starting
the
installation
of
your
Micropoise
tonearm,
remove
all
mounting
hardware
from
the
plastic
container.
SECTION
I
-
INSTALLING
THE
ARM
REST
The
arm
rest
is
required
to
pro-
vide
proper
arm
support
when
the
tonearm
is
not
in
use.
The
arm
rest
is
positioned
on
the
turntable
deck
so
that
the
tonearm
tube
(M)
rests
within
the
clip
located
at
the
top
of
the
arm
rest.
To
prevent
stylus
or
cartridge
damage,
the
tonearm
should
never
be
left
out
of
the
arm
rest
when
not
in
use.
The
Stereotables
B-12,
B-12H,
B-12GH,
N-33H,
and
N34-H,
have
a
predrilled
armrest
hole
properly
positioned
on
the
deck.
1-
Remove
arm
rest
assembly
from
the
packing
container.
Insert
Allen
Wrench
(1)
into
Allen
Screw
(C)
on
the
base
of
the
arm
rest
assembly.
Loosen
the
Allen
Set
Screw.
3-
Grasp
the
clip
at
the
top
of
the
arm
rest
assembly
and
gently
pull
upward.
Sleeve
(A)
will
slide
out
of
the
arm
rest
base.
Place
the
sleeve
to
one
side
for
future
use.
4-
Position
arm
rest
base
(D)
so
that
the
center
hole
in
the
base
is
over
the
tapped
hole
in
the
deck.
Insert
machine
screw
(#3)
through
base
(D)
and
tighten
into
threaded
hole.
To
align
the
screw
with
the
threaded
hole,
hold
screw
down
with
narrow
bladed
screw
driver
with
one
rXy
?

hand,
and
lift
base
(D)
a
short
distance
above
the
deck
with
the
other
hand.
The
screw
threads
will
protrude
below
the
bottom
of
the
base
allowing
you
to
move
the
base
so
that
the
screw
threads
align
themselves
with
the
threaded
hole.
When
proper
physical
positioning
is
accom-
plished,
tighten
screw
(#3)
firmly
mounting
the
arm
rest
base
to
the
deck.
Be
sure
that
in
the
final
tightened
position,
the
Allen
Screw
(C)
in
the
base
is
facing
the
outside
edge
of
the
deck.

Reinsert
sleeve
(A)
into
the
base
and
tighten
Allen
Screw
(C)
lightly.
Final
adjustment
of
sleeve
height
will
be
made
after
installation
of
tone
arm.
NOTE:
When
the
arm
rest
is
to
be
mounted
on
a
wooden
deck,
the
same
procedure
outlined
in
items
1
through
5
should
be
fol-
lowed,
with
the
only
exception
being
that
the
wood
screw
(#2)
should
be
substituted
for the
machine
screw
(#3).
The
proper
position
of
the
arm
rest,
in
the
absence
of
a
predrilled
hole,
can
be
selected
by
referring
to
diagram
#9
in
this
instruction
booklet.

MOUNTING
TONE
ARM
The
model
S-220
Micropoise
tone-
arm
is
designed
to
be
mounted
di-
rectly
to
Stereotables
B-12,
B-12H,
B-12GH,
N-133H
and
N-34H.
These
REK-O-KUT
turntable
decks
have

this

Remove
snap
cover
located
at
top
right
rear
of
turntable
deck
exposing
the
7/8
inch
tonearm
mounting
hole.
2-
Remove
pal
nut
(I)
by
unscrew-
ing
from
the
tonearm
bushing
(H).
(See
Fig.
2.
)
Insert
bushing
into
the
hole
by
first
pushing
the
plug-in
cables
(J)
through
the
hole
oneatatime
and
then
pushing
bushing
(H)
into
hole.
Firmly
seat
tonearm
base
(F)
so
that
it
is
flush
with
the
turntable
deck.
The
tonearm
base
should
be
positioned
so
that
Allen
Set
Screw,
item
(G),
faces
the
outer
edge
of
the
deck.
Slide
pal
nut
(I)
over
the
plug-in
cables.
Passing
the
plug-in
cables
through
the
pal
nut
one
ata
time,
thread
the
pal
nut
on
to
bushing
(H)
and
tighten
secure-
ly
against
bottom
of
the
deck.
This
nut
is
not
attached
until
the
tonearm
base
is
revolved
in
a
position
so
that
the
stop
in
the
base
does
not
allow
the
tonearm
to
swing
beyond
the
center
of
the
turntable.

The
cartridge
shell
(K)_
has
been
removed
from
tonearm
at
the
fac-
tory,
for
packaging.

The
cartridge
shell
has
been
designed
to
accept
practically
every
cart-
ridge
produced.
Most
cartridges
are
supplied
with
mounting
screws.
In
addition,

sets

cartridge
mounting

the
parts
package

are
capable

accommodating
every
type
of
cart-
ridge
in
the
shell
(items

For
deep
bodied
cartridges
use
item

longer
of
the
two
sets
of
brass
mounting
screws.
For
shallow-body
cartridges,
use

INSTALLING
THE
STEREO
CARTRIDGE
The
coding
of
the
terminal
pins
on
the
various
cartridges
has
not
as
yet
been
standardized
by
the
indus-
try.
It
is
therefore
necessary
to
follow
the
instructions
provided
by
the
manufacturer
of
the
cartridge
regarding
which
terminal
pin
should
be
connected
for
proper
cartridge
operation.
The
REK-O-KUT
color
coding
of
the
connecting
wires
are
as

Most
cartridges
are
constructed

the
overhang
distance
is
fixed
by
the
cartridge
mounting
holes
when
installed
in
a
REK-O-KUT
tonearm.
Some
cartridge
manu~
facturers,
however,
have
not
standardized
on
the
overhang
distance.
In
these
cases,
it
is
necessary
to
obtain
cartridge
mounting
kit
KT-126
from
your
REK-O-KUT
dealer.
This
kit
consists
of
a
cartridge
bracket
with
slotted
holes
which
allows
the
cartridge
to
be
moved
for-
ward
or
backward
until
proper
overhang
is
accomplished.

The
Micropoise
tonearm
has
been
designed
to
facilitate
the
electrical
connection
of
the
tonearm
to
the
amplifier
in
the
simplest
manner.
Connecting
cable
(J)
contains
two
completely
shielded
connecting
wires
and
one
ground
wire.
The
cartridge
connecting
cables
are
prewired
to
a
standard
phono
plug
(R
and
Q)
facilitating
the
direct
connection
of
the
cables
to
the
am-
plifier
without
the
need
for
solder-
ing.
The
ground
wire
is
equipped
with
a
spade
lug
for
installation
under
any
grounding
screw
of
the
preamplifier
chassis.

Each
of
the
stereo
channels
in
the
cartridge
is
connected
through
the
tonearm
wiring
to
a
separate
cable.
Each
cable
is
color
coded
for
proper
connection
to
the
stereo
in-
put
jacks
on
the
amplifier.
The
red
cable
is
connected
into
the
right
stereo
amplifier
input,
andthe
black
cable
is
connected
into
the
left
stereo
amplifier
input.
When
the
Micropoise
tonearm
is
used
with
a
monophonic
cartridge,
connect
only
one
pair
to
the
ter-
minals
on
the
cartridge.
(See
Fig.
3c).
It
is
therefore
necessary
to
plug
only
one
cable
into
the
ampli-
fier.

cable
should
be
left
floating
free
with
extreme
care
taken
to
prevent
the
unused
plug
from
touching
any
part
of
the
turntable
deck
or
amplifier.

TONE-
ARM
HEIGHT
With
the
cartridge
installed
and
the
shell
assembled
to
the
tonearm,
we
are
now
ready
to
adjust
for
the
proper
height
of
the
tonearm.
For
good
sound
reproduction
and
proper
tracking
it
is
essential
that
the
tonearm
be
parallel
to
the
record
surface.

spacing

adjustment,
tighten

sure

arm
height
does
not
change

tightening.
Finger
tightness
is
sufficient.
The
arm
rest
sleeve should
be
firmly
adjusted
in
a
similar
manner
to
hold
the
tonearm
tube
at
the
proper
height.

THE
STYLUS
PRESSURE
For
proper
record
wear,
stylus
life
and
sound
reproduction,
the
amount
of
weight
placed
by
the
stylus
on
the
record
is
important.
Since
the
amount
of
weight
is
a
function
of

the
cartridge
used,
the
pressure
on
the
stylus
must
be
individually
ad-
justed
after
cartridge
installation.
The
Micropoise
arm
takes
the
guess-work
out
of
stylus
pressure
adjustment
with
the
easily
adjust-
able
counterweight
(P)
and
the
new
Micropoise
Balance
Control
(0),
with
reference
line
centered
through
GROUND
WIRE
the

weight

stylus

on
the

Proper

the
cartridge
manufacturer,
