We are pleased that you have chosen a high-quality product from Rehatec® GmbH and thank you for your
trust.
These instructions are intended to help you familiarise yourself with your Pauli activity chair, hereinafter
referred to as activity chair, and show you how to easily and quickly use it for daily functions. Firstly, adjust
your activity chair optimally and you are ready to go. Enjoy using the activity chair then.
Please note that the illustrations and information in these operating instructions may dier from your
product due to the individual equipment options. We reserve the right to make technical changes and
improvements. These operating instructions have been prepared with the greatest care. Nevertheless, errors
cannot be completely ruled out.

In these instructions, you will nd information and procedures on setting up, commissioning, operating,
using, maintaining, inspecting, caring for and reusing the activity chairs, as well as important safety
instructions and restrictions on use for the protection of the patient, the user and third parties.
Read these instructions carefully before using your new activity chair for the rst time. People with
disabilities, be it sensory impairments, cognitive impairments or learning disabilities, can have the
instructions for use explained if necessary to make them easier to understand. This can be done, for example,
by reading it aloud and translating it into easier language or by having additional explanations provided by
third parties.
The user must have read and understood the complete instructions for use.
In order not to compromise the safety of the patient, the user must not have any impairments that
temporarily or permanently limit attention and judgement.
Keep the instruction manual handy for later use and ensure that it remains with the product even if it is

1. Safety
1.1 Warnings
Warnings dier according to the hazard by the following signal words:
• CAUTION Warning of demage to property!
• WARNING Warning of bodily injury!
• DANGER Warning of danger to life!
The structure of the warning/information notice is as follows:

Type and source of the hazard! Measures to avoid the hazard.
IMPORTANT
The hint symbol indicates useful tips for easier operation and better understanding.
1.2 Safety instructions
In this chapter you will nd the summary of all safety instructions that you must always observe for your own
protection and for the protection of third parties.
Please follow all instructions in this manual carefully. Incorrect operation can negatively impact important
appliance functions.
All safety instructions and other regulations must be observed by both the patient and the user at all times.
Failure to follow these instructions may result in injury or damage to property.
DANGER The activity chair may only be used by a user who has read and understood the complete
instructions for use. The instruction must be given by the operator/care provider!
DANGER The user must not have any impairments that temporarily or permanently limit attention and
judgement!
DANGER The patient must never be left unattended. Constant supervision by a user is required.
DANGER Never carry or transport the unit together with the patient (e.g. in a car, train, etc.).
DANGER Extreme settings and unfavourable body posture (e.g. leaning out too far) increase the risk of
tipping over.
DANGER Danger of suocation. Any packaging lms must be kept away from children at all times.
DANGER The unit can only be used on a horizontal, hard, level and non-slip surface.
DANGER Before use, inspect the activity chair for cracks or external damage to the wood.
DANGER When using the activity chair, all components, wing screws or star knobs must be rmly
tightened.
DANGER If the wood is damaged, the activity chair is no longer safe and must not be used. Increased
risk of injury to patient and user.
DANGER In the event of defects, damage or modications, the unit must not be used and must be
made available for any future use.

DANGER Never use the unit inside a means of transport (bus, train, ship, plane, etc.).
DANGER Fire hazard. Never use or store the unit near or in connection with ammable substances and
re-causing objects, devices and appliances.
DANGER Maintenance, cleaning, repair and adjustment work may only be carried out when the activity
chair us unoccupied.
DANGER Danger of tipping. Prevent children from climbing on the activity chair.
DANGER Before each use and after each adjustment, check that all accessories are securely fastened.
DANGER The activity chair contains small parts (set screws, wing screws, plugs), which can be swallowed
by small children or mentally impaired patients! Always make sure that small parts do not come loose.
DANGER The individual limitations and abilities of the patient must always be taken into account when
using the activity chair.
DANGER When cleaning and disinfecting, pay attention to the residues of agents used in order to avoid
poisoning, irritation and allergic reactions.
DANGER Never use the unit as a transport aid, even within a building between rooms.
DANGER The patient may hit his feet against a table, the wall or other furniture. Increased danger of
tipping sideways or backwards.
DANGER The activity chair must not be used as a ladder.
WARNING Any combinations of the activity chair with third-party products are generally not permitted
and can be dangerous. The manufacturer accepts no liability for damage and/or complications resulting
from such combinations.
WARNING The maximum permissible load must not be exceeded (see chapter "Technical data").
DANGER The service life depends on the conditions and frequency of use. With proper use and
application, this activity chair has an expected service life that must not be exceeded.
WARNING Do not use the activity chair if it comes into contact with moisture. Dry immediately.
WARNING The unit is only suitable for operation inside.
WARNING Additional utensils on the appliance, e.g. cloths, cushions, blankets, paper and magazines,
toys, etc. can increase any re hazard.
WARNING The unit must always be secured against rolling away by engaging the parking brakes
(optional).
WARNING Maximum adjustment ranges must not be exceeded. It must be possible to ensure a secure
connection of the parts.
WARNING Before each use of the unit, all adjustments must be made to suit the patient.
DANGER A possible risk of tipping and slipping due to a change in the surface condition (wooden,
carpeted, stone oor and tiles, etc.) must be taken into account.

1. Safety
DANGER Changes and repairs on the activity chair may only be carried out by authorised specialists.
WARNING Danger of burns! The surfaces of the appliance can heat up due to heat input (e.g. stoves,
sunlight)! Heating of the surfaces of over 40 °C is possible.
WARNING The activity chair must not be used in wet areas (bathrooms, swimming pools, etc.), used or
stored outdoors or in the environment with high humidity.
WARNING The device is made of natural raw materials and must therefore not be cleaned with a high-
pressure or steam cleaner.
WARNING The activity chair may only be used by one person at a time. Make sure that the patient is
suciently secured/xed against falling out (optional) without limiting comfort.
WARNING If manoeuvrability is limited on soft ground, e.g. on carpeted oors, there is an increased risk
of tipping over.
WARNING Additional safety instructions of specic points under "Operation/adjustment of the unit and
accessories" must be strictly observed.
WARNING During all repair and adjustment work, attention must be paid to the danger of pinching and
crushing.
WARNING When adjusting up or down, do not put excessive weight on the footplate. There is then an
increased risk of tipping and breakage.
WARNING The unit is not suitable for transport between rooms! If necessary, door thresholds must be
equipped with xed ramps.
CAUTION The unit must be protected from moisture! Damp stains must be wiped dry immediately.
CAUTION The unit may only be stored indoors at an ambient temperature of 15 °C to 35 °C and
humidity of 40% to 60%.
CAUTION It is essential that the device is kept away from replaces, smoking utensils, cookers and other
room heaters!
CAUTION All adjustments must be checked at regular intervals.
All screw connections must be checked for tightness and wheels (optional) must be checked regularly.
CAUTION Repair and inspection work may only be carried out by operators/ care providers.
CAUTION Maintenance must be carried out at the prescribed intervals by the operator/service provider
(for information on the maintenance interval, see chapter "Maintenance").

CAUTION Never use force during adjustment work, as improper handling can cause damage to the unit.
CAUTION For transporting or storing the device, removable and unattached parts should be packed
separately. This is the only way to ensure that the product and parts are protected from external
inuences.

3. General information
3.1 Explanation of terms
Operator
Operator (e.g. therapy houses, rehabilitation centres, physiotherapy centres, specialist dealers, health
insurance companies) is any natural or legal person who uses the activity chair or on whose behalf the
activity chair is used.
The operator is responsible for the proper instruction of the operating and technical personnel.
User
Users (e.g. therapist, attendant or assistant) are persons who, due to their training, experience or instruction,
are authorised to operate the activity chair and to carry out therapeutic work on it. Furthermore, the user
can recognise and avoid possible hazards and assess the patient's physical abilities and state of health. it is
essential that users are instructed in the use of the activity chair.
Specialist sta
Qualied personnel are employees of the operator who, due to their training or instruction, are authorised
to transport, adjust and maintain the activity chair. Furthermore, they are instructed in the regulations for
carrying out inspections, cleaning and disinfection.
Patient
In these instructions for use, a patient is dened as a disabled person who uses the activity chair to achieve a
proper sitting position.
3.2 Purpose / scope of application
Purpose/therapeutic benet
The Pauli activity chair is designed for patients with impaired sitting to maintain the most physiologically
correct sitting position possible for a few hours a day and to ensure a stable sitting position, thus achieving
the positive eects from a seated body position.
Scope of application
The Pauli activity chair was designed to support therapeutic processes. Pauli is a fully adjustable activity chair
with built-in growth options and designed for children and adolescents. It is used in the general living area,
in the care area as well as in the home area. Due to its innovative design, it oers the patient highly individual
adjustment options and thus a maximum comfort positions.
In order to be able to guarantee the operator of Rehatec® GmbH devices safe and successful operation, all
notes, precautions and information in these instructions for use must be observed.
This medical device is designed for operation inside closed rooms at an ambient temperature between 15
°C and 35 °C. Use in wet areas is not permitted. The device must also be kept away from heat sources and
strong sunlight - risk of burns! Failure to observe this can lead to considerable damage and endanger both
the patient and the user.

3. General informationen
Rehatec® GmbH gives no guarantee regarding the suitability of this product for a specic therapeutic and
diagnostic purpose. The operator or therapist determines the appropriate use.
3.3 Indications, contraindications and risks
Indications
Impairment of sitting in the case of functional and/or structural damage to the trunk or the trunk and, if
applicable, neck musculature (e.g. due to neurological/neuromuscular diseases, deformities of the spinal
column) with incorrect postures such as, for example:
Muscular dystrophy or atrophy, cerebral movement disorders, multiple sclerosis, myelodysplasia, various
clinical diagnoses with paralysis / considerable reduction in strength or severe malformations of the trunk
muscles and / or extremities, hip or knee joint stiness and / or severe movement restrictions and other
clinical diagnoses.
Contraindications
Before tting the activity chair, a doctor should clarify whether there are any contraindications. The
indications for the tting must be accompanied or monitored by a doctor or therapist at regular intervals. In
general: any kind of pain or discomfort is a contraindication.
In the following circumstances and/or symptoms, the active and/or passive use of the activity chair must
be explicitly claried with the attending physician or therapist: patients with non-intact skin or with serious
tonus dysregulation. Use of the device in the case of scoliosis in clinical diagnosis of the patient only after
consultation with the attending physician.
This activity chair does not correct bad posture and is not suitable for growth management.
DANGER Any kind of pain is a contraindication.
Risiks
DANGER Never leave the patient unattended.
DANGER The individual abilities and limitations of the respective patient must always be taken into
account.
DANGER The user (e.g. therapist, attendant or assistant) does not need to have any special skills,
but must be instructed in the proper use of the device.
DANGER The activity chair may only be used by an instructed user who has read and understood
the complete instructions for use. Instruction must be provided by the operator/care provider.

3.4 Responsibility
The operator is responsible for:
• the intended use in accordance with the operating instructions and other information in these operating
instructions.
• the necessary regular inspection and maintenance of the activity chair (for information on the maintenance
interval, see chapter "Maintenance and inspection").
The user is responsible for:
• the necessary regular cleaning and care as well as inspection before each use of the activity chair (for
instructions on cleaning see chapter 7, for instructions on inspection see chapter 8).
DANGER Product modications, repairs, maintenance work must be carried out according to the
inspection plan and additions to the activity chair may only be carried out by authorised persons.
IMPORTANT Rehatec® GmbH only provides a warranty if the product is used under the specied
conditions for the intended purpose and only if the original accessories are used.
IMPORTANT All serious incidents that occur in connection with the product must be reported to the
manufacturer and the competent authority. The competent authority in Germany is the BfArM.
3.5 Intended use
The activity chair must not be used outdoors.
The activity chair must not be used indoors if:
• the humidity is more than 60%
• these belong to wet areas (showers, swimming pools, etc.)
• there is a risk of explosion or around ammable anaesthetic products.
DANGER! Intended use requires strict compliance with all instructions in this manual.
WARNING The patient's dimensions given in chapter "Technical data" must not be exceeded.
DANGER! Check the following points with the attending physician before using the device:
• Disease-specic use of the device (contraindications).
• Maximum time spent in the activity chair to prevent possible injuries
• Suitable belts and straps for safe positioning of the patient.
• Necessary accessories for correct and safe joint/body positioning
• Max. possible adjustable limits of accessories of the activity chair.
• Frequency of use of the activity chair/therapy plan.

3.6 Declaration of conformity
The corresponding declaration of conformity can be found at www.rehatec.com in the download area.
The CE mark must be removed if the Rehatec® product is converted, modied or used in combination with
unauthorised products from other manufacturers.
The CE mark also expires if original Rehatec® spare parts/accessories are not used.
3.7 Lifetime
Rehatec® GmbH guarantees a service life of 7 years for the activity chair Pauli if the maintenance and repair
intervals are observed and the chair is used as designed.
3.8 Service/complaint
Rehatec® GmbH will be happy to assist you with complaints, enquiries and further information or orders for
accessories and retrottable additional equipment.

The Pauli activity chair is usually delivered fully assembled and preset to the patient's dimensions by an
authorised medical supply dealer (operator). The Pauli activity chair is available in dierent sizes. You can nd
more information about size and maximum weight loads in the table shown in the chapter "Technical data".
The standard scope of delivery includes the following components:

4.2 Accessories
Accessories are parts or components that are not included in the base set-up equipment of your activity
chair.
It is recommended to order the necessary accessories with the initial order. However, you can also purchase
all accessories at a later date.

CAUTION When selecting and attaching accessories, care must be taken not to impair the mobility

5. Operation
5.1 Commissioning
Checking the settings and function
Before the patient can be positioned in the activity chair Pauli, the Pauli activity chair must be adjusted to the
needs of the patient.
The exact descriptions of individual adjustment possibilities to the patient's needs are given in the following
chapter.
In this step, all presets made by the manufacturer must rst be checked and all screw connections (possibly
loosened by the transport process) must be tightened.
The patient may only be positioned in the activity chair when all screw connections are xed and the height
adjustment(s) is (are) correctly fullled (see chapter "Operation/adjustment of unit and accessories").
The following should be noted here:
DANGER Before each use and after each adjustment, check that all accessories are securely
fastened.
DANGER The unit may only be used on a horizontal, hard, level and non-slip surface.
WARNING When carrying out any adjustments, be aware of the risk of pinching and crushing.
WARNING Before each use of the device, all individual adjustments must be made to t the patient.
WARNING If castors are present, they must be locked and checked for function before adjusting the
activity chair.
WARNING After commissioning, the activity chair must be subject to a basic cleaning as described
in chapter "Cleaning and disinfection".
DANGER The activity chair must be checked for cracks or damage to the wood before each use. If
the chair is damaged, it must not be used and made unavailable for future use.
CAUTION Maximum adjustment ranges must not be exceeded. It must be possible to guarantee a
secure connection of all parts.
CAUTION Never use force to adjust the activity chair. Improper handling can cause damage to the
chair.
CAUTION All adjustments must be checked at regular intervals. All screw connections must be
checked for tightness and wheels must be checked that they function properly.
DANGER The activity chair must not be adjusted during use. Exceptions to this rule are the angle of
the backrest and the armrest height.

6. Operating/adjusting the
activity chair and accessories
6.1 Backrest
Backrest angle
Do this procedure on both sides.
Loosen the wing screws [1] on both sides.
3 full turns are sucient for this.
Adjust the backrest [3] to the desired angle.
Retighten the wing screws [1].
For less friction before adjustment, loosen the cylinder screws [2] on
both sides. 2 to 3 full turns are sucient for this.
Tighten the cylinder screws [2] on both sides after adjustment.
WARNING When adjusting, be aware of the danger of pinching
and crushing.
DANGER Adjustment is only possible when the height of the
seat is xed. Tighten all screws again after each adjustment.
Height adjustment
Do this procedure on both sides.
Loosen the wing screws [1] on both sides.
2 to 3 full turns are sucient for this.
Loosen the cylinder screws [2] on both sides.
2 to 3 full turns are sucient for this.
Adjust the backrest [3] to the desired height.
Retighten the wing screws [1].
Retighten the cylinder screws [2] on both sides.
WARNING When adjusting, be aware of the danger of pinching
and crushing.
DANGER Adjustment is only possible when the height of the
seat is xed. Tighten all screws again after each adjustment.

6.2 Armrest
Loosen the wing screw [1].
2 to 3 full turns are sucient for this.
Move the armrest [2] to the desired height.
Tighten the wing screw [1] again.
Repeat the procedure for the second armrest.
WARNING When adjusting, be aware of the danger of pinching
and crushing.
6.3 Seat and foot unit
Height adjustment
DANGER Only make adjustments when the activity chair is
unoccupied. Increased risk of injury.
Loosen the wing screws [1] from both sides.
2 to 3 full turns are sucient for this.
Push the bolts [2] inwards at the same time and hold them in position.
Move the height [3] to the desired position.
Release the bolts [2] at the same time (the latching function engages
independently in the side holes).
Tighten the wing screws [1] again.
IMPORTANT The bolts must engage again (you hear a click). If
this is not the case- push the height adjustment slightly upwards
or downwards- until you hear a mechanical click.
WARNING When adjusting, be aware of the danger of pinching
and crushing.
Depth adjustment
Loosen the star knob [1].
2 to 3 full turns are sucient for this.
Slide the foot or seat [2] to the desired position.
Tighten the star knob rmly.
WARNING Only make adjustments when the activity chair is
unoccupied. Increased risk of injury.
There is a limit on the possible depth adjustment in both
directions.

Angle adjustment
DANGER Only make adjustments when the activity chair is
unoccupied. Increased risk of injury.
Turn the star knob [1] to the right or left to set the desired inclination.
CAUTION The angle adjustment is limited! As soon as an
increased resistance occurs, the end position is reached. When
the end position is reached, do not continue to turn with
increased force, as this will lead to increased wear and thus also
to a defect in the mechanism.
WARNING When adjusting, be aware of the danger of pinching
and crushing.
6.4 Bench - Kiga version (optional)
Attaching or removing the footplate
Attach the footplate [1] with the groove at an angle of approx. 30° to
the screw [2] (picture A).
Then let the footplate slide down and insert the groove at screw [3]
(picture B).
By pressing the footplate downwards and backwards, the footplate
locks into the nal position (picture C).
To remove the footplate, rst press it forward from behind (picture C).
Then lift the footplate at the front at a 30 degree angle and remove it
upwards with both hands.
IMPORTANT If the footplate does not engage with slight
pressure, lift it again at a 30 degree angle and reinsert it.
WARNING Attaching or removing the footplate should always
be done when the therapy chair is unoccupied. Increased risk
of injury.
WARNING When adjusting, be aware of the danger of pinching
and crushing.
6.5 Tray (optional)
The tray is designed and intended for occupational therapy exercises
and enables an extended position of the lower arms and thus
additional stabilisation of the upper body.
