When you start recording,
set the counter to "000" by

make a note of the
counter
number
at the beginning
of each.
Toplay
backa
particular
selection,depress the FAST FORWARD
or
REWINDkey until the counter registersthe number
previously
noted.
Cassette
compartment
Holdsthe cassette
whileyou record
or play
backa tape.

Make
surethatthe
cassette
tape
has
no
slack
prior
toinserting
cassetteinto
the
recorder.
Unlessthetape
is
taut,
itmaywind
aroundthe
headmechanismand
trouble
may
result.
Usea
pen-
cilasshown
in
the
picture
totakeupslackononeofthe
reels.
TOINSERT
THE
CASSETTE.
Press
theSTOP/EJECT
key.The
cassette
compartmentlid
will
open.Insert
thecassettewithfullreel
to
the
left
(as
seenthru
window)
and
with
tape
slotat bottom.
The
cassettewillfitinto
the
unitonly
in
the
correct
position.
To
place
the
cassettein
operating
position,
just
close
the
compart-
ment
by
pushing
in
ontop
oflid.

Whenever
a recording
is
made,the
sound
previously
recorded
onthetape
is
erased
automatically.

valuable

cassette

Topreserve
recordedmaterialona
cassette,breakoutthe
flapsonthe
rear
of
thecassette.Use

screwdriver

to mechanical
instabilityand
also
proper
andconstant
tapetension
cannot
becontrolled.

Yourrecorderhas
a
TAPESELECTswitch
which
enables
you
to
select
the
proper
recording
bias
andthe
proper
recording
and
playback
equalization
forthetypeoftape
beingused.
For
optimum
recordingand
playback
performance,
change
the
switch
position
accordingto thetype
of tape
in use,
before
recording
orplayback.

the

side
to
be
recorded
toward
you.(When
using
anunrecorded
cassette

left

setthe
POWER
ON/OFF
switch
to"ON".

theTAPESELECT
switch
for
typeof tape
being
used
(NORMAL
orCrO,).
4. lf
you
areusinga
partially
recordedcassetteandwish
to
go
back
and
recordfrom
the
beginning
of
reel,
then
rewind
the
tape
by
pressing
the
REWIND
key.
Press
the counter
Resetbutton
to reset
thecounter
to
"000" afterrewinding.
5. First
press
the
PAUSEkey,
then
RECORDandPLAYkeys
simultaneously.
6. Adjust INPUTLEVEL
controls so that the level dis-
play just reachO-VUon the loudest passages
of your
recording.
NOTE:
Be sure
yourrecording levelis sef corectly.Recording
with the levelsef foo high (RED LED's
light up con-
stantly)

recorder

return

STOP

10.Push
in and release
the POWER
switchto turn power
off.

BACK......
1. Makeconnectionto
suitablesound.system

page2, and then set the POWERON/OFF
switch to
"oN".
2. Insert
the recordedcassette
with
thesideto be played
toward
you.
3. Set
the
TAPE
SELECTswitch
fortype
of tape
being
used
(NORMAL
or
CrO,).
4. Depress
the
PLAYkey.Yourunitwillbegintoplay
back.
5. To
stop
playback
temporarily,
press
the
PAUSEkey.
Press
the
PAUSEkeyagainto restart
playback
operation.
6. To playbackany desired
portion
in the middle
of the
tape,
use FASTFORWARD
or REWINDkey.
Pressthe
STOP/EJECT
keyafter
FASTFORWARDor REWINDto
stopthetape
deck
motorattheend
of thetape.
7. When
playback
isfinished,
press
the
STOP/EJECT
key.
lftheendofthetape
isreached
while
playing
back,
your
recorderwillautomatically
stop.

the
PowER
oN/oFF
switchto "oFF".

MAINTENANCE
Pleaserememberthat
yourrecorderis a sensitiveelectro-
mechanical
device
which
needs
occasional
maintenance.
1. Cleaningof
neads
and
pinch
roller.
Toassurecontinuedhigh
performance
from
your
recorder,
periodically
clean heads, pinch roller and capstan
wheneveran accumulation
of dustand red-brown
oxide
particles
isnoticed.
Theseparticles
may be removed
with a cotton swab
moistenedin isopropyl
alcohol
or specialheadcleaning
fluid.Todothis
properly,push
theSTOP/EJECTkeyand
cassettecompartmentlid
willopen.
Carefully
rub
theface
oftheheadwith
alcoholandalsothe
surfaceofthecapstan
and
pinch
roller.
2. Cleaningofcabinetandvisiblemetal
parts.
Usea clean
softclothmoistenedwith plain
lukewarm
water.
Neveruse benzol,benzineor other strongchemical
cleaners
sincethesecoulddamage
the
finish
of
your
unit.
It is important
thatno liquid
reaches
the insides
of the
recorder.
