etc.)!
WARNING Restricted manoeuvrability on soft surfaces such as carpeting can lead to an increased risk of
overturning!
DANGER Only push up a sloping angular surface without the user on board!
CAUTION If in contact with moisture, the therapy chair should not be used. Dry immediately after contact with
moisture (e.g. with an absorbent cloth)!
CAUTION If the device is used in combination with an electrical drive, it must not be cleaned with a high-pres-
sure or steam cleaner!
DANGER Electrical components should not be dipped into water!
DANGER To avoid risk of re, never use the appliance near or in connection with ammable materials and
objects which could cause re.!
CAUTION Upholstery, wood and plastic parts on the unit are not reliably ame retardant. They are combus-
tible through e.g. smoking utensils, ovens, stoves, replaces and other space heaters.
DANGER Additional utensils on the therapy chair e.g. towels, pillows, blankets, paper and magazines, toys,
etc., can increase the risk of re!
DANGER Never use the therapy chair as a climbing aid!
DANGER Playing children should not use the therapy chair to pull themselves up! Signicantly increased danger
of tipping!
CAUTION When adjusting the seating height, take care that the seat unit, foot bench or other parts do not
collide with the chassis or ground! Height adjustments (gas spring, hydraulic, electrical) do not have a safety stop,
therefore any accessories should be removed beforehand.!
CAUTION The use of the electrical drive is only permitted in indoor areas!
DANGER Keep playing children away from all electronic components!
DANGER Ensure that no-one can injure or strangle himself on any cable!

2.1. Specific function / Area of application
Specic function
The Nele therapy chair is designed for patients with a sitting disability to provide the best possible physio-
logical sitting position and maintain a stabilised sitting position, enabling the attainment of positive eects
of a seated body position.
Area of application
The Nele therapy chair was designed to support therapeutic processes . The Nele therapy chair is variously
adjustable and adaptable, designed for children and adolescents, up to adult age. Its use applies to general
spheres of life, care as well as domestic use. Due to its innovative design, it oers patients a wide range of
adjustment possibilities and therefore a high degree of positional comfort.
This medical device is designed for operation in closed rooms at ambient temperatures between 15°C and
35°C. Use in wet areas is not permitted. Likewise, the equipment should be kept away from heat sources and
strong sunlight - risk of burns! Failure to do this can result in considerable damage and endanger both the
user and the helper.
To ensure safe and successful operation for users of equipment made by Rehatec® GmbH, all the notices,
cautionary measures and advice in this handbook should be followed exactly.
Rehatec® GmbH gives no guarantee as to the suitability of the product for specic therapeutic and diagnos-
tic purposes. The operator (user / caregiver) determines appropriate use.
User groups: operators, suppliers/caregivers and patients
The user does not have to have any specialist abilities, but must be instructed about the correct
handling of the device. Instructions are given by the relevant supplier/caregiver. The supplier/car-
egiver must be able to show proof of instruction on the product in question. The individual capabil-
ities and limitations of the user must always be taken into account.
Patients should not be left unattended!
Indications
Impairment of sitting due to functional and / or structural damage to, or of, the trunk and possibly neck mus-
cles (e.g. due to neurological / neuromuscular diseases, deformities of the spine) with poor posture such as:
Muscular dystrophy or atrophy, cerebral movement disorders, multiple sclerosis, myelodysplasia,
various syndromes with paralysis / signicant loss of strength or severe malformations of the trunk
muscles and or extremities, hip or knee joint stiening and / or severe movement restrictions

Contraindications
Before supplying the therapy chair, a doctor should clarify whether there are any contraindications. The indications
of the care must be accompanied or monitored at regular intervals by a doctor or therapist. In general: any kind of
pain is a contraindication! Active and / or passive use of the device must be explicitly claried with the doctor in
charge or therapist for the following conditions and / or symptoms:
Users with non-intact skin; with severe tone dysregulation. The device is not suitable for scoliosis patients.
This therapy chair does not correct bad posture and is also not suitable for steering growth!
2.2. Responsibility
The operator is responsible for the proper use, as well as regular maintenance (see Chapter "2.4.3. Mainte-
nance intervals") and care of the product.
The operators/caregivers are responsible for adhering to the annual maintenance intervals!
Product modications, repairs, maintenance and enhancements may be performed only by operators/car-
egivers. Only original spare parts and accessories may be used.
Any serious occurrences in connection with this product must be notied to the manufacturer and responsi-
ble authorities. The responsible authority in Germany is the BfArM.
Rehatec® GmbH only provides a warranty when the product is used under the conditions specied and for
the intended purpose!
2.3. Declaration of conformity
The corresponding Declaration of Conformity can be found at www.rehatec.com in the download section.
The CE mark must be removed if the Rehatec® product is rebuilt, changed or used in combination with unau-
thorised products from other manufacturers. The CE mark is also invalid if no original Rehatec® spare parts /
accessories are used.

2.4. Care and maintenance
The operator is responsible for the proper use, maintenance and care of the product.
2.4.1 Cleaning in private, domestic facilities
Do not use abrasive cleaners or cloths for cleaning.
• For cleaning the entire product, any conventional cleaning agent can be used. Note the safety and care infor-
mation on the respective cleaning product!
• The powder-coated base frame and chrome-plated parts can be cleaned with a soft, slightly damp cloth.
Dry thoroughly afterwards
• Upholstery should be cleaned with warm soapy water in a bath or sink and allowed to soak for approx one
hour. Rinse with clear water afterwards and hang up to dry.
• Loose covers can be washed with usual detergents to 40 °. For hygienic reasons we recommend using a so-
called hygiene rinse additive!

2.4.2. Maintenance
Never use a device that is not in perfect condition!
In the event of excessive wear or if worn product parts are not replaced, the safety of the product
may no longer be guaranteed!
Breakdowns, malfunctions or defects may only be repaired by the manufacturer or the operator /
service provider!
Do not make any changes to the product!
If you have any complaints or problems, please contact your service provider / operator!
Use only original spare parts / accessories or those approved by Rehatec® GmbH!
Before each use
Please check the following functions before each use:
• All connecting parts and components required for operation You can lubricate moving parts / mechanisms
with a Teon spray (dry lubricant) and wipe o residual excess with a soft cloth.
• The function of the brakes.
During use
• It is important that all components are undamaged during use. You should therefore check them regularly
and have them repaired or replaced if necessary.
The Nele therapy chair must be serviced every 12 months, bearing in mind any earlier maintenance
intervals according to the following servicing plan!

(1) Some screw connections are secured with thread-locking compound. If loose, they must be secured again with adhesive! Use high-strength locking
compound.
2.4.4 Servicing plan
Inspections are to be carried out by the operator / service provider and documented on a copy. This
document is associated with the device and serves as evidence in the event of re-use and when claiming
warranty services. Please keep together with the instructions for use.

2.5. Re-use
2.5.1. Re-use and preparation
The supplier/caregiver is responsible for re-use and having it prepared for re-use.
The Nele therapy chair is suitable for re-use. Products being re-used are subject to particular strain.
When re-using the product, it is important that all documentation belonging to the device is passed to the
next user / persons / carers.
The product must undergo a thorough inspection before it is used again in accordance with the
inspection plan and cleaned according to the following reprocessing instructions:
Important information on reprocessing:
• Do not use any abrasive agents or cloths for reprocessing
• The powder-coated base frame and the chrome-plated attachments must be cleaned with a CE-certied
disinfectant. Then dry the parts thoroughly. Alternatively, disinfection can also be carried out in a certied
cold misting system.
• For reasons of hygiene, foam parts should be replaced when they are used again! Alternatively, the foam
(with the exception of any glued foam) can be processed by an external service provider using a special,
certied process.
• The covers must be washed at 40 degrees with a CE-certied disinfecting detergent
Life span
The service life of the product resulting from the risk assessment is 7 years.
2.5.2. Disposal
The product must not be disposed of with household waste.
Proper disposal of the Nele therapy chair must be carried out. Please contact your dealer.
Packaging materials should be separated according to the type of waste and placed in the appropriate waste
containers according to local recycling procedures. This may be dierent from town to town. Please contact
your local waste disposal authority, if necessary. Observe the disposal regulations of your country.

2.6. Warranty and service
Warranty refers to defects of the product that are proved to be material or manufacturing defects.
For the Nele therapy chair, we oer a warranty of 3 years on the frame parts. Any such defects will be cor-
rected free of charge by Rehatec® GmbH. Excluded from the warranty are upholstery, wooden parts, fabric,
castors, gas springs, Bowden cables and segmented parts.
Rehatec® GmbH can give no further warranty or liability for damage resulting from:
• Non-original or replacement parts and accessories not approved by Rehatec® GmbH
• Fair wear and tear or excessive strain
• Non-intended use or violent damage
• Accident damage
• Modication or repairs carried out on the product by untrained persons or persons (operator/supplier) not
authorised by Rehatec® GmbH
2.6.1. Warranty conditions
• Complaints must be in writing
• Warranty does not apply to structural modications made without the written permission of Rehatec®
GmbH
• Defective or replaced parts are the property of Rehatec® GmbH
• The warranty does not cover accident damage
• The warranty only applies to new equipment
2.6.2. Service /complaints
Rehatec® GmbH is at your service for complaints, inquiries and for more information, ordering accessories
and additional equipment for retrot.
