INSTRUCTIONS.
1. DESCRIPTION
Compatible with all DSM2/DSMX Transmitters.
Receiver for Live Steam locos. Drives servos & Directional Lights, etc.
Suitable for use with RCS ADVANCED ESC’s such as OMEGA-3v4/5/6/7 & PnP-3
2. FEATURES.
Purpose:
Loco with
TX-9 only
Lights are programmed for “LOW OFF”.
See step # 5 (pg 2) to reset to “CENTRE OFF”.
Normally use Ch # 1 for regulator control. When the loco to be controlled only uses the
Johnson bar for speed and direction plug the Johnson bar servo into Ch # 1 on the RX.
Pin 1: Ch1 Servo [Throttle] Adjustable throws
Pin 2: Ch4 Servo Adjustable throws
Pin 3: Ch3 Servo [Direction] Adjustable throws
Pin 4: Ch2 Servo Not adjustable.
Pin 5: Ch5 Servo Remove when Binding.
Pin 6: Front light Auto directional F –light. Remove when Binding.
Pin 7: Rear light Auto directional R-light. Remove when Binding.
The following 2 x channels are accessible on the hard wired module.
Pin 8: Ch6 Servo Regular Digital Proportional servo control.
Pin 9: Ch7 Servo Regular Digital Proportional servo control.

If all 5 x servo & both directional lighting outputs are in use, fit the
HT-7351 parallel Y extension in any Channel except Pins 5, 6, & 7.

3. CRUISE CONTROL / FAILSAFE.
Outputs do nothing (are not driven) on start up while scanning for a signal.
Outputs “hold” on signal loss or the Transmitter is switched off (Cruise Control).
4. BINDING.
a). When first binding to the TX. To avoid any damage to the servos we recommend disconnecting the servo
rods in case they are incorrect.
N.B. Ch # 5 servo & both LED’s (if fitted) MUST be removed from the Rx102-7(LR) when binding.
Use any vacant servo pin terminal to connect the battery pack whilst binding.
(i) Place binding plug on pins # 5 & # 7.
(ii) Switch ON RX. Rx LED will flash rapidly.
(iii) Then press & hold bind button on TX and switch TX ON. RX LED will flash more slowly for several seconds.
(iv) When that happens let go both TX buttons.
(v) Bind is complete when RX LED stays solid ON. Remove Binding plug before normal operation.
(vi) Put TX knobs in middle position and reconnect Servos & Lights.
If RX LED does not come ON within 10 seconds or continues flashing every 2 seconds (= scanning) the bind has
failed. Switch OFF TX and RX. Move them closer or further apart and retry. Binding is most reliable when no
other 2.4 GHz RC TX’s are turned on.
b). When re-binding the TX to a different loco, make sure all servos are set to the middle position and all knobs
on the new TX are also in the middle. Again Ch # 5 servo and lights must be removed
5. DIRECTIONAL LIGHTING:
Pin # 6 and Pin # 7 can drive optional extra Front & Rear lights (LED’s) on a locomotive.
They follow CH # 3 for Direction (or Ch # 1 for Throttle/Direction when “CENTRE OFF” is enabled).
The optional extra pre-wired LED’s are simply plugged in. CAN & MUST only be used with this RX.
N.B. LED’s must be removed when binding is taking place.

erate as “Low OFF”
or “Centre OFF”.
1. Put the Large Bind Plug in Signal Pins 3 & 5.
2. Switch RX ON and remove Large Bind Plug.
Repeat procedure to toggle lights “CENTRE OFF”.
Pins # 6 & # 7 are 3.1v when ON and 0v when OFF.
They have on-board 180 Ohm resistors which will limit current through LED’s to around 12 ma without needing
external resistors.
Connect the LED between the signal pin and Negative (-).

6. CHANGING SERVO SETTINGS.
Default servo direction, servo throws and servo centering of channels associated with Pin # 1, Pin # 2 & Pin # 3
can be changed at any time. One change per RX switch ON. Make a single change and then start again.
These processes are in THREE PHASES. RX can be powered by any set of pins.
PHASE # 1 – Select the output to change.

Procedure.
1. Switch RX ON. RX LED will toggle every ½ second. Remove Bind plug.
2. Switch TX ON. RX LED will flash once every 2s until it locks on to the TX signal and then stay OFF. A servo
on the chosen pin can then be controlled with the TX.
LEAVE TX SWITCHED ON FOR PHASE #2.
PHASE # 2. Make changes to selected output. For example, Changing servo default rotation direction.
Changes are made by connecting the signal pin to either Positive (+) or Negative (-).
Only the output being changed works while making changes to it.

PHASE # 3. Completing changes to channel selected.
(i) Remove the plug and the changes made will be saved.(No indication from LED). Then:
(ii) Switch the RX OFF and ON to use all outputs normally. OR:
(iii) Proceed to changing another channel. Go back to PHASE # 1.

Adjusting servo throws and centering.
The RX LED will flash and throws will change one step per second while plug is installed.
The RX LED stays on for 3 seconds when throws are returned to their “Mid” position.
The RX LED stays on solid when you reach the end of the adjustment range.
These processes are in THREE PHASES. RX can be powered by any set of pins.
PHASE # 1 (see page # 3).
