Welcome
Thank you for purchasing this Scandium appliance.
To achieve the optimal performance from your appliance, and to avoid the risk of accident or damage, it is
essential to read this manual before installation and rst time use.
This guide contains important information on the use and maintenance of the appliance, as well as important
safety notes.
Your appliance has been thoroughly checked for safety and functionality before being packaged and leaving
the manufacturer.
Please keep this instruction manual in a safe place so you can refer to it at any time.
ATTENTION
Installation, regulation or maintenance, of both gas and electric appliances, should
only be executed by qualied and authorised personnel who are aware of the
installation regulations in force.
Please make sure to read this booklet carefully, containing general instructions for the
Installation, Operation and Maintenance of your appliance, before installation and
operation.
It is extremely useful to know, in detail, the best way of operating and maintaining
this appliance so you can enjoy its benets and be assure of the best results.
Please keep this instruction booklet with the appliance in case you pass it on to
someone else.
IMPORTANT: Upon collection or delivery of the appliance, any damage or defects MUST be reported
within 48 hours to the retailer or the customer service centre, or no claim will be recognised.

2. Your Safety — General Warnings
WARNING: It is important that this guide be retained with the appliance for future reference. Should the
appliance be sold or transferred, always ensure that the book is left with the appliance in order that the new
owner can get to know the functions of the appliance and the relevant warnings. These warnings are provided
in the interest of safety. You MUST read them carefully before installing or using the appliance.
• This appliance is designed for non-professional use by private individuals at home. It must be used by
adults.
• Do not allow children to play with the appliance
• The accessible parts of the cooktop could overheat during use.
• The appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or
mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or
instruction concerning the use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety. Children should be
supervised to ensure they do not play with the appliance.
• Unattended cooking with fat or oil can be dangerous and may result in re.
• NEVER try to extinguish a re with water. Switch off the appliance and then cover ame e.g. with a lid or a
re blanket.
• Danger of re: Do not store items on the cooking surfaces.
• If the surface is cracked, switch off the appliance to avoid the possibility of electric shock.
• The appliance is not intended to be operated by means of an external timer or separate remote-control
system.
• Do not use steam cleaning devices to clean the appliance.
• Before using the ceramic plate for the rst time read the Operating Manual carefully to ensure safe
operation and avoid damage to the plate.
• If the ceramic cooktop is operated near a radio, TV set or other emitting device, please check whether the
touch panel works correctly.
• The ceramic plate must be installed by a qualied electrician.
• Do not install the ceramic plate near refrigerating devices.
• The benchtop surfaces should be resistant to temperatures up to 100ºC. This requirement applies to the
veneers, edges, plastic surfaces, glues and varnishes.
• The plate can only be used after it has been installed.
• Electric appliances can only be repaired only by qualied specialists. Unprofessional repairs may
compromise the safety of the appliance and void warranty.
• Never allow children to remain unattended near the cooktop or to play with the control panel.
• When switched on, the hotplates quickly become hot. To avoid unnecessary power consumption, switch
them on only after putting a cooking pot.
• A residual temperature indicator built-in into the electronic system tells you if the hotplate is still switched
on and whether it is still hot.

• Should a power failure occur, all the settings and indicators will be cancelled. Please be careful when the
power supply is restored as hotplates which have been hot before the power failure will no longer be
indicated.
• If there is a mains socket located near the hotplate, make sure that the supply cord does not touch the hot
places.
• Do not leave the plate unattended when cooking with fats and oils as they can create re hazard.
• Do not use plastic pots or containers made from aluminium foil as they melt in high temperatures and may
damage the ceramic plate.
• Sugar, citric acid, salt etc., both in liquid and solid state, as well as plastic should not come into contact with
a hot hotplate.
• If sugar or plastic gets on spilt the hot hotplate, you may not switch off the plate but scrape away sugar or
plastic using a sharp scrap. Protect hands from burns.
• Use only at-bottom pots and saucepans on your ceramic plate, without sharp edges or burrs as the plate
may become permanently damaged.
• The heating surface of the ceramic plate is resistant to thermal shock. It is neither hot nor cold-sensitive.
• Avoid dropping objects on the plate as they could cause cracks and damage. A point hit, for example a
falling bottle with spices, may in unfavourable circumstances lead to cracks and splits appearing on your
ceramic plate.
• Boiled over residuals of food may penetrate damaged places and reach the live components of the ceramic
plate.
• Should cracks or splits appear on the surface of your ceramic plate immediately disconnect it from the mains
and call the customer service centre.
• Please observe the maintenance and cleaning guidelines. Failure to comply with the provided guidelines,
will void warranty.
CAUTION
The cooking process has to be supervised. A short term cooking
process has to be supervised continuously.

Saving Energy
Saving energy not only saves you money, it also helps to keep the environment healthy. Below
are some useful tips.
• Use proper pans for cooking
Pans with thick, at bases can save up to 30 % on electric energy. Remember to use a lid to
cover pans if possible; otherwise you will use four times more energy.
• Match cookware to the size of the cooking zone
Cookware should be neither bigger nor smaller than the diameter of the hotplate.
• Keep the plate and cookware bases clean
Soils can prevent heat transfer and heavily burnt food residuals often require cleaning with chemicals that
can cause damage to the environment.
• Avoid unnecessary cookware lid removal (a watched pot never boils)
• Do not install the plate near refrigerators or freezers
Otherwise energy consumption increases unnecessary.
Unpacking
The appliance has been packed to protect it from damage during transport. After
unpacking, please dispose of the packing materials in a way that will not cause damage
to the environment.
All materials used for packaging of the appliance are environmentally friendly and 100%
recyclable and marked with the appropriate symbol.
IMPORTANT: During unpacking, keep the packaging material (polystyrene bags, polystyrene pieces, etc.) out
of reach of children.

Making the Benchtop Recess
• Benchtop thickness should be 28 - 40 mm. The benchtop must be at and level. Edge of the benchtop near
the wall must be sealed to prevent ingress of water or other liquids.
• There should be sufcient spacing around the opening, in particular, at least 50 mm distance to the wall and
60 mm distance to the front edge of benchtop.
• The distance between the edge of the opening and the side wall of the benchtop should be at least 55 mm.
• Benchtop must be made of materials, including veneer and adhesives, resistant to a temperature of 100°C.
Otherwise, benchtop maybe deformed.
• Edge of the opening should be sealed with suitable sealer to prevent ingress of water.
• Benchtop opening must be cut to dimensions as shown on gure 1.
• Ensure a minimum clearance of 25 mm below the cooktop to allow proper air circulation and prevent
overheating.

4. Installation
When installing the cooktop in the kitchen benchtop, install a partition panel, as shown on the picture. If the
cooktop is to be installed above a built-in oven, installation of the partition panel is not required.
If the cooktop was installed in the kitchen benchtop above the drawer, the bottom cover of the cooktop must
be covered with a wooden panel or protective board for ceramic cooktops.

IMPORTANT
• Do not install the cooktop above the oven without ventilation, inadequate ventilation will
damage the cooktop and void warranty.
• Position electrical lead so that it does not touch the lower guard.

Cooktop Installation
• Use the four xing brackets (3) for 38 mm thick benchtops. Fit the cooktop into the benchtop opening as
shown on gure 2 and 3. To properly secure the cooktop on a 28 mm thick benchtop, use four 15x15x50 mm
wooden blocks in addition to xing brackets (3). Fit the cooktop into the benchtop opening as shown on
gure 4 and 5.
• Check the adhesive seal is properly applied to the cooktop‘s ange.
• Loosely attach xing brackets to the bottom of the cooktop.
• Remove dust from the benchtop, insert cooktop into the opening and press in rmly.
• Position xing brackets perpendicularly to the cooktop‘s edge and tighten rmly.

Connecting the Cooktop to the Electrical System
NOTE: The cooktop must only be connected to the mains by an authorised certied installer. Wilful
adaptations or modications to the electric system are prohibited and void any warranty.
Guidelines for the Installer
The cooktop is factory-set for two-phase alternating current power supply (400V 2N~50 Hz).
It may be adapted for one-phase current power supply (230-240V) by adequate bridging on the connection
strip, in accordance with the attached wiring diagram. The wiring diagram is also located on the bottom
part of the lower cover. The connection strip can be accessed once the lid on the bottom cover is removed.
Please remember to match the mains connection cable to the type of connection and the rated power of the
cooktop.
Fix the mains connection cable in a stay wire.
NOTE: Do not forget to connect the protective circuit to the connection marked with sign. The cooktop
power supply should be protected by an appropriately selected safety switch.
Before connecting the cooktop to the power read the information provided on the rating plate and wiring
diagram.
Methods of connection other than those indicated on the diagram can damage the cooktop.
When connecting to xed wiring a means for an pole disconnection with at least 3mm contact separation must
be incorporated in the xed wiring in accordance with the wiring rules. This appliance should only be installed
by qualied persons.

Before First Use
• IMPORTANT: Remove any excess packaging material, including protective plastic lm, protective foam, etc.
Failure to do so could damage your cooktop and void your warranty.
• Carefully clean the cooktop treating it as a glass surface.
• When used for the rst time the cooktop can produce an odour so switch on the ventilation system or open
the window.
• Operate the cooktop observing the safety instructions.
NOTE: When you connect your appliance to power for the rst time the cooking zone display may show the
letter “ ”. This is not a defect, and the letter “ ” will disappear after approximately 60 minutes.
• The ceramic cooktop is equipped with sensors operated by touching the marked areas with a nger.
• Every touch of a sensor is conrmed with a sound.
• When switching the cooktop on and off and setting the heating power always touch only one sensor. If you
touch several sensors at the same time (with the exception of switching off the hotplate or the clock), the
system will ignore the entered settings and, should you keep touching the sensors for a long time, will emit
a fault signal.
Proper Cookware
There is specially made and tested cookware for cooking on ceramic plates available on the market. Observe
instructions provided by the cookware manufacturers.
Cookware with aluminium or copper bottoms can leave metallic discolouration, which is very difcult to
remove. Be particularly careful when using enamelware, as it may irreparably damage your cooktop when left
on a hotplate with the contents boiled down. To achieve optimal power consumption, optimal cooking times
and to avoid burning of food boiled over on the cooktop, observe the following recommendations.
Cookware Bases
The cookware should have a stable, at base, as sharp-edged bases or bases with burrs and charred food
residuals can scratch your ceramic cooktop and have abrasive impact on it!

Sizes
The diameter of the bottom surface of the pot should match the diameter of the cooking zone.
Lids
Lids prevent heat from escaping from the pot, shorten the cooking time and reduce power consumption.
Touch Control Sensor Panel
When the cooking surface is connected to the electricity mains, the
“-” symbol should light up briey on the indicator (3), after which
the cooktop can be switched on.
Switching on the Cooktop
When the cooktop is switched off then all the cooking zones are
disconnected and the indicators are off.
Touching the on/off sensor eld (1) switches on the cooktop, and
a ashing “ ” appears on the right front sensor eld (3) for 10
seconds. Now the desired heating power can be set using the (+)
sensor eld (5) and the (-) sensor eld (4) (see “Setting the heating
power”).
WARNING
No objects should be placed on the sensor
surfaces (this could cause an error). Touch sensor
surfaces should be always kept clean.
WARNING
If none of the sensor elds are touched within 10
seconds then the heating zone switches off.

Selecting a Cooking Zone
Touching the cooking zone selection sensor eld (2) activates the
individual cooking zones. A cooking zone is active when a number
is ashing on the indicator (3). Power level settings for a chosen
cooking zone can be selected using the (+) sensor eld (5) or the (-)
(4) or switch off the cooking zone by touching simultaneously (+)(5)
and (-)(4).
After 10 seconds the cooking zone becomes inactive. To make
further changes the cooking zone should be reactivated using the
sensor eld (2).
Switching on the Cooking Zones
If the ceramic cooktop is on (i.e. at least one cooking zone is on),
then the next cooking zone can be switched on by touching sensor
eld (2) rst to chose the appropriate cooking zone. When a “ ”
ashes on the indicator, the desired heating power can be set using
the (+) sensor eld (5) and the (-) sensor eld (4) (see “Setting the
heating power”).
WARNING
Activation of the cooking zones always begins
from the front right cooking zone and is changed
clockwise by touching sensor eld (2).
WARNING
If none of the sensor elds is touched within 10
seconds then the ceramic cooktop switches off.

Setting the Heating Power
In order to set the heating power, rst select the desired cooking
zone using the cooking zone selector sensor (2). Then, when the
cooking zone indicator (3) shows “ ” and a digit is ashing, start
setting the required heating power using the (+) sensor (5) or the (-)
sensor (4).
If you do not want the automatic warm-up function to operate, start
the heating power selection by touching the (-) sensor (4) rst. You
can then gradually increase the heating power by operating the (+)
sensor eld (5), or lower the heating power setting by operating the
(-) sensor (4).
If, however, you want to cook using the automatic warm-up function,
start the heating power selection by touching the (+) sensor (5) rst.
(See “Automatic warm up function”)

Automatic Warm-up Function
Each cooking zone is equipped with an automatic warm-up
function. When this is activated, the selected cooking zone is
switched on at full power for a time depending on the heat setting
selected, and is then switched back to the heat setting set.
To activate the automatic warm-up function. Set the required
heating power by touching the (+) sensor (5) rst. Then the heating
level “ ” is displayed intermittently on the cooking zone indicator
(3) with the letter “ ” for around 10 seconds.
If you start to set the heating power level within 10 seconds by
touching the (-) sensor eld (4), then the automatic warm-up
function is activated and the letter “ ” remains lit for as long as it
stays activated.
The heating power level can be now changed at any moment using
the method described in the “Setting the heating power” section.

WARNING
If you do not start to set the heating power
setting within 10 seconds, then the letter “ ”
vanishes and the automatic warm-up function is
inactive.
If you do not wish the automatic warm-up
function to operate, start selecting the heating
power by touching the “-” sensor (4) (the letter
“ ” is not lit).
Switching Off a Selected Cooking Zone
1. Select the required cooking zone using the cooking zone
selection sensor eld (2).
2. Then simultaneously press the (+) sensor (5) and the (-) sensor
(4), or use the (-) sensor (4) to lower the setting to “ ”. The
letter “ ” appears on the indicator symbolising residual heat.

The Residual Heat Indicator
Once a hot cooking zone is switched off, “ ” is displayed on the
relevant cooking zone’s display to warn that the cooking zone is still
hot.
When the residual heat indicator goes out, the cooking zone can
be touched, however keep in mind that it may still be warmer than
ambient temperature.

WARNING
Do not touch the cooking zone at this time due to the risk of burns from residual heat, and
do not place any objects sensitive to heat on the cooking zone.
The “ ” residual heat indicator is not displayed during a power outage. However, cooking
zones may still be hot!
NOTE: If the appliance is switched on after being reconnected or when power is restored
after a power outage, a short self-test will be carried out and “ ” residual heat indicator
is displayed. “ ” residual heat indication will be shown on a cooking zone display for 45
to 60 minutes. The time residual heat indication is displayed is not based on temperature
measurement, but on how long the cooking zone operated. After a power failure, the
highest possible temperature and the longest cooling time are assumed, hence the
extended time the indication is displayed.
This does not affect appliance operation.

Limited Time of Operation
To increase reliability of the plate each hotplate is provided with an
operation time limiter. The maximum time of operation depends on
the last selected heating power level.
If the heating power is not changed during the specied time (see
the Table), the hotplate will be switched off automatically and the
residual temperature indicator will show.
If you want to continue cooking, switch on the hotplate again at the
required level of heating power.

The Child Lock Function
The child lock function protects the cooktop from being accidentally switched on.
• When the mains power is off, the child lock function is automatically deactivated.

Activating the Child Lock Function
Touching the on/off sensor eld (1) switches on the ceramic
cooktop, and a ashing “ ” appears on the right front sensor eld
(3) for 10 seconds.
During these 10 seconds, press sensor elds (2) and (4)
simultaneously. After hearing a short beep, press sensor eld (+)(5)
and the letter “ ”will be displayed on all the indicators (3).

Switching Off the Child Lock Function
Press the main sensor eld (1), the letter “ ” will be displayed on
all the indicators (3).
Within 10 seconds of the on/off sensor (1) being touched, press
sensor elds (2) and (4) simultaneously. After hearing the short beep,
press sensor eld (-)(4) and the letter “ ” will disappear from all
the indicators (3).
Switching Off the Appliance
The cooktop operates when at least one cooking zone is on.
Pressing the on/off sensor eld (1) switches off the appliance, and
the letter “ ” for residual heat appears on the cooking zone
indicator (3).
