GENERAL SAFETY WARNINGS
• Read the instructions carefully. Be familiar with
the controls and proper use of the unit.
• Stay alert. Do not operate this unit when tired, ill
or under the influence of alcohol, drugs or
medication.
• Never allow children to operate the unit. Teens
must be trained, accompanied and supervised
by an adult. Local regulations may require the
operator to be of a certain age. Never allow
anyone, of any age, to use this unit if they are
unfamiliar with the instructions contained in this
manual. Never allow people with reduced
physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack
of experience and knowledge, to use the unit.
Never allow children to clean or maintain the
unit without supervision.
• Inspect the unit before use. Do not operate the
unit with loose or damaged parts.
• The operator or user is responsible for accidents or
hazards occurring to other people or their property.

1. SAVE THESE INSTRUCTI NS - This manual
contains important safety and operating
instructions.
2. Before using this product, read all instructions
and cautionary markings on the battery, battery
charger, and the unit(s) powered by the battery.
3. Do not charge the unit outdoors.
WARNING: Only charge 4144 or
6216 batteries with a 4044 battery charger.
D N T attempt to use any other battery
charger to charge 4144 or 6216 batteries.
Other types of battery chargers may cause
the batteries to burst, resulting in fire,
personal injury or property damage. WHILE PERATING
• Use the unit only in daylight or good artificial light.
• Use the right tool. Only use this tool for its
intended purpose.
• Use only original equipment manufacturer (OEM)
replacement parts and accessories for this unit.
These are available from your authorized service
dealer. Use of any other parts or accessories
could lead to serious injury to the user, or
damage to the unit, and void the warranty.

WARNING:The battery may
present a risk of fire or chemical burn if
mistreated. Do not disassemble, overheat
or incinerate the battery. The battery may
develop a small leak under extreme usage
or temperature conditions.
If battery fluid contacts skin:
- Immediately wash the area with soap
and water.
- Neutralize the battery fluid with a mild
acid (lemon juice, vinegar, etc.).
- Seek immediate medical attention.
If battery fluid gets in the eyes:
- Immediately flush the eyes with clean
water for at least 15 minutes.
- Seek immediate medical attention.
SAFETY WARNINGS F R ELECTRIC UNITS
General Electric Safety
• Do not expose the unit to rain or wet conditions.
• Do not handle the unit with wet hands.
• Do not operate the unit in the rain, in wet
conditions or on wet surfaces.
• To reduce the risk of electric shock, avoid body
contact with grounded conductors, such as
metal pipes or wire fences.
• Do not operate the unit in explosive
atmospheres, such as in the presence of
flammable liquids, gases or dust.
Battery Safety
• Do not allow the battery to overheat. If it is
warm, allow it to cool down. Only charge
batteries in temperatures between 32° and 104°
F (0° and 40° C).
• Do not expose the battery to fire or to
temperatures over 176º F (80º C). Doing so
could cause an explosion.
• andle batteries with care. Do not short the
battery with conductive materials, such as rings,
bracelets, keys, etc. Shorting the battery may
cause personal injury, damage to the battery or
a fire.
• When the battery is not in use, keep it away
from small metal objects, such as paper clips,
coins, nails, etc. These items could connect one
terminal to another and short the battery.
• Do not attempt to charge a cracked or damaged
battery.
• Do not use a damaged or modified battery.
Doing so could result in a fire, explosion or
personal injury.

BATTERIES
WARNING: To prevent
contamination of the environment, contact
your local waste disposal agency for
specific instructions before disposing of
damaged or worn-out lithium-ion batteries.
Take batteries to a local recycling and/or
disposal center, certified for lithium-ion
battery disposal.
WARNING: Do not use broken or
cracked batteries, even if there isn't
leakage. Replace damaged or worn-out
batteries with new batteries. DO NOT
ATTEMPT TO REPAIR BATTERIES! Repair
attempts may result in severe personal
injury, due to explosion or electrical shock.
WARNING: The following toxic and
corrosive material is used in this unit's
battery:
LIT IUM-ION, a toxic material.
To avoid personal injury and damage to the
environment:
• Do not attempt to remove or destroy any of the
battery components. Do not open or mutilate
the battery. If a leak develops, released
electrolytes are corrosive and toxic. Do not get
the solution in your eyes or on your skin, and do
not swallow it.
• Do not dispose of the battery in the regular
household trash.
• Do not dispose of the battery in a fire. The cell
may explode.
• Do not dispose of the battery where it will
become part of any waste landfill or municipal
solid waste stream.
• Cover the battery terminals with heavy-duty
adhesive tape.
• Dispose of the battery according to local and
national regulations.
• Dispose of the battery promptly.
THER SAFETY WARNINGS
• Maintain the unit with care.
• Do not perform maintenance procedures other
than those described in this manual. Do not
attempt to repair the unit; there are no user-
serviceable parts inside. All service, other than
the maintenance procedures described in this
manual, should be performed by an authorized
service dealer.
• If the unit is not working as it should, has been
dropped, damaged, left outdoors or dropped
into water, do not use the unit.
• Never remove, modify or make inoperative any
safety device furnished with the unit.
• Secure the unit while transporting.
• Store the unit in a dry place, secured or at a
height to prevent unauthorized use or damage.
Keep the unit out of the reach of children.
• Never douse or squirt the unit with water or any
other liquid. Avoid getting water in the electrical
connections. Keep the unit dry, clean and free
from debris. Clean the unit after each use. Refer
to Cleaning and Storage. Do not use solvents or
strong detergents.
• Keep these instructions. Refer to them often and
use them to instruct other users. If you loan this
unit to others, also loan them these instructions.

CHECKING THE BATTERY CHARGE LEVEL
Press the charge meter button on the battery. The number of lights
that illuminate will indicate the current charge level of the battery
(Fig. 1). If all four lights are dark, charge the battery before any
further use.
N TE: While in use, lithium-ion batteries provide power with
minimal power fade. When the battery is fully discharged, it will
immediately cut power to the unit and require charging. Fig. 1

ASSEMBLY
CHARGING THE BATTERY
The battery is not shipped fully charged. For maximum run time,
fully charge the battery before each use. Refer to Charging the
Battery in the battery charger operator’s manual.
N TE: Lithium-ion batteries will not develop a memory and may be
charged at any time.
CLEANING AND ST RAGE
CLEANING
Use a small brush or clean, dry cloth to clean the outside of the battery.
ST RAGE
• Remove the battery from the unit.
• Thoroughly clean the battery and inspect it for any damage.
• Lock up the battery to prevent unauthorized use or damage.
• Store the battery indoors, in a dry, well-ventilated area.
• Store the battery in an area that is between 65 and 75˚ F (18 and
24˚ C).
• Store the battery out of the reach of children.
• If the battery is left unused for more than two months, fully
charge the battery before use.
WARNING: To prevent serious injury, always remove the
battery from the unit before cleaning the battery.
WARNING: To prevent serious injury, do not use water to
clean the battery. Do not use strong detergents. ousehold
cleaners that contain aromatic oils such as pine and lemon,
and solvents such as kerosene, can damage plastic.

1 Statutory Warranty
1.1 If you are a “consumer” pursuant to the Australian Consumer Law, then MTD Products Australia Pty Ltd ACN 004 873 572 (MTD) confirms
the following: Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. You are entitled to a
replacement or refund for a major failure and for compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. You are also entitled to
ha e the goods repaired or replaced if the goods fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure.
1.2 Your right to replacement, refund or compensation under the Australian Consumer Law may be against MTD and/or the party that
supplied the relevant product to you, as specified in the Australian Consumer Law.
2 Contractual Warranty
2.1 In addition to the rights and remedies you have under law:

provides the following additional contractual warranty in support of the products listed in Table A (MTD Product), supplied by MTD or
an authorised MTD dealer within Australia to you.
2.2 MTD warrants to the party who purchased the MTD Product from MTD or an authorised MTD dealer (you), subject to the terms and
conditions of the warranty set out in this document (Warranty), that the MTD Product will be free from defects in materials and
workmanship for the period set out in Table A below (Warranty Period).
2.3 The Warranty Period will commence on the date you purchase the MTD Product from MTD or an MTD dealer. The Warranty Period
varies, as set out in the Table A, according to:
(1) the type of MTD Product;
(2) the part of the MTD Product that is defective; and
(3) whether the MTD Product is:
(a) solely used for personal and domestic purposes, which excludes any use in connection with a business or trade
(Residential Use); or
(b) not solely used for personal and domestic purposes, or is used in connection with a business or trade (Commercial Use).

2.4 For the purpose of Table A:
(1) “Attachments” means any component of a product that is not a supplied as a standard component (i.e. it is purchased separately)
(2) Where a primary or secondary school purchases an MTD Product for use by that school, that use will be classified as Residential Use;
(3) onda, Briggs & Stratton and Kohler & Kawasaki engines are “Non Ro er” engines;
(4) Normal Wear Parts include batteries, blades, blade bolts, V-belts, line heads, spark plugs and filters, as classified by MTD; and
(5) “rolling chassis” means the frame plus the "running gear" like handle bars, wheels, driveshaft and axle.
2.5 In the event of dispute, MTD will determine whether the MTD Product was used for a Residential Use or Commercial Use.
3 Exclusions and Limitations
3.1 The Warranty ceases to apply to any MTD Product if it is:
(1) serviced or repaired using non-genuine parts (being parts or components not originally manufactured or imported into Australia
by MTD); or
(2) assembled, serviced, modified or adjusted by a person not appropriately trained in the assembly, servicing, modification or
adjustment of the MTD Product, as determined by MTD.
3.2 This Warranty does not apply to, or in any way cover:
(1) normal wear and tear;
(2) defects in or related to the battery;
(3) any defect that was brought to your attention, or would reasonably have been revealed to you if you had conducted an
examination, before acquiring the MTD Product;
(4) any defect in, or defect caused by, parts or components that were not:
(a) manufactured or imported into Australia by MTD;
(b) supplied by a supplier approved by MTD; or
(c) approved by MTD for use with the MTD Product;

(5) any failure arising from accident, abuse, act of God, fire, sabotage, vandalism, contaminated fluids or neglect or failure to operate,
store and/or maintain and service the MTD Product in accordance with the instruction manual supplied with the MTD Product;
(6) any parts or services required for the normal and regular maintenance of the MTD Product e.g. lubricants;
(7) normal adjustments which are noted in the instruction manual supplied with the MTD Product;
(8) any defect caused by the engine being turned other than in accordance with the instruction manual supplied with the MTD Product;
(9) any defect arising from the use of:
(a) fuel or fuel and oil mix for the engine;
(b) chain and bar oil for the oil pump; or
(c) lubricating oil in a four stroke engine;
in the MTD Product other than in accordance with the instruction manual supplied with the MTD Product; or
3.3 This Warranty:
(1) is not transferable; and
(2) does not apply to an MTD Product acquired by way of auction, or online, or from a person other than MTD or an authorised MTD dealer.
3.4 This warranty does not cover the cost of claiming under the warranty, including any freight or delivery costs. Such costs must be paid by you.
3.5 Despite any other provision of this Warranty, MTD’s liability arising from, under or in connection with this Warranty is limited as set out
in paragraph 5.1. Except as expressly set out in paragraph 5 and subject to law, MTD is not liable under this Warranty for any
damages, losses, costs or expenses including, without limitation, loss of profit, loss of production or any financial or economic loss,
and other indirect or consequential loss, which may be suffered by you or by any third party arising out of or in any way connected
with any defect in an MTD Product.
3.6 Except to the extent expressly set out in this warranty, and subject to law, MTD does not make any promise or representation as to the
quality, performance, or freedom from defects, of any MTD Product.
4 How to Claim
4.1 To make a claim under this Warranty you must promptly, and at your own expense, take your:
(1) MTD Product;
(2) proof of purchase with purchase date; and
(3) evidence of warranty registration in accordance with paragraph 4.1;
to an authorised MTD dealer upon discovery of any defect in the MTD Product, and within the relevant Warranty Period. Your nearest
MTD dealer can be found at cubcadet.com.au, rover.com.au or mtd.com.au. You must also provide your name, address and phone
number to the MTD dealer to whom you return the MTD Product.
4.2 If you have any inquiries about making a claim, please contact the MTD dealer from whom you purchased your MTD Product or your
nearest MTD dealer.
5 MTD’s bligations
5.1 The obligations of MTD under this warranty will be limited to one of the following at the election of MTD:
(1) repair of the MTD Product;
(2) provision of a replacement MTD Product; or
(3) a refund of the price you paid for the MTD Product.
