Diaphragm Pump M60
General Information
Bybuyingthe diaphragm pump M 60 you have purchased a Rheinstrom high-qualityproduct.
We onlyuse well-chosen high-qualitycomponents to ensure a trouble-free operation for many
years to come.
This type of pump has been especiallydesigned to be used as a sewage or bilge pump for
private yachts or professionallyused ships. The pump is sewage and seawater resistant due to
the use of red brass and stainless steel. The diaphragm and all rubber parts are oil-resistant.
Powerful direct current(DC) motors or 3-phase- (AC) motors make the pump suitable for
continuous operation (naturallyaspirated when dry).
Each pump is checked thoroughlybefore leavingour house. Rheinstrom gives a 1 year
warrantyfor each pump and guarantees a trouble-free functioningif the unit is installed
professionallyand treated properly.

Installation
There are manypossibilities for positioningand mountingwith footand rear mounting, for
this pump. With the above and the movable connections the installation can be chosen in
accordance with the conditions on board. The pump’s housingcan be rotated bylooseningthe
sixfixingscrews (60 degree steps) if necessary.
If you do not want to installthe pump in the horizontalpositioningplease make sure that the
sealing-casing(suction and delivery) is turned into the right position. The lughas to be on top
(see drawingNo. 3260103).
If the pump is to be installed belowwater-line and the outboard connection is also below
water-line the gooseneck pressure pipe has to be at least 500 mm above water-line. Please
make sure that the pipe cross-section must never be smaller than 1 ½ ‘’ or 38 mm at anyplace.
Otherwise the pump willnot be able to work efficientlycausingthe diaphragm and the valves
to fail prematurely.

Attention
The diaphragmpump M 60 is a displacement pump. It may never be run when the
delivery valve is closed because this can harmthe motor, the gear transmission and the
pump. The max. pressure may not exceed 1.5 bar = 21.345 psi.
The installation of the pump into the power supply systemshould be carried out by
trained personnel and according to the instructions of the VDE.
---- Please make sure that the voltage on board and the information on the pump’s data plate
are corresponding.
---- Please connect polarity !
Reversed wires maydestroythe motor of the pump.
(red=positive, black=negative)
You must not change the polarityof the pump’s connectors.
---- Use connection cables with a bigenough cross-section. We recommend a cross-section of
10mm2for 12V/24V.
---- The motor of the pump should be protected byan overload relay. We recommend the
installation of an automatic fuse. In case a fuse is used an ON/OFF switch should be
installed in the positive wire.
Maintenance
The sewage pump M60 is practicallymaintenance free. In case of a possible cloggingthe
check.-valves can be reached easilyafter removingboth connection tubes . If frostis expected
you should let the pump run empty. Small quantities of remainingwater willnotharmthe
pump even in verycold weather.
