Intended Use
The Buddy is designed as a Classroom chair for children with mild postural needs.
The Buddy is suitable for use in a classroom, nursery or home environment.
A range of accessories are available to further aid the requirements of the user.
The Buddy is available in sizes 1-6
The Buddy has been tested to and meets the requirements of BS EN 1729-1 & 2
SAFETY GUIDELINES
Always read these instructions fully before use.
The Buddy should be checked before use for any damage. Any damage should
be reported to supplying authority or RMS.
The Buddy should only be used on flat and levels surfaces in an indoor
environment.
Users should never be left unattended whilst using this chair.
Maximum weight limits should never be exceeded.
Initial set up and subsequent adjustments to the Buddy should only be made by
a suitably qualified person. Any adjustments should be checked for security
before use.
Always keep the Buddy away from sources of heat such as naked flames,
cigarettes, electric and gas heaters.
Worn or damaged upholstery can lead to hygiene contamination, cause injury to
the user and in some cases fail to support the user correctly. Regular
inspections of all upholstery should be made and any defects should be
reported to the relevant authority for rectification as soon as possible.
Ancillary devices, such as the Headrest, positioning Straps and Harnesses, or
Pommel should be checked for security on a daily basis.
Where wheels are fitted the parking brakes should always be applied before
use or when attempting to transfer the occupant
Never hang heavy objects on the Buddy, as this could seriously affect the
overall stability.
Only accessories supplied by RMS are suitable for use with the Buddy. All
accessories should be checked correct fitment, security and condition before
use.
The Buddy contains components that could present a choking hazard to small
children. Always check the bolts, nuts and knobs are fully secured at all times.
RMS recommend that daily visual checks are made to ensure that components
including nuts, bolts , knobs are secure. That all upholstery is secure and check
for wear and tear. That where fitted castors and wheels are checked for
security, free movement and the braking sysytem is working correctly. Any
defects should be reported to your local RMS dealer or RMS.
Ensure Users do not stand on the chair.
Buddy’s fitted with wheels should not be used as wheelchairs. Wheeled
versions are only intended to be used to aid the movement of the chair within a
classroom environment on flat and level surfaces.

UPHOLSTERY CARE and MAINTENANCE
Unless otherwise requested, your Buddy upholstery is finished in vinyl fabric.
The material is Flame Retardant to BS5852 source 5 Crib 5. Phthalates
free.
Effective at reducing the spread of MRSA, E.Coli and other similar bacteria
and fungi.
General Fabric Care
1. Clean & Disinfect
Remove day to day dirt and residue with warm, soapy water and a clean, soft
cloth. If disinfection is necessary, clean with a solution of disinfectant specified by
the manufacturer with a damp cloth. When using bleach, a 5% (50,000ppm)
solution is acceptable.
2. Dry
Follow this with a clean water rinse and dry with a soft cloth or towel.
3. Brush
For heavy or ingrained soiling, follow steps 1 and 2 above, then scrub the affected
area using a soft brush and warm, soapy water, followed by a clean water rinse
and dry.
The use of solvents, abrasives, synthetic detergents, wax polishes or
aerosol sprays is not recommended. Using cleaning products contrary to the
manufacturers instructions may compromise the integrity of the fabric and may
forfeit your warranty.
Chest strap
Fit the cam locks to the holes provided in
the backrest panel at the appropriate
height.
Thread the straps through the slot in the
side panel and through the cam locks and
adjust to suit.
