Congratulations on our new SCEPTRE X37 High Definition LCD Television
purchase. Thank ou for our support. To ensure safet and man ears of
trouble free operation of our TV, please read the manual carefull before
making an adjustments, and keep them in a safe place for future reference.
We hope ou enjo our new SCEPTRE X37 High Definition LCD Television.

investment be ond the standard warrant , SCEPTRE offers a two ear
extended warrant service for our TV. This plan gives additional coverage
once our standard warrant period runs out. Please call our customer
service group to purchase the extended warrant .

Electricit is used to perform man useful functions, but it can also cause
personal injuries and propert damage if improperl handled. This product
has been engineered and manufactured with the highest priorit on safet .
However, improper use can result in electric shock and / or fire. In order to
prevent potential danger, please observe the following instructions when
installing, operating and cleaning the product. To ensure our safet and
prolong the service life of our Liquid Cr stal Television, please read the
following precautions carefull before using the product.

manufacturer’s instructions.

9. Do not defeat the safet purpose of the polarized or grounding-t pe plug.
A polarized plug has two blades with one wider than the other. A
grounding t pe plug has two blades and a third grounding prong. The
wide blade and the third prong are provided for our safet . If the
provided plug does not fit into our outlet, consult an electrician for
replacement of the obsolete outlet.
10. Protect the power cord from being walked on or pinched particularl at
the plugs, convenience receptacles, and the point where the exit from
the apparatus.
11. Onl use attachments/accessories specified b the manufacturer.
12. Use onl with the cart, stand, tripod, bracket, or table specified b the
manufacturer, or sold with the apparatus. When a cart is used, use
caution when moving the cart/apparatus combination to avoid injur from

This product is designed and manufactured to operate within defined design limits, and
misuse ma result in electric shock or fire. To prevent the product from being damaged,
the following rules should be observed for the installation, use and maintenance of the
product. Read the following safet instructions before operating the displa . Keep these
instructions in a safe place for future reference.
• To avoid the risk of electric shock or
component damage, switch off the
power before connecting other
components to the X37 LCD TV.
• Unplug the power cord before
cleaning the X37 LCD TV. Please use
the included custom bezel cleaning
cloth for cleaning the bezel of the X37
LCD TV onl . Do not use a liquid or a
spra cleaner for cleaning the product.
Do not use abrasive cleaners.
• Alwa s use the accessories
recommended b the manufacturer to
insure compatibilit .
• When moving the X37 LCD TV from
an area of low temperature to an area
of high temperature, condensation
ma form on the housing. Do not turn
on the X37 LCD TV immediatel after
this to avoid causing fire, electric
shock or component damage.
• Do not place the X37 LCD TV on an
unstable cart, stand, or table. If the
X37 LCD TV falls, it can injure a
person and cause serious damage to
the appliance. Use onl a cart or stand
recommended b the manufacturer or
sold with the X37 LCD TV.
• An heat source should maintain a
distance of at least 5 feet awa from
the X37 LCD TV, i.e. radiator, heater,
oven, amplifier etc. Do not install the
product too close to an thing that
produces smoke or moisture.
Operating the product close to smoke
or moisture ma cause fire or electric
shock.
• Slots and openings in the back and
bottom of the cabinet are provided for
ventilation. To ensure reliable
operation of the X37 LCD TV and to
protect it from overheating, be sure
these openings are not blocked or
covered. Do not place the X37 LCD
TV in a bookcase or cabinet unless
proper ventilation is provided.
• Never push an object into the
ventilation slots of the X37 LCD TV.
Do not place an objects on the top of
the Product. It could short circuit parts
causing a fire or electric shock. Never
spill liquids on the X37 LCD TV.
• Do not use the X37 LCD TV in a
portrait format (b rotating 90 degrees)
under high temperature environment
(25°C or higher), since this would
retard heat dissipation and would
eventuall damage the TV.
• The X37 LCD TV should be operated
onl from the t pe of power source
indicated on the label. If ou are not
sure of the t pe of power supplied to
our home, consult our dealer or
local power compan .
• The power cable must be replaced
when using different voltage from that
specified in the User Manual. For
more information, contact our dealer.
• The X37 LCD TV is equipped with a
three-pronged grounded plug, a plug
with a third (grounding) pin. This plug
will fit onl into a grounded power
outlet as a safet feature. If our outlet
does not accommodate the three-wire

plug, have an electrician install the
correct outlet, or use an adapter to
ground the appliance safel . Do not
defeat the safet purpose of the
grounded plug.
• Do not overload power strips and

near the equipment and should be
easil accessible.

source other than the specified one

External Television Antenna Grounding
If an outside antenna or cable s stem is to be connected to the LCD TV, make sure that
the antenna or cable s stem is electricall grounded to provide some protection against
voltage surges and static charges. Article 810 of the National Electrical Code,
ANSI/NFPSA 70, provides information with regard to proper grounding of the mast and
supporting structure, grounding of the lead-in wire to an antenna discharge unit, size of
the grounding conductors, location of antenna discharge unit, connection to grounding
electrodes, and requirements of the grounding electrode.
Lightning Protection
For added protection of the LCD TV during a lightning storm or when it is left
unattended or unused for long periods of time, unplug the LCD TV from the wall outlet
and disconnect the antenna or cable s stem.
Po er Lines
Do not locate the antenna near overhead light or power circuits, or where it could fall
into such power lines or circuits.

The SCEPTRE X37 is packaged in a carton. An standard accessories are packed
separatel in another carton. The weight of the LCD displa is approximatel 42.9 lbs.
Since the glass can be easil scratched or broken, please handle the product gentl .
Never place the unit on a surface with the glass facing downwards unless it is on
protective padding. When opening the carton, check that the product is in good
condition and that all standard accessories and items are included. Save the original
box and all packing materials for future shipping needs.

Please read the user manual carefull before performing the installation. The maximum
power consumption of the displa is approximatel 185 watts. Please use the power
cord designated for the product. When an extension cord is required, use one with the
correct power rating. The cord must be grounded and the grounding feature must not be
defeated. The product should be installed on a flat surface to avoid tipping. Space
should be maintained between the back of the product and the wall for proper
ventilation. If ou would like to mount the TV onto the wall, please see page 8 and 11 for
additional information. Avoid installing the product in the kitchen, bathroom or other
places with high humidit dust or smoke, so as not to shorten the service life of the
electronic components. Please ensure the product is installed with the screen in
landscape orientation. An 90° clockwise or counterclockwise installation ma induce
poor ventilation and successive component damage.

1. Please handle the TV with two or more people. Please locate a large flat surface (i.e. table)
and put a soft cloth (i.e. blanket) on the surface. Please set the TV facing up on the flat
surface so the panel does not get damaged.
2. Please connect the stand to the TV and secure the connection with a screw driver and the 6
screws included in the accessor box. You can screw them in from the bottom of the stand.
DO NOT over tighten the screws when installing the stand; otherwise the stand’s threading will
become stripped.
3. To remove the stand and neck for wall mounting, simpl remove the 5 screws on the back of
the TV and ou can slide the neck off.

INDICATOR LIGHT – The light is red when power is plugged in but the TV is not turned
on. The light turns blue when the TV is turned on.

VOL(+/-) – These buttons increase or
decrease the TV’s volume. If a sub-
menu is active, pressing these buttons
will move the selection left or right.
CH(+/-) – These buttons change the
TV channel up or down. If the OSD is
active, these buttons function as up or
down controls for the menu.
MENU – This button activates the On
Screen Displa (OSD). If a sub-menu
is active, pressing this button will
return selection to the previous menu
level.
SOURCE – This button switches
between all the different sources of the
TV. When the OSD is active, this
button acts as the enter button and
confirms the menu selection.

The follo ing descriptions are for connections from left to right.
1. HEADPHONE – This connection port is for people who wants to use a headphone.
2. HDMI3 – HDMI connects to devices that use HDMI cable, such as Blu-ra or HD DVD
pla er, or HD cable / satellite set-top box. This connection port receives pure digital
audio and high definition signal through one single cable. This port also can accept a
HDCP video device for video.
3. HDMI2 – HDMI connects to devices that use HDMI cable, such as Blu-ra or HD DVD
pla er, or HD cable / satellite set-top box. This connection port receives pure digital
audio and high definition signal through one single cable. This port also can accept a
HDCP video device for video.
4. HDMI1 – HDMI connects to devices that use HDMI cable, such as Blu-ra or HD DVD
pla er, or HD cable / satellite set-top box. This connection port receives pure digital
audio and high definition signal through one single cable. This port also can accept a
HDCP video device for video.
5. VGA - This connection port connects to a PC for video using VGA cable. Be sure to
connect our audio cable to the VGA Stereo input if ou want sound out of VGA video
source.
6. VGA STEREO INPUT - This connection port is for people who want to provide audio to
the TV when using a PC or a DVI video device. The sources use 3.5mm mini-jack audio
cable.
7. AV (CVBS) – CVBS connects to devices that use composite video cables such as VCR
or camcorder or video game consoles. Please connect the video portion with the ellow
connector. Do NOT connect both ellow and black video connectors.
8. YPbPr – This connection port is for DVD pla ers or satellite / cable set-top boxes that
use component cables. From left to right, connect green, blue, and red for video, and
then connect white for left channel audio, and red for right channel audio.
9. AUDIO OUT – This connection port is used for sending out analog audio signals to
analog surround sound receivers. The red and white connectors connect to receivers or
self powered speakers with RCA jacks.
10. AV (SVIDEO) – SVIDEO connects to devices such as SVHS or camcorder or video
game consoles. Please connect the video portion with the S-Video connector. Do NOT
connect both video connectors.
11. SPDIF OUT - This connection port is used for sending out digital audio signals to digital
surround sound receivers. The black (OPTICAL SPDIF OUT) connector cover needs to
be pulled out and the port sends out either bit-stream or PCM digital sound signal to a
home theater receiver with digital input.
12. TV – This connection is for digital or analog cable without the cable box or over-the-
airwave antennas. The tuner is a h brid tuner that tunes to both analog and digital
channels. This connection uses coaxial RF cable. For over-the airwave digital stations
please check http://www.antennaweb.org.
13. AC IN - This connection is for providing power to the TV.
Please Note:
• This TV features a power saving function which will turn off the TV automaticall
after 30 minutes of idling on a connection with no signal. This feature is present on
all connection.

For universal remotes, this TV follo s SONY’s universal remote code. You need to find the
actual code from your cable or satellite or universal remote provider.

POWER – Turns the TV on or off.

Please insert two AAA batteries into the remote control. Make sure that ou match the (+) and (-)
s mbols on the batteries with the (+) and (-) s mbols inside the batter compartment. Afterwards,
re-attach the batter cover.

1. Make sure the power of X37 LCD HDTV is turned off.
2. Connect the Coaxial RF cable from our antenna or digital cable to the TV port on
the back of our X37 LCD HDTV.
3. Turn on X37 LCD HDTV.
4. Select TV (Air) for antenna or TV (Cable) for digital cable from either our remote
control’s source button or source button on the TV.
5. Use the On Screen Displa to scan for channels.
Please Note :
•
Not all broadcasts are in High Definition (HD). Please refer to our local
broadcasting stations for more information.
•
The X37 LCD HDTV’s tuner is designed for HDTV therefore requires a
stronger signal than normal TVs. If ou cannot achieve that signal level with
our antenna or cable, our X37 LCD HDTV might lose picture or sound.

1. Make sure the power of X37 LCD HDTV and our DVD pla er is turned off.
2. Obtain a Component Cable. Connect the green color connector to both our DVD pla er
and YPbPr’s green connector port on the back of our X37 LCD HDTV.
3. Connect the blue color connector to both our DVD pla er and YPbPr’s blue connector
port on the back of our X37 LCD HDTV.
4. Connect the red color connector to both our DVD pla er and YPbPr’s red connector
port on the back of our X37 LCD HDTV.
5. Obtain a RCA Audio Cable. Connect the white color connector to both our DVD pla er
and YPbPr’s white connector port on the back of our X37 LCD HDTV.
6. Connect the red color connector to both our DVD pla er and YPbPr’s red connector
port on the back of our X37 LCD HDTV.
7. Turn on the X37 LCD HDTV and our DVD pla er.
8. Use the remote control’s source button or the source button on the TV to switch to

1. Make sure the power of X37 LCD HDTV and our DVD pla er is turned off.
2. Obtain an S-Video Cable. Connect the S-Video connector to both our DVD pla er and
AV’s S-Video connector port on the back of our X37 LCD HDTV.
3. Obtain a RCA Audio Cable. Connect the white color connector to both our DVD pla er
and AV’s white connector port on the back of our X37 LCD HDTV.
4. Connect the red color connector to both our DVD pla er and AV’s red connector port on
the back of our X37 LCD HDTV.
5. Turn on the X37 LCD HDTV and our DVD pla er.
6. Use the remote control’s source button or the source button on the TV to switch to AV(S-
Video).
Please Note :
•
Make sure the ellow connector in the same group is not connected. You
can onl connect either the S-Video port or the Yellow Video connector port.
DO NOT CONNECT BOTH.

1. Make sure the power of X37 LCD HDTV and our PC is turned off.
2. Obtain a 15-pin D-Sub VGA cable; connect to the VGA output of our PC and the
other end to the VGA port on the back of our X37 LCD HDTV.
3. Obtain a 3.5 mm Mini-jack, connect to the audio out of our PC and the other end
to the VGA Stereo Input port.
4. Turn on the power of the X37 LCD HDTV and our PC.
5. Use the remote control’s source button or the source button on the TV to switch to
VGA.
6. Change our PC resolution to 1920x1080 at 60hz refresh rate.
7. Press MENU to use the OSD’s SETUP option.
8. Under the SETUP option select PC function.
9. Under PC function use AUTO ADJUST to adjust the screen.
Please Note :
• For the best results, please set our PC resolution to 1920x1080 at 60
Hz. Please refer to the PC or graphic card’s manual for further
instructions on how to set our resolution and refresh rate.
• Please refer to our PC manual for video output requirements of the
video card.
•
The VGA port of the TV features a power saving mode which will
automaticall turn off the TV, if there’s no signal provided for more than
5 minutes.

1. Make sure the power of X37 LCD HDTV and our receiver is turned off.
2. Obtain an optical SPDIF cable, connect it to our receiver’s optical
SPDIF digital input and the optical SPDIF connection on the LINE OUT
port on the back of the X37 LCD HDTV.
3. Turn on the X37 LCD HDTV and our receiver.
Please Note :
• If ou want pure digital stream for our receiver to decode, ou
must also configure the TV’s OSD Sound->Digital Audio Out
function. Make sure the option is on Bit Stream.
• If our receiver is making static noises when receiving Bit
Stream, ou must use the PCM option instead.
• Please reference the receiver’s manual as well, to make sure
the receiver is configured to receive signals correctl from the
TV.

front of the TV is lit up.
2. Check all our connection cables off the side or the back of our TV and also
our AV devices. Make sure the are all connected securel .
3. Turn on our TV and other AV devices if necessar .

If an antenna or cable is connected to our TV’s ATSC/NTSC port, ou will need to use
the source button on the remote control or the source button on the right side of the TV
to switch to TV (Cable / Air) and auto-scan for channels.
1. Open up the OSD b pressing the MENU button on the remote control.
2. Make sure CHANNEL is highlighted; if not please use the ◄ or ► buttons to
select CHANNEL then press the ▼
direction button to switch to ANTENNA.
