unit near the power cord. Copy the serial number onto your warranty
card and mail it back to Russound I FMP, Inc. 5 Forbes Road
Newmarket, New Hampshire 03857. Be sure to retain a copy and
keep it in a safe place.
2. Power –WARNING - BEFORE TURNING ON THE POWER FOR
THE FIRST TIME , READ THE FOLLOWING SECTION CAREFULLY.
All models are designed for use only with the power supply voltage of
the region where they are sold. USA and Canadian: AC 120V, 60Hz
A label located at the rear panel power connection indicates the AC
power input for the unit. For use in the USA and Canada the label
will read AC 120V, 60Hz.
3. Do Not Touch The AP-48 With Wet Hands. Do not handle the AP-48
or power cord when your hands are wet or damp. If water or any
other liquid enters the AP-48 cabinet, take the AP-48 to qualified ser-
vice personal for inspection.
4. Location of the AP-48 - Do not expose the AP-48 to direct sun light or
heating units as the AP-48 internal components temperature may rise
and shorten the life of the components. Avoid damp and dusty places
.

2. Product Overview
The AP-48 Eight Channel Power Amplifier is capable of amplifying four stereo line-Ievel audio sources (CD players, tape decks, pream-
plifiers, tuners, etc...) simultaneously in multi-zone, multi-source installations. The eight amplifiers are arranged in pairs to provide four
stereo amplifiers. A line level bus is provided to allow two or more of the stereo amplifiers to share the same audio source. With one of
the four mono/stereo selector switches in the mono position, two amplifiers can serve as mono outputs. The AP-48 is ideal for applica-
tions that require multi-source amplification, while keeping cost and space requirements to a minimum.
3. Features
The AP-48 power output per channel is a constant 56 watts into an 8 ohm load and 62 watts into a 4 ohm load. This power output is
backed up by a very large power supply that can provide the current and voltage required when all amplifiers are on at full output. All 8
amplifiers are attached to two large heat sinks to allow the amplifiers to run at high outputs for extended periods of time without the
internal thermal protection activating. Each of the four stereo amplifiers can be switched to select the audio from the main bus input or
from the individual line input. Each of the four stereo amplifiers can be set to play in mono or stereo mode by a switch located onthe
back of the AP-48. This will allow stereo in specific zones while mono is in another zone, although the same source is playing. Each
amplifier has independent thermal and short circuit protection to allow the problem amplifier to shut down while the remaining ampli-
fiers continue to operate. Russound's AP-48 is proudly manufactured in the USA at our facility in Newmarket, NH.
4. Front Panel
•Power Switch turns on the
main power for the amplifier.
•Power On LED will be illuminated
when the power is on.
5. Back Panel
•Main Bus Input is a bus input that is available at all four amplifiers by setting the bus/line switch to bus.
•MainBus Output is used to loop out the main bus audio signal.
•Line/Bus Switch is used to select the audio input from either the dedicated line input or the main bus input.
•Stereo/Mono Switchis used to select stereo or mono for the selected amplifier.
•Line Input is an input specifically for the associated amplifier. This signal is not shared by the other amplifiers.
•Speaker connection is a detachable connector that can be wired with a wire size of up to 12 AWG.
•10 Amp Rail Fuses are used to protect each of the + and - power rails. These fuses can only be replaced by a 10 Amp AGC 32V
fuses. Fuse replacement should only be done when the power plug is removed from the amplifier.
•Three-Prong A/C Receptacle is used to accept the heavy-duty three-prong 6' power cord included with the amplifier.
