Speakers Placement
Acoustics will differ in every room based on size, furniture & TV placement etc. Here are
some general guidelines to place your speakers in your Living room or dedicated cinema
room.
This is a guide only (biased towards practicality).
❏Speaker Placement General Guideline
❏Avoid placing items directly in front of your speakers.
Saber Audio | Handcrafted | Transmission Line Speakers

❏Speakers sound best when they are level with your ears when you are
listening to them, specially the tweeters.
❏Keep the speakers slightly closer to you than you TV. Otherwise, the edges of
the TV will affect the sound quality.
❏Closed windows reflect a lot of sound. Having a thick curtain can counter this
making the sound more natural. Having an open windows exactly opposite
the speakers may reduce the room gain i.e. you might find the volume lower
in this arrangement.
❏Speaker Positioning
❏Try to create a equilateral triangle between listening position and the 2
speakers. Angle the speakers towards the listening position (i.e. Toe In).
Saber Audio | Handcrafted | Transmission Line Speakers

❏If the equilateral triangle is not possible, then the distance between the 2
speakers should be 72% of the length of the wall they’re standing against.
❏CRITICAL TIPS
❏The speaker distance from the back and side wall must be unequal.
This will create cancellation of waves resulting in bad sound.
❏Moving the speakers away from each other (upto a point) increases
sound staging and tonal variation. Moving the speakers closer back
wall lifts bass.
❏If your living room setup results in unequal distance from side walls,
you may hear unequal sound. Try to adjust toe in to balance that out.
❏When setting up new speakers, don’t rush through the process. Take
your time and slowly find the ideal location over a few weeks of
listening. Seek help from friends or family.
❏If you’ve already placed your speakers, but did not put much effort
into the process, spend some time tweaking your speaker set-up.
You’ll be surprised to see the difference.

❏NOTE: We do not recommend too much toe in. This will create a sweet spot
in the room and in most cases the idea would be to optimize sound for more
people in the living room and not one. Saber’s products have great sound
dispersion and off axis response so Toe in should be kept at minimum.
