WAR I G
!
When working with electrical or
electronic controls, make sure
that the power source has been
locked out and tagged according
to OSHA regulations or your
country’s local standards and
approved local electrical codes.
LOCKOUT / TAGOUT PROCEDURES
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requires that, in addition to posting safety
warnings and barricading the work area, the power supply has been locked in the OFF position or
disconnected. It is mandatory that an approved lockout device is utilized. An example of a lockout device is
illustrated in Figure 1. The proper lockout procedure requires that the person responsible for the repairs is
the only person who has the ability to remove the lockout device.
In addition to the lockout device, it is also a requirement to tag the power control in a manner that will
clearly note that repairs are under way and state who is responsible for the lockout condition. Tagout
devices have to be constructed and printed so that exposure to weather conditions or wet and damp
locations will not cause the tag to deteriorate or become unreadable.
RITE-HITE®Corporation does not recommend any particular lockout device, but recommends the utilization
of a device that meets OSHA standards (refer to OSHA regulation 1910.147). RITE-HITE®Corporation also
recommends the review and implementation of an entire safety program for the Control of Hazardous
Energy (Lockout/Tagout). These regulations are available through OSHA publication 3120.

ATTACHME T OF THE RAIL GUIDES
TO THE COLUM S (7")
Determine the desired rail mounting heights.1
Rails can be positioned at any height but,
standard mounting heights for the (2) rail
system are 42" and 21" from the floor to the
top of the rails.
Position the rail guide in the desired location2
on the column paying attention to the
orientation with the base plate. Drive (1)
3/16" x 1.5" self-drilling screw through the
top hole in the rail guide and into the
column.
Position the rail clip as shown in Figure 2.3
Attach the rail clip to the column in the same
manner using (2) self- drilling screws
through the holes provided in the rail guide.
Repeat this process for additional rail4
guides. It may be necessary to use a
straight edge to insure the rail guides are
positioned directly above one another on a
column.
NOTICE
O er-tightening the screws may make the
rail guide too tight and the rail hard to
insert.

ATTACHME T OF THE RAIL GUIDES
TO THE COLUM S (43")
Position the rail guide in the desired location1
on the column paying attention to the
orientation with the base plate.
Drive (1) 3/16" x 1.5" self-drilling screw2
through the top or second hole in the rail
guide and into the column.
Drive a second screw into the column3
through a hole in the rail guide near the
bottom of the column.
Attach the rail clip to the column at the4
desired location using (2) self- drilling
screws.
ATTACHME T OF RAILS TO THE
COLUM S
Position the columns so that the spacing1
captures the rail snuggly. For rails that are
not cut, this will provide a center-line spacing
of 10' for the columns.
Set the rail onto the rail clips extending from2
the column. Drive (2) ¼" x 1.25 lag screws
up through the rail clip and into the bottom
of the plastic rail. Be careful not to over-
tighten and strip out the screw holes.
For installations where removable rails are3
necessary, the rail can be set on the rail clip
and not screwed in place. There will be
some loss of force that the rails will support
because the screws are not helping to
strengthen the rail.
Figure 3
NOTICE
O er-tightening the screws may make the rail
guide too tight and the rail hard to insert.
Repeat this process for other columns, or to
attach more than one guide to a column for
corners or linear runs.

A CHORI G
Anchor the columns to the floor with the (2) ½"
x 5.25" concrete anchors that are provided. If
possible, mount them on opposite corners of the
base plate. More anchors may be used if
required by the application. It may be helpful to
use a laser level or chalk-line to insure long
runs are straight.
I STALLATIO OF COLUM CAP
Press the plastic cap provided into the top of
the column.
