Welcome to your new SCHENKER ELEMENT Tablet PC and thank you for choosing our products.
We'd like to show you around and help you get to know your new SCHENKER ELEMENT a little bit better.
This guide will help you learn the key layout and basic motions you need to get started.

A. Safety & care precautions
›This product is suitable for all non-tropical areas, below 2,000 meters (6,500ft).
›Prevent the product from falling directly on the ground and protect it from any other strong external impacts.
›Do not use the product in any extreme climatic conditions, where the air temperature is too cold
(>0°C / >32°F) or too hot (>35°C / 95°F), as well as any exceedingly humid conditions.
›Do not expose the product to direct sunlight.
›Avoid using the product in strong magnetic or static environments.
›If the product should come into any contact with water, shut it off immediately and do not use until product is
completely dry.
›Do no clean the product with any solvents containing chemical elements or any other liquid. This can cause
damage due to corrosion and humidity. Please only use a clean, soft and dry cloth tissue for cleaning purposes.
›Schenker Technologies GmbH and all of its subsidiaries, partners and resellers shall not bear any responsibility
for loss or deletion of data inside the machine due to irregular software or hardware operation, installation or
non-authorized maintenance.
›Please back your data up regularly to prevent any potential loss.
›Please do not disassemble the product yourself. Doing so will immediately void the warranty.
›Some ELEMENT models support a majority of the mainstream 3G DONGLE network cards. However these have
not yet been standardized, so please check with your service provider before using 3G with this product.
›This quick use guide and all relevant software shall be updated at appropriate intervals. Please visit www.
schenker-tech.com/support to download any software updates. You are responsible for all software updates
and no notications will be given by us for updates. If any inconsistences are found, the manufacturer’s quick
start guide shall prevail.
›Replacing with incorrect battery types may cause explosion! Please be sure to have batteries replaced by
manufacturer or authorized dealer.

B. Key layout and denitions
›Volume controls: Adjusts the audio volume up or down
›Front CCD camera: Allows you to take pictures and record video
›CCD camera indicator: The CCD camera indicator will illuminate when camera is in use
›Ambient light sensor: Light sensor can detect ambient light and can change screen brightness accordingly
›Windows key: Press this to return to the Start screen
›Removable keyboard dock: The keyboard dock in the smart cover are magnetic and allows for easy docking and
use of the keyboard with the tablet
›Back CCD camera: Allows you to take pictures and record video
›Speaker: The built-in speaker enables you to hear playback from the device without external devices
›Power button: Press this briey to enable stand-by or wake the device. Press and hold the power button a few
seconds to shut the tablet down completely
›External jacks: These jacks allow use of external devices such as earphones and microphones
›Reset key: Restart system and reset system functions
›Mini HDMI jack: High-Denition Multimedia Interface
›Card slot: The built-in storage card reader slot supports Micro-SD and MicroSDHC formats
›Micro USB Interface: Connect an external device such as a mouse, printer or memory stick
›Microphone: Hold directly to sound source for best recording quality
›Power DC Interface: Recharge your tablet through this DC interface

›Please note: The keyboard is optional and not included in all models. It may not apply to all models.
›Flexible keyboard dock: Lock your tablet into place - This interface is magnetic, which makes alignment and docking of
the keyboard easy and convenient
›Tablet keyboard: The keyboard provides full size keys for comfortable typewriting
›Touch mouse pad: You can use this to control the cursor on the tablet. Functions the same as a contemporary mouse
›Base: This is the folding base of the ELEMENT

D. Introduction to Windows 8.1 Touch
1. Windows 8.1 Start Screen
The start screen is a tiled user interface showing applications and programs. These applications are
displayed in the form of icons. By simply clicking them you can access each one.
›You need to log in to your Microsoft account in order to run some applications correctly.
2. Sliding image applications
Active apps
Slide from the left side of the screen to the right
to browse through your running applications.
Reduce
“Pull” your ngers together to reduce the size of
an image on the screen.
Enlarge
“Push” your ngers apart to enlarge the size of
an image on the screen.
Charm menu
Slide from the right side of the screen to the left
to access the Charm Menu column.

Close application
Slide downwards from the top of the screen to
close the active application.
Scroll applications
In start screen, slide your nger right and left to
scroll through your start apps.
All applications
Whilst in the start screen, slide upward anywhere
on the screen to roll in a list of all of your apps.

›Lightly touch and hold the application icon for a second and then release
›With the application selected, x it to the start screen
3. Introduction to app interface
Other than applications already xed on the start screen, you can also start other application programs
in the system, such as software applications that came bundled with the product.

›Lightly touch and hold the application icon for a second and then release
›Select the option to remove the application from the start screen

4. Charm menu column
Slide from the right side of the screen to the left to access the Charm Menu column. This column
includes the following commands: Start, Device, Setup, Share, and Search Program.
›This allows you to search les and applications on your tablet
›This allows you to share content through a social network or exchange
program and cloud services
›This allows you to return to the start screen. From the start screen, you can
also use this function to return to the last opened application
›This allows you to read, write and share les, as well as connect to an
external screen or printer when connected to the tablet
›This allows you to setup the tablet

5. Application manager column
Slide from the left side of the screen to the right to browse through your running applications.
By holding the image and dragging it back to the left you can access the Application manager. In this
column you can see all your active applications.
›Slide downwards from the top
of the screen to grab the active
application
›Hold and drag the image to
the left side until application
manager column appears
›Release the image in the appli-
cation manager column
›Slide from the left side of the
screen to the right to open the
next application

6. Split screen application
For a better overview you can divide the screen between two active applications making it much
easier for you to move back and forth between the apps. Each app will take up the half of the screen
by default. You can easily adjust it by dragging the split line.
›Slide downwards from the top
of the screen to grab the active
application
›Hold and drag the image to
the side until double interfaces
appear
›Release the image in one of
the double interfaces
›Press the split display button
on the middle split line and
drag this right or left to split
the display double screens
›Move the split line out of one
side of the screen to cancel
